I’ve been seeing this in my suggestions, but I can guess well enough from what I know about the history of matches. Too tragic for me, these days.

There’s some happier ones in there. The miner and the match girl sucked. The Glasgow canal digger was actually a pretty good job. It was tough physical work, but you got a full belly and beer at the end of the day. And you got paid better for more earth moved, so there’s even incentives to work harder.

Oh, I wasn’t criticizing the channel or the series, or even the episode. I just commented that I knew enough history to know it’s a tragic tale. If one isn’t aware of that part of history, and isn’t highly sensitive to such things, I recommend watching this. The truths it reveals are ugly, but significant for all that, and a lot of it still applies today using different mechanisms, though at a greatly reduced intensity level of callousness.

If you want to truly learn about history, you have to be willing to face and accept a whole lot of ugliness. Human cruelty exceeds anything Nature has devised, and that includes the fact that if a wandering lion tries to displace a pride’s alpha and fails, he may retreat from that unable to ever breed again. “Nature, red of tooth and claw” ain’t got nothing on us.

Chiefs signed Dieter back to the practice squad today, and relseas Jordan Ta’amu. They only signed Ta’amu yesterday. Apparently going to sign him to a futures contract.

Keeping Mahomes happy, cheap at the price. Besides, the PS carousel can’t continue eternally, so there’s an expiration date on it.

Will Dieter manage to snag the brass ring, or will he have to settle for enjoying the ride? There’s the rub.

There is definitely some skepticism in the coaching ranks as to how attractive this job is, even with a talent the likes of Russell Wilson to work with (and those receivers). If I was the Seahawks I would reach out to Chiefs quarterback back Mike Kafka and Ravens quarterbacks coach James Urban and Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott. I’d be looking for the most inspired choice to find ways to attack all quadrants of the field through the air and tap into Wilson’s unique skillset. But it’s fair to say there is skepticism within the industry about this search actually playing out in that manner.

EB is more ready to be a head coach than Nagy or Pederson were, IMO. The bullshit twitter argument that EB hasn’t been hired yet because of his race is retarded. No owner in the NFL would take less wins over some deep seeded racism. it actually is retarded to think that.

The concern with EB is that he’s a “raw raw” motivator guy more than an X’s and O’s coach. I’m not saying that’s the case but it’s a legit concern. I’d hire EB in a second if I was a bad team but it’s well known that Andy is 100% the play caller and EB helps install the offense in practice and calls in the play given to him.

most of it is. I grant you that. Most of that is just boys being boys type young shit we all have done. And all of it was at least 20 years ago or more. Plus he hasn’t had one questionable act off the field since he has been here. I’m not going to hold him to what he did decades ago. That said, that is a lot of stuff to sift through. Plus he has some sexual allegations against women. In the metoo era and with allegations made against people like Dan Snyder along those lines, you can see how an owner might have some trepidation. The CO thing is particularly troubling. I’m not sure what all came of that as far as his involvement ( I couldn’t find anything about where that ultimately went) but he was mentioned in the investigation and he was a major part of the program at the time.

I’m not going to argue with you, I just think that being so closely tied to Reid an the current OC means all that should be pretty much hogwash. Heck, you had Watson advocating for EB. IMO 99.999999999999% of people have no idea of any of those things in the past and none of it is actually relevant.

I guarantee you these owners know it. You don’t think they do deep digs on what is going to be the face of the organization? I promise you they do. And it is a different standard for a HC than it is a player. It just is. And a team is going to have to answer some questions if they hire Bienemy. And it doesn’t seem like he is blowing it away in the interviews he is having. So it is no surprise he hasn’t been hired

not exactly the same thing. Meyer may or may not have known a coach on his staff was a spouse abuser and kept him around. What Gary Barnett and his staff was accused of was using sex and drugs to entice recruits and turning a blind eye to many rape allegations involving his players for years. Bienemy was a part of that staff for 3 (I think) years during that period

The Reid-Veach combo has an extremely good track record of knowing which “troubled” players to bring in going back to Vick, at minimum. Not perfect, but you don’t see many serious issues sneak past them.

His name being involved was inevitable, though, regardless of culpability. His position as scouting coordinator ensured that, but he was still a definite subordinate to the HC, which is where the axe fell.

I can’t comment as to what his ultimate involvement was in that situation. I couldn’t find a lot on the subject. But I remember that scandal well. That was a pretty big deal back in the early 2000’s . And he was a big part of the team and was mentioned in the investigation and was questioned. I am sure teams know this and are being cautious due to the times we are living in

I’d say that “well known” would be more accurately stated as “widely believed”, since it has been factually established that Reid’s style is highly collaborative, even to the point where players and assistant coaches, etc. can and do submit play ideas to him, and they do get used. That strongly suggests that EB is more involved in calling plays than the 0% input/authority stated above, as far as the in-game participation goes. Remember that Mahomes consulted EB directly about Wasp, not the “100% play caller” Reid, and EB green lit it.

