“The State Farm Bowl Still Has Not Occurred”

The State Farm Bowl still has not occurred.
Mahomes vs. Rodgers was the match fans preferred.
But in the 3rd preseason game, backups get all attention.
Still Pat and his guys made a play that was awesome,
A pre-snap display to remember Len Dawson –
A 60’s choir huddle was a tribute that deserves all the mention.

Then Pat came to the sides, but one more tribute was seen.
The ref called delay of game on #16?!
The same retired number Len used to wear back in the day!
Then Henne got to start, and the game was on.
A few three and outs by both sides made fans yawn,
But our 2nd drive ended with 3 points, which is something to say. 

That was all Henne did, then the game was Buechele’s.
The 3rd string QB moved the chains and played well,
Throwing two scores to TE Matt Bushman to get the win.
Injuries weren’t good, saw three players go down.
Bushman himself, MVS went to the ground,
Our #1 pick McDuffie in concussion protocol at the end.

Our backups beat the Packers’ 3rd stringers. Whatever.
The plays were vanilla.  The starters are better.
The backups are all competing to make the 53.
We got a good look at the guys who had questions,
And now it’s up to the coaches to make the reductions.
Our backups have talent, so the last cuts will hurt to have to see.

But despite all that happened, Chiefs have got a lot here
To deal out the punishment and have a good year.
Arizona is first on the docket, and we’re chomping at the bit.
How interesting that our first game is in the place
That will host the Super Bowl at the end of the race
And Chiefs can be there at that game if we don’t ever quit.

So the preseason’s done.  Now we can’t wait to see
Kansas City unleashed as Chiefs get victory,
Rising up in the standings and slugging it out with the best.
This is a year the Chiefs’ can win it in spades.
The Chiefs are for real, and the rest are charades.
