Happy Holidays From ArrowheadGuys!

A note from the Arrowhead Guys staff.

From all of us at ArrowheadGuys, we wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks for helping us make this community what it has become. A little over a year ago, the site was started with no idea what content we could offer but we knew it would be a community where we could come together and not only talk about the Chiefs, but anything and everything in between.

Fast forward to now, and we have a daily news round up, multiple analysts who are killing it in the review game, podcasts, YouTube series, and even whatever it is that Dave does! But again, it all goes back to providing for a community. And while we love what we do, it unfortunately isn’t a full time job for any of us. So, for the next few days, we’re going to take some time to relax, catch our breath, and spend time with family and friends before we watch our Chiefs make a run towards the Super Bowl for the second year in a row.

We encourage you to spend this time with friends and family and just doing what you need to recharge your batteries and prepare for the coming New Year. We’ll have some Open Threads dropping each day for those of you that want to hang around here. We will return to our regularly scheduled programming on Friday 27 December.

No matter how you choose to celebrate (or not celebrate) this time of year, one thing is certain: We’re extremely grateful you’re here!

Merry Christmas and Fleas On a Dog to all my AG family. I hope you have a great holiday but remember to go easy on the Bert’s because it sure ain’t going to go easy on your digestive system. Or any other else it touches.

First Christmas without Dozer. No stocking to hang, teeming with toys and treats and such. No dog bed next to the Christmas tree that he used to love sleeping on.

Christmas Eve and it’s just me and a book and a copious amount of Christmas beers as I’m haunted by the ghosts of Christmas past.

Christmas has a way of underscoring absence. Peace to you and all here.

Raiders suck, but this stadium is going to look sick.

My parents live in Vegas. As does one of my good buddies who is a raiders fan. And another good buddy who is a raiders fan lives in Flagstaff, AZ. So in light of that, I will probably be attending most of our games at Vegas for the foreseeable future.

They are still going to be the third best team in Vegas behind the Knights and Aces.

I know I haven’t been around much and that has been due to working overnights for the last two months. All is well though folks.

I go to work. I log in. I open my email. I open my helpdesk ticketing program. I open this site. Every weekday I do this. You all (and us patrons!) have made this site what it is and I love this site.

If you are a comic book fan and haven’t read Dark Knight’s Metal, what are you doing.

I have actually reached a point where my collection is so large that I have to do 2 reorgs a year to make sure boxes don’t get overfilled. It’s like doing deadlifts for 30 minutes.

From Wiki’s overview it looks to be excellent, though I tend to prefer Marvel. The exception to that is the post-Miller Batman takes that stay in that vein. For me, Miller’s The Dark Knight captures the essence of Batman. That doesn’t mean I hate BatWest or BatMrMom or think either’s “Not real Batman”. To the contrary, I’m OK with Batman having a lighter side or the character might get dreary.

Anyway, DNM would be a great read, but to really grasp it I would have to read more widely, which could run a chunk of change. And while I love them, I simply can’t afford to start following one, let alone the never-ending trickle of others entering my reading list. Not to mention the supplementation of past issues. Oy.

Not really. That is the beauty of trade paperbacks. 4 books tell the entire story.

Got the kids a basketball goal, some toys, and books. Flew their grandma down from Minnesota, and the women folk are in the kitchen making cookies for Santa. I’m drinking coffee even though it’s 4:41 and 70 degrees outside. Once the sun sets we will read out of Matthew, then “the night before Christmas” and get everyone to bed early. I fully expect the kids to sound reveille around 0400 tomorrow.
Also making up a nice country ham that has been soaking all day. I don’t do the sweet glaze on my ham like some folks. Random question-does anyone eat goose for Christmas?

Everything else aside, the nativity story in Matthew in the KJV is a work of art. Kinda makes me think of the stained glass windows in an ancient cathedral, if that makes sense.

As far as Christmas dinner’s concerned, I’m toying with the notion of having a “Jewish Christmas Dinner”, though cooked at home. Can’t get good Chinese in this area’s restaurants, really. Got a pretty good Mexican joint, though.

Since this looks to function as the early open thread, I wanted to make note of something about the movie “White Christmas”. Yes, it’s sentimental to the point of sappiness, but there is considerable historical precedent for the troops showing up to help their beloved commander. Lawrence Chamberlain was one who maintained a relationship with his troops, but there are plenty of examples of help going back and forth after the war was over.

And while the tale of Charles Whittlesey is a sad one, the troops that served under him and in particular in the decimating battle in the Meuse-Argonne offensive practically revered him. So while White Christmas may come off as overly sentimental, you might watch it again from a slightly different perspective. Merry Christmas, folks.

Anthony speaks for me on this, this project is all about the community here. Y’all (including me) may bicker and squabble at times, but everyone’s put in some effort into ensuring that the comments don’t devolve into something like the comments sections of other sites. My role has faded back into a supporting one, but I put in the work on tidying up posts because I care about and believe in this community.

And I thank you for tidying up stuff. I’ve noticed in the last couple winners/losers I’ve forgotten to put a “jump to comments” link in the article, as I’m usually more focused of getting something of quality put out. Once they go hot, I’ve noticed they have been in there and that is all thanks to you. I appreciate it BRAG, and am glad you are there reviewing all these for me and the crew.

Feels like I’m more a janitor than anything else, at times, but having a good clean-up crew is important. Just ask John Wick. 😉

I don’t know where I would be without this site. After AP went south, this place became my home away from home.
