With the 2nd Overall Pick, the 49ers Select…

I never did like Steve Keim. I mean, maybe I did at one time, but now, not so much.

Quinnen Williams was my target — with everyone drooling over the Nick Bosa’s and Josh Allen’s in this draft, all I needed was a solid DT to join Solomon Thomas, Arik Armstead, and DeForest Buckner. I just brought in this Ford kid, but everyone knows he’s no good against the run …

I even contemplated another trade with Kansas City for that Jones guy, but now that Mahomes is there, they don’t have a need for any of our quarterbacks.

In the real world I would likely shop offers to trade down a few spots. The Giants number six pick seems ideal — the Jets may take a guy I like, but Gruden is probably angling for a quarterback, and I don’t see Jameis Winston and Bruce Arians working well in the long run. Gettleman would probably be desperate to jump up and grab Eli Mannings’ doppelganger, Daniel Jones.

Sadly, with no trades available, I’m going to continue a long tradition in San Francisco and make an iffy decision. With the second pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the 49ers select: Ed Oliver

Sure he’s a tad undersized. Sure he would probably fall somewhere in the 6-15 range. Sure my defensive line is already pretty strong and I could probably look at different positions of need. But this front would be absolutely nasty — and being as I have to face the high-scoring (unless it’s the Superbowl) Rams, as well as Russell Wilson, getting pressure quickly will be tantamount for our team.

And since Keim decided to keep Rosen, let’s go ahead and make him wonder if a more mobile Murray would’ve been the way to go …

a very petty John Lynch.

Maybe a small reach but solid pick.

Is this not BPA, not position of need double whammy?

Oh, no! Does this mean we get both Bosa brothers in the AFC West?

…they don’t have a need for any of our quarterbacks.

Still too soon.

I do not approve this pick as I was expecting Oliver be available as an option at #12. Nuts. Better do a little more homework, maybe look a little more closely at OL prospects, maybe cast the rune sticks re Fant vs Hockenson, trying to do right by GB here.

I do not like this pick for the 49ers. Remember when the Jets kept drafting DL and they never got better as a team? Same deal here. You’re wasting an opportunity to bring in better talent elsewhere: Nick Bosa on the edge, Jonah Williams at OT, or Devin White at LB all would help the team more than Oliver will.

I think in this scenario Oliver gets an edge dude to his inside/outside versatility. Also, having just traded/signed for Ford, I agree DT is more of a priority for them now than doubling down on EDGE.

Dangit…I’m defending Dave, arent I?

Fun fact, Dave literally did nothing but text me expletive laced tangents about the Cardinals taking his pick, and as he was doing so I was reading the write-up for the Cards saying they did it to troll SF.

It was just a perfect setup, especially for Dave who said SF was going to be the most boring pick of the draft.

I lol’d a lot.

I do like you Dave. Really. But the downvote is because your pick helps Gruden, Inc.

I think helping the Raiders violates the 10 Commandments of being a Chiefs fan. Im not sure which one but it has to.

That’s assuming that Chucky would draft intelligently. Be interesting to see how Mayock drafts. I stand to think he would be pretty conventional.

I personally hope the Raiders use their first round picks on punters…
