Travis Kelce showed support to his Chiefs teammate Kingsley Suamataia following his benching, Kelce called him ‘family.’ : clutchpoints
The Kansas City Chiefs stumbled in a frustrating 28-24 loss to the rival Denver Broncos in Week 8, but internal lineup drama stole the spotlight alongside the division defeat. Head coach Andy Reid made a surprising pregame decision to bench starting left guard Kingsley Suamataia in favor of veteran offensive lineman Mike Caliendo. It marked Suamataia’s second benching within the last month, following a similar move in Week 4 against the Las Vegas Raiders….

“I mean, I’ve just got to be better. I still haven’t gotten a chance to look at it, but, regardless, I’ve just got to be better,” he said, according to ESPN’s Nate Taylor. “With [the game] being so tight, the situation that it was, it just hurts even more.”

It was all on display against Denver in a breakout game despite Kansas City’s disappointing 28-24 loss as Johnson racked up a career-best 187 total yards, including 143 from scrimmage, and added a special teams tackle for good measure — all of which he felt was a little for naught…

It’s really hard not to point at the ref’s for this one. Calls all game long were suspect. Gronk is an idiot.
The problem is that the announcers and all owe their jobs to the NFL, so they have to tow the line
Complaints:
NFL needs to fix the refs. My “guy on the couch” idea is still valid and should still be used by the NFL.Our line SHOULD have been pretty good this season.Simmons: Bad back and personal issues?Suamataia: Keeps pissing Andy Reid off. He’s been benched TWICE for reasons that are “between Kingsley and Andy”. WTF?!?Fans are stupid. I saw people calling for Andy Reid to be fired. Anyone saying that is, to put it lightly, dumb. If we fire him, we have to replace him. With who? All coaches not currently coaching have already been fired multiple times, or are permanently retired. All these teams out there are constantly changing coaches, and they live in permanent purgatory. STUPID.PENALTIES. Every season. Penalties.Encouragement:
We were 1 yard from victory. We had them right where we wanted them. Marched down the field in the 2-minute drill, leaving only seconds on the clock at the 1 yard line. We had ’em dead to rights. We win this game 4/5 times. The quick passing game worked brilliantly, moved the ball, got the whole offense in sync, and largely kept Pat on his feet. Even scored the would-be game-winner with a quick pass (fucking penalties).Emmett Johnson is the real deal. He should see more playing time as our gadget guy.The Chiefs are a good team. They have 10 games left to either fix their issues, which are mostly fixable. We’ve had these exact struggles before and still won Super Bowls.
I agree. Although, I rarely say this, but the reffing was pretty biased. 11 accepted penalties on us, for 105 yards, and something like 6 on them for 60 yards. the timing of the calls on use were pretty important. also, we have the ball spotting deal, where they spotted it 2 yards away to make us punt, then when there wasn’t enough time to switch from the punt team, they moved it to the half foot line.. pretty sad
The NFL has to fix the officiating. It’s only getting worse every year.
To be fair on the last kickoff Im not sure what the refs were looking at. The big screen at the game just kept showing johnson step out of bounds over and over and over again and Sean Payton is sitting there like arent you going to fix this. Just bizarre.
I said after the game yesterday it was going to be a tough win, if we won. The most disappointing thing about it is our staff knows how these guys play the game. They kind of stumble around, stay in touch with their opponent, then take it over in the 4th quarter. We knew this, and yet we couldn’t stop it. Was it the elevation? Maybe. Was it the game plan? Maybe. We have lots of questions and not many answers. We have a three-game stretch we need to take advantage of, because after that things get difficult. We should make the playoffs, but nothing is guaranteed at this point. Going into the draft my only request was finish the rebuild of the Oline. Use one of our high picks and get someone. Patrick was coming off his injury and I wanted good protection in front of him. I was basically mocked for that position. I have no idea what’s going on there, but it’s not good. That’s for sure.
Its been disappointing but no guarentee that we go get a new guard and he doesn’t piss in the shower like kingsley as well.
I think a healthy willing to play offensive line of simmons, kingsley, creed, trey and Moore would be a very good line. Benson as a back up tackle. Not sure if we have a great option at back up interior line.
I thought Esa Pole did an admirable job filling in last year and we kicked him to the curb in favor of that turd that played last week (im not learning his name because why). Now we have a RG and RT that dont seem interested in playing.
I thought our line was going to be decent, but that was before the latest Simmons affair, and from what I’m seeing around the league, a team needs to have a couple starting caliber lineman in reserve to handle the toll of the season.
I mean the draft is a crapshoot. We got a cb, dline, and edge with our first three picks. All 3 of those positions are positions of need and the players picked are getting time.
i think all 3 of them are injured
I mean injuries happen. I dont think any of them were injury prone in college.
more on the ball spotting incident – just one more of the gaffes on the ref’s part….

I know I wasn’t around much this offseason but this place feels like its following the trajectory of Chris Jones career. Sadly started to post back the old site because there’s just not much discussion anymore.
Didnt sleep much after that shit show last night. Andy really shit the bed.
I know what you are saying – I hope it will pick up a bit after the election is over. right now, most people are talking about the election in the tent.
Game thread posts are way down. Especially for a shit show ending like yesterday.
Like I said. Went over to the dark side to post and get some interaction last night. And while it did scratch the itch, it definitely reminded why I like this place. No trolls from other teams. Not as many stick in the mud type guys. Instantly got into an argument over Chris Jones with multiple guys who thought he’s still good based on some pff type stats about how much he “wins” and how many times he gets double teamed.
I know I wasn’t on the game thread last night, because I could actually watch it on TV here, and was with the grandkids. I didn’t want to explain to them what “fuck’n refs” means…
I wasn’t on there either. I was sitting about 100 ft away from game losing endzone. It was definitely exciting, but ultimately disappointing. Much more fun going to mile high when mahomes always won.
I think the team looks a lot better than last week. I suspect the defense was getting gassed toward the end, which allowed them to score. The higher altitude has to take its toll
Yeah, a lot of people left over the last few years.
Losing Ups was a big hit to this site.
yup
So selfish of him. Didnt he know how important he was to our blog
