Game Summary
The Seahawks got the ball first and marched down the field with ease against the Chiefs’ “starting” defense, finishing it off with a 15 yard touchdown run by Charbonnet. Gardner Minshew and the Chiefs “starters” on offense also put together a nice drive, but Carson Steele got stopped just shy on 4th down at the 15 yard line so they came away without points. Then the Seattle runningbacks again ran through wide open holes down the field for another touchdown. It was clear that the Chiefs were not interested in playing a super late preseason game in the rain.
The Chiefs finally did something positive with Royals getting a big return to midfield. Minshew got them the rest of the way (with a bit of help from Brashard Smith on a “pass” play that went 12 yards) and made a Mahomes-like play avoiding pressure before finding Tonyan in the back of the endzone for a touchdown.
After that the Chiefs started going deep enough into the roster where the game didn’t matter much. They got a 4th down stop on the goalline, but then Mitchell got tackled in the endzone on the first play of the drive to give Seattle 2 points.
And then the 2nd half started.
I’ll admit I had a hard time caring at this point. Brashard Smith impressed. Skyy Moore didn’t, until he returned a kickoff for a touchdown right before the game ended.

I really hope that trash abominatipn of a game last night was just the result of a typical unrehearsed preseason game where they were looking at very specific players and trying to figure out who belongs on the final roster or whatever.
I hated to see the ” Cheese Eater / Surrender Mode ” Pop up as early as it did … ; (
I have a hypothesis about that, or rather related to that. Fits with that? Anyway, I was thinking about the process of the game, it struck me that Reid had likely game-planned in hopes of getting good tape on a number of players that are coachable. The rain, I now think threw that plan off its rails, and he might well have called the game on the fly, trying to salvage what he could from the original plan.
That would mean that the play calling might have been stilted enough to interfere with performance, because we know they want to generate certain looks here. We also know that Reid is a very meticulous planner, one of the reasons that his teams historically have very effective screen games. It doesn’t strike me as surprising, thinking that was the case here. It also ticks off a lot of boxes as to the theory fitting the reality department. It can account for several important real outcomes.

Agreed. We usually lose preseason games in the Andy Reid era. He’s calling plays based on how he wants to evaluate the players, not win the game.
Nice to know I’m not the only one who can see that.
There seemed to be quite few ” Situational ” opportunities to put those players in , that went un-used by the white flag impediments IMHO …
