Good DAMN morning, AG!

Today in Chiefs history, we appear to be birthday-less. I am sure someone in our history was born today, so let’s wish them a good one whoever they are.

In more worldly history, in 1931 the horror classic Frankenstein, based on a stage adaptation of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s 1818 novel, was released in the United StatesIn 1922, Rebecca Ann Felton of Georgia was sworn into office, becoming the first woman seated in the U.S. Senate1920 in Ireland saw Bloody Sunday and Pennsylvania saw the birth of Stan “The Man” Musial the same year, and way back in 1620 41 male passengers on the Mayflower, prior to landing at Plymouth, Massachusetts, signed the Mayflower Compact, by which they agreed to abide by the laws of the new government they would establish. Liars.

And now, on to the news, because in case you missed it, there was a game last night…

Pete Prisco
@PriscoCBS

Patrick Mahomes has 47 pass plays of 20 yards+ after having 58 all of last season and nine 40+ plus after having 11 last season.

So much for the idea he would be different without Tyreek Hill, which is not to take a shot at Hill, who is special. It’s just Mahomes is that guy.

Field Yates
@FieldYates

Travis Kelce is up to 11 receiving TD this season, already tied for most in his career in a season. He’s on pace for a career-high in catches, yards and TD this season at age 33.

And he now has 33 games with 100+ yards, more than any other TE in NFL history.

Regardless of how it plays out and how KC deals with this, we now know a little more of what we have in Toney as a player when healthy. We aren’t even sure what his ceiling may be, but it appears to be pretty high…but not with continual hamstring issues. I think they should shut him down and have him seeing a specialist to get his legs right for the next and future seasons. That’s what I thought they would do with him when he arrived in KC.

I think this is why the Giants gave up on him. They must have thought this player is never going to be reliable health-wise. IMO, some athletes are just better than their bodies will ever allow them to be. Can’t really say that is Toney, and I hope not, but after three hamstring events in NY this season, and now one more in KC, the doubts linger. I hate it, but I think we are left wondering at this point. May this be a big nothingburger, and he’ll be fine in short order. I think we’ll see within a week or two one way or the other.

That’s why we only gave a 3rd round pick for Mr. Toney’s services

I’m definitely not questioning the trade. I love it. It was a risk worth taking. It may still pay off in big results since we have him cheap for a couple seasons.

Don’t we slready have a washed up rb that fumbles too much inactive every week?

He seems physically healthy at age 29 and mentally Bronco’d. Definitely try to add him esp. with CEH down and maybe out. High ankle sprains are weeks to months of healing. Our #2 RB just fumbled one last night. Our presumed #3 has been kept on the roster but off the field all season for reasons not clearly stated. I imagine our RB room could use a guy like this at this point in the season. I bet he would get his mental game back in KC.

Even so, I don’t really know his game strengths other than he once racked up a lot of rushing yards. Does he catch passes? What kind of runner is he? Does he chip block well? He seems to have a pretty good attitude about his situation. He blamed himself instead of everyone else. If he’s not a potential locker room distraction, I would think he could help this team.

Downside – he fumbles a lot

I think that’s a mental issue. I think playing in Denver this season wrecked his mind. I think he’d get straightened out with a positive change of scenery. Who would want to play for this crappy Denver team and coaching staff?

All that said, as I think about it, MG3 would only want to come to KC for the purpose of being on a SB contender and maybe get a ring…but with the understanding that he may not see many, if any, touches. I do think if KC has any interest at all, it’s for exactly that…bottom of the roster insurance depth. I don’t think they’d play him much other than to maybe see if he can do better than his current season’s 3.5 ypc average. Wouldn’t be worth much money to do that.

If CEH hadn’t gone out with the high ankle sprain, I don’t think this would even be much for speculation. I don’t think KC would even take a sniff let alone kick the tires. Maybe now? Who knows. Ball security is a red flag, but he’s a veteran and knows how to play RB. He does catch the ball some too, I notice from his stats. Never really have paid attention to him. He’s probably had a good outing or two against the Chiefs in the past just because.

well done, NOVA and Thank You! your efforts last night are ever-so-much appreciated and you have saved “someone” from hours and hours of grief in the process: you may officially double your volunteer salary (but ONLY for November)

personally I think it’d be awesome if, next game, first offensive huddle the Chiefs’ entire Offense strolls up to the line shouting, in unison: “TRAVIS FUCKING KELCE!” get set, get the snap and it’s a run to Pacheco