I never said the game plan is 100% Reid but I guarantee you he signs off on all the plays being called. Even the famous WASP you and EB ask Mahomes what he liked and then he relayed that call to get permission. Reid 100% is in charge of what’s being called during games.

How can you guarantee that, though, is there direct evidence supporting that?

Because in my analysis of Reid’s system, he not only collaborates with his subordinates, he also delegates authority pretty extensively. Pretty much everything he’s about is the polar opposite of a micromanager. Belichick’s a pretty clear example of that, and his system is basically the opposite of Reid’s. I don’t believe that Bieniemy is nothing but a mouthpiece for Reid on game day, it makes no sense given the context.

Odd, I don’t recall hearing him say anything in such a manner. Something like “On, and EB called a heck of a game” sounds more like Reid than the way you put it. The problem with the premise is that it requires Reid to be fundamentally dishonest in a way unrelated to a HC talking to the press.

As the general run of HCs in the NFL goes, you’d likely be right, but I’ve studied him a long time now, and I’m firmly of the opinion that Andy simply has better things to do with his mental time than keep track of which lies he’s told, so as to not get caught out.

Reid is a unique HC, pretty much everyone who’s ever worked with him speaks glowingly about his trustworthiness and honesty. That’s a very high bar to cross if you base a premise on the belief that Reid’s a liar. At worst, he’ll fib to the press in pre-game pressers when the tradition’s making misleading statements anyway.

That’s why I think it’s so important that Reid keeps saying EB is one of the best “leader’s of men” he’s been around. That’s really really important. You can hire people to be X’s and O’s guys, it’s very rare to be able to communicate that to players and actually TEACH them.

Sorry to go on this tangent but that’s why it’s frustrating when SJW twitter makes the argument that 80% of the NFL is black but only 13% are head coaches. A coach is a teacher, period. Doesn’t matter what race. The point is to take your knowledge and instill it in your team, from top to bottom.

I think it funny 810 radio has a clip of Kelce

He says every week Andy Reid gets on to him about something

Kelce called Reid Roller Coaster mogul? or something

When you as a leader?
show consistent mentoring it means you care

like raising kids it seems

I agree with your first part, but I’ll take it farther by saying that before being a good teacher a good leader has to be able to establish a good culture for his team to work in, otherwise you’re too busy settling arguments to teach effectively. That’s even more difficult to identify, to the extent it’s considered at all.

As for non-White coaches, I agree that your race shouldn’t matter, but in the NFL, it does matter. I remember how long it took them to accept that yes, Blacks can be good QBs, and all the arguments that they simply weren’t suited for the position, because reasons. The SJW crowd’s a pack of morons doing more harm than good, but that doesn’t mean that the outright bigotry of the pre-merger NFL doesn’t linger, simply because doing things to correct it means disrupting “traditions” and taking risks. IOW, hard mental work. So do such things persist, viewed by those relevant to changing it as vestigial stuff, no big deal. Seeing the problem means you have to fix things, after all.

I think more players go into network TV than coaching. Which would you rather do. Starve as an assistant wr coach for North Texas on a 12 year journey to being an NFL HC? Or wear a suit and a tie and go into a cushy TV gig making 6 figures? I know which I would choose

Since what I said had nothing to do with what percentage of players get into coaching, I decline to participate in your topic change.

I read that the Chiefs are apparently signing WR Antonio Callaway to a future/reserve contract

Given Lucas’ penchant for snitching appearances and such (SR-71 in space, anyone? How about a B-2?), I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to learn that the bandleader’s expression when he mugs to the camera while performing for Jabba was based on Callaway’s expression at 2:32. The resemblance, to my mind, is rather striking.

One thing is likely true of him, though, he will know better than to lie to the organization. He’ll also have been advised about the team’s culture, and how he’d best not try to disrupt it. Cam Erving still there, or Harris?

I think I read somewhere the best FA pickup for 2021 would be Nelson Agholor WR

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AghoNe00.htm

lots of targets but not great on receptions

With that said, I am glad Mahomes fiancee confirmed it. I don’t trust a word that dickhole prints.

While I have some insights into the dynamics of a rioting mob, if you incite the editor, you’ll find yourself receiving comments like this.

PS: I don’t expect you to clean up your act in the comments, because if you did, I wouldn’t be able to poke a little fun at you from time to time. You’ve been warned.
