A brief word. If I’m a bad leader because I don’t follow the right crowd, then the word leader loses all meaning. I haven’t changed, the situation has, and if I’m goring your ox this time, get a grip. I don’t follow your crowd, and the only crowd I do follow is the one heading into the Sacred Acre on game days. If you don’t like it, tough. Attacking me personally won’t make my points invalid, and if taking those shots makes you feel good, then you should take more time bettering yourself than trying to better me. I have anger problems that I work hard to control, so who’s the next to take advantage of that to make me look bad? You’re pissed? You have no idea.

If you want to argue politics, simply go to today’s politics sub-forum.
That way, everyone is covered!
I do think that once real football starts, we’ll be back to arguing and name calling about the Chiefs, like we should be.

I think AG should get an influx of people once the bullets start flying (season starts) and don’t think we should be scaring anyone off.
I also hope Tony will boost his twitter presence so this site becomes known by more people. Maybe make some splash taeks that get passed around.
Trouble is, any mention of current events, even Chiefs’ related,z can be turned political when the original comment was politically neutral.

Discussions will likely continue, as they should.
My OPINION is that I disagree. the discussions aren’t discussions, they are mostly attacks. Do people really feel they are going to win an argument on the internet? Why they are on this site still is perplexing.. Let’s think about it – “I’m really upset about XXX (the latest political deal)… I’m going to go on a Chiefs site and vent about it”. Nothing logical about that. There are sites dedicated to that already. so instead of going to the proper place to vent, we go to a football site. I like everything about this site, including the people, except the political discussions. and they are bad enough to drive me away. I check back every so often and they are still here. I was told its just the off-season – it will get better when football starts… well it isn’t getting any better, its actually getting worse. Sad.
I get your point, but for some, the OT threads have become a hangout, not strictly chiefs. Much like a going to a bar where everyone knows your name. Politics often comes up in those places. People go there after work to decompress, and that often means venting about “the man” and shit. If these topics bleed into chiefs topics, I’d be concerned, but in an OT I just shrug it off.
Ya, last night was a shit show. Glad I left early.. think of all the Conversations we could have if there was more than 10 people on it every evening.. No one’s going to join into that mess..

If this was a bar, it will be closing down soon because half the people will say screw it – I just wanted a beer and had to listen to all this bullshit. From that point forward is just becomes a dive, and its on its way…

Evening OTs have always been any “any topic” gathering place. Jokes, music, cars etc. Politics get bad cause some folks cannot stay civil. I use to engage them, now I ignore, but am happy to disagree, and say so, with those that don’t have the need to be insulting.
Then we need a rule to limit the political talk AND guidelines on what is acceptable interaction/postings. I think we all know when something is over the line, but not much we can do about it
There are TOS that are frequently violated by a certain few. I know a timeout or two have been issued, while I am against outright ban there are a couple that rightfully deserve one.

one thing that’s been bugging me lately …
so many “complaints” about the OTs and “Politics” and yet we have excellent posts from Tony (his series on each division, etc) and even better and more excellent posts from Nate, and yet they rarely garner more than 10-15 comments … why is that???
if everyone wants to talk about the Chiefs (and ONLY the Chiefs) why are there so few comments to some pretty awesome posts? (Nate, especially, does incredible research and has knowledge of the game far beyond a lot of us, yet so few of us bother to read and/or comment) … just trying to figure out why you’re so bugged about the OT’s
Well, mostly because, while the posts are great and in depth, they are still only about ONE subject. No posts, none, on a narrow subject, especially one we likely agree on, is going to generate much traffic from the 15 or so normal posters here.

The lack of comments on Nate’s articles is a travesty.
I am one of the guilty parties. He’s our best football writer by far, and we almost ignore his articles. All the other writers have moved on to greener pastures, including at least a couple that left due to politics.
I fear that this site will die out if this continues.
People come here because, contrary to appearances, I think we all (most)(some?) consider this a small community of like minded people. Since it is a small group (at least posting group), we seem to poke at buttons more than we might on another site.
I don’t want to talk about current events with total strangers, so I come here and talk about them with a few of my close, personal strangers.
You know who you need to talk to if you want to stifle the politics. Tony gets what Tony wants. At least here.
It will not get better, I’m afraid. Midterms are coming, the right and left are worse to each other than 6 years ago, and who is to blame is opinion and I have mine.
We all seem to have to endure something to stick around, and I agree, it’s sometimes hard to see that it’s worth it.
I’m just basically ignoring my personal thorn. Not sure why he’s so wound up, but even less sure I care.
Whoever is your thorn, try to just post around them. It’s sad it comes to that, but without a site statement on acceptable posts and conduct, that’s what we have to do.
Again, Peace, Brag. You do a lot for the site and you shouldn’t feel attacked on it.

Agree. This site was established because our opinions were stifled at another place. If some people don’t want to participate then don’t. You have to consider the source concerning threats and name calling. There’s only a couple of people doing that. I find the evening threads fun for the most part. Last night got a little out of hand, but that’ll happen. If all some want to talk about is the Chiefs (which I totally understand), then go back to another place. This is a community with a variety of interests and we express them.

Maybe I’m really jaded, but I didn’t think last night was that bad.
The usual suspects standing their usual ground, tossing their usual loaded phrases. On balance, I wasn’t too put off by last night.
But, then again, I’m used to this…
