Good morning AG!

Today in Chiefs’ history:

In what one Sandy Eggo Charger called “the worst night ever,” the Kansas City Chiefs beat their AFC West rivals 23-20 in overtime. Tommy Brooker (placekicker/end, 1962-1966) born in 1939, Lloyd Burruss (S 1981-91) born in 1957. Burruss is the only Chief to ever be selected Mack Lee Hill award winner (1981), team MVP (1985), and member of the Chiefs Hall of Fame.

Some other stuff may have happened:

In 1517, Theologian Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, beginning the Protestant Reformation.

In 1860, Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, was born in Savannah, Georgia.

Nevada became the 36th state of the United States on this date in 1864.

In 1922, Benito Mussolini became Prime Minister of Italy; he would later establish the world’s first fascist dictatorship. Il Duce’s rise to power would inspire the rise of other dictators, like Adolf Hitler.

In 1926, escape artist Harry Houdini met perhaps his greatest challenge yet when he was unable to escape from peritonitis; Houdini would die of the condition, which arose from a stomach injury.

In 1941, Mount Rushmore was completed after nearly 15 years of work; the massive monument features the heads of US presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

US president Lyndon Johnson ordered a cessation of American bombing of North Vietnam on this date in 1968.

Scottish-born Sean Connery, who played Indiana Jones’s father in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and afterward helped people hunt for Red October, died on this date in 2020 at the age of 90.

The news.

Andy Reid Gives Ominous Update on Mansoor Delane Injury | Heavy.com

The Chiefs may be down a key defender when they take the field at Whatever-it’s-Called Field at Mile High on Sunday; first-round cornerback Mansoor Delane emerged on the injury report with a shoulder injury. Reid did not officially rule out the rookie cornerback from LSU, but did not say whether he would play; he is, as fans hate to hear, “day-to-day.”
Delane did practice Wednesday, but not Thursday, and the injury appears to be to the same shoulder that was aggravated during OTAs and in the Chiefs’ opening game against the Broncos in Week 1. If Delane doesn’t get the nod, it’s likely that Kristian Fulton will take his place come game time.

Answering Ten Questions Ahead of Sunday’s Chiefs-Broncos Heavyweight Showdown | TSN.ca (the Canadian ESPN)

https://www.tsn.ca/nfl/article/answering-10-questions-ahead-of-sundays-chiefs-broncos-heavyweight-showdown-n1-50319759

The Chiefs’ pass rush has struggled since the opener. What’s been the biggest issue?
One of the biggest problems is the lack of productivity from All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones, who has struggled to beat double teams at the rate he has in the past. Jones has recorded only a half-sack this season. George Karlaftis, the “Greek Freak,” has been able to generate consistent pressure, but has only recorded one sack.
With all their injuries at receiver, where will the big plays come from in the Chiefs’ passing game?
The safe answer based on the past two games is tight end Travis Kelce, who is still Mahomes’ most reliable pass catcher. The Chiefs are optimistic that [Rashee] Rice, who was hurt in Week 4, can be effective against the Broncos’ zone coverage. But without receiver Tyquan Thornton, who had a ghastly ankle dislocation, the Chiefs have not been able to produce deep completions.
Xavier Worthy is still a deep option, but he has only one reception in which the ball traveled more than 20 yards downfield. Rookie wideout Cyrus Allen should get more opportunities as the Chiefs try to incrementally increase his development.

Former Chiefs Star’s Wife Opens Up about His Tragic Death at 37 | Gridiron Heroics

RIP Allen Bailey.
Allen Bailey’s wife, Lauren, found the former Chief (2011-2018) deceased inside their Florida residence on October 20. Though official autopsy reports have not been released, tributes poured in from Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, the latter of whom played with Allen Bailey in 2018.
“Obviously, it’s terrible to hear the news that we heard,” Mahomes said. “I mean, a great teammate. […] You know, like he makes plays, but he’s not necessarily the superstar, but the guy that kind of makes everything go.”
Bailey played for the Chiefs to open his career, and recorded a career-best 6.0 sacks in 2018, his final year with the team.

Dave Toub Explains Why Chiefs Signed Justin Tucker | Gridiron Heroics

Chiefs’ special teams coordinator Dave Toub revealed that Tucker, who has been surrounded by controversy and whose recent signing raised eyebrows throughout Chiefs Kingdom, “earned his spot on the practice squad.” Toub built a workout consisting of 30 field goals, 10 extra points, and seven kicks from greater than 50 yards. Tucker made every attempt, with around 60 percent of his kicks landing inside a six-foot cylinder between the uprights.
Toub, however, stressed that Harrison Butker is still the Chiefs’ primary kicker, adding that the signing was a way to help Butker get back on track.

What NFL Draft Experts Saw in Omarr Norman-Lott Before Chiefs Selected Him | Arrowhead Addict

Yes, the Chiefs have a player named Omarr Norman-Lott. The Chiefs drafted him in 2025, and he played five games before suffering an ACL injury and landing on injured reserve.
The move was unpopular at the time, but NFL execs tend to see more than the general public, and Brett Veach saw “an energetic pass rusher with a high pressure rate” who “has the potential to become a rotational defender and sub-package rusher,” according to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com prior to the NFL draft.
Up to now, Norman-Lott has five tackles and one QB hit over 73 snaps played before losing 2025 to injury. However, the young defensive lineman might be coming back; Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports that he is returning to practice.
Though it remains to be seen how much he will contribute, the Chiefs will no doubt be glad to have another rotational piece up front on defense.

That should be everything, Chiefs fans! Enjoy your weekend, and may your college teams all win today – unless one of those teams is Ohio State, in which case, may the Buckeyes be roundly defeated in spectacular and humiliating fashion.
Don’t forget, you can catch Mitch Holthus and Danan Hughes – the best in the business – on the Chiefs Radio Network come game day. Unless you’re one of those people who prefers lackluster, schlocky TV commentary of course…
And as always, go Chiefs!
