Into The Afternight: Our 3rd Shift O/T
11 repliesIf you’re still up and want to talk Chiefs, or just hang with fellow citizens of the Kingdom, this is the place.
I know that there are those who believe that guns not only should be owned, but also not even be mentioned. I don’t care, ignoring reality is no way of improving it.
At least I gotcha some Chiefs stuff, so don’t hate me for being me. Your turn.
With that, time’s yours.
If I recall, Alex Jones suggested that the corporate elite were harvesting the blood of young people to stay alive and was called crazy. It seems like as more time passes, that guy just ends up being more correct.
Perhaps, but there’s the shotgun effect to consider first, throw enough shit out there, and some of it’s bound to stick to something else, if only a little. Which leads to the second point, selection via postdiction. Nostradamus fans have been flogging that dead horse for centuries, and it consists of taking the latest big news item and trying to find correlations between that and what was originally said. And how hard do they try? Just hard enough to find their “proof”, of course. Proving things like context, let alone self-consistency on the point being made from elsewhere is just too much work, once you’ve found the “right” result.
I view Jones as being a sort of Art Bell of the internet, with a lot fewer interesting guests, a higher level of host credulity and buy-in (Hi, George!), and a similar business model. Taking people like that seriously will lead you nowhere, and fast. They can’t back up their failures, so they don’t bother, hoping they’re forgotten in the marketing of each “success”. Bah, cut-rate fortunetellers, the lot of them, just more Miss Cleos, with a more palatable business model than that scam.
ERMAGERD, genetic engineering is one of the Seven Seals of the Apocalypse! Well, no, not really, and most of the alarming things you hear are actually potential extremes, not real likelihoods. How can I back this up? Here’s the tale of how research led to genetic engineering that saved and/or improved hundreds of millions of lives – and it’s been going on since the 80s. Fuck Neil Young, the diabetic who protests genetic engineering. It has been keeping him alive all these years, so would he prefer more dead pigs, instead? Here’s science he has to ignore, or he’d have to change that view.
I’m a grown man who has spent much of his life on the wrong side of the tracks, but I’ve also encountered my share of biker types who doted on tiny dogs. Being tough doesn’t mean giving up on the adorbs, that’s the product of being just plain mean. I love me some adorbs.
The rest of the afternight has yet to be written, but today has continued to be a very good day for me. If this holds, maybe I can hit what my previous normal was, which would be nice. Ah, well, life’s a losing game, in the long run, because entropy has no mind or soul, and therefore doesn’t care. Still, getting back to holding the previous line would be nice, as it would be easier to find new ways to make limited gains.
Y’all don’t think rebuilding the fundamental understandings one learns from the age of 8 on can be done in less than a decade, do you? I mean, there’s so much y’all get at the almost instinctive level, especially over the course of the decade following that birthday. How am I supposed to revise what I was using instead, that worked well enough to keep the slide downward as slow as possible? Taking a car, restoring a badly damaged body, re-wiring it, and rebuilding the engine, tranny and pumpkin would be quicker and easier, as an at-home amateur “expert’s” hobby project. They’d have specs and reference sources, and there are none that I can use.
