Winners/Losers: Chiefs Vs Bills

Well that sucked

A short one this time. A combination of the game running late and not really feeling like reliving that in too much detail.

Winners

The Rain

People are obsessed with how teams can stop Mahomes, and for good reason. His level of play is completely unprecedented for somebody at this point in his career. So far the answers were either injury or having no offensive line, but we can add severe rainstorms to the list.

Mahomes didn’t look great before halftime, but he really struggled afterwards with 3 turnovers. Mother Nature managed to do something mere mortals have never managed.

Losers

The Kansas City Chiefs

Just everybody. All the players. All the coaches. The cheerleaders, the accountants, the janitors. If there was a reverse Super Bowl Ring for bad performances they’d be handing them out this morning.

Running backAllen was the Bills’ only successful ball carrier against the Chiefs. Zack Moss and Devin Singletary combined for 17 carries and picked up only two first downs, with their longest run going for just nine yards.

Offensive lineThe Chiefs’ offensive line was tasked with 31 total true pass sets, 38 when you include plays negated by penalty. Four of the five starters lost two or fewer reps on that massive load. Lucas Niang provided the only blemish, as the right tackle allowed six pressures and lost eight total reps on true pass sets.

LinebackerKansas City’s young linebackers shined against Buffalo while veteran Anthony Hitchens struggled. Hitchens allowed three first downs in coverage and owns a PFF grade in the low 40s upon first review.
Rookie Nick Bolton tallied a couple of tackles for loss against the run and a passing stop, while 2020 second-round pick Willie Gay Jr. produced one stop against the run and pass on his limited action (25 snaps). Both players have a grade above 75.0 on first review.

PFF KC Chiefs
@PFF_Chiefs
The Chiefs had some young contributors make splash plays on both sides of the ball against the Bills.

Here are the 5 highest graded Chiefs from last night:

1. Creed Humphrey – 78.3
2. Rashad Fenton – 77.1
3. Orlando Brown – 75.3
4. Derek Nnadi – 73.7
5. Willie Gay Jr. – 70.1

Loser: Me for showing up thinking we might get it together. Stoopid me. I agree the team looks beat. I remember when no amount of points we were behind was an issue. Because Mahomes. Now we are back to “here we go again” because “Chiefs”

Buffalo has not beaten a team with a winning record this year (combined 8-17 record for opponents)

lot was made of teams 3-2 vs 2-3 as to whether they could win a Super Bowl historically
only issue
The NFL now has a 17 game schedule, which sorta throw old stats out the window

Just looking for some sunshine

the teams we have played have a combined record currently before the Ravens play tonight of 16-8
remove the Chiefs from that record and they are a combined 13-6
3 of the 5 teams are in 1st place in their division

luckily for me

last night the delay pretty much sent me to bad before the 2nd half started

The Chiefs have 3 games upcoming that we should be able to win and get right again

The Chiefs still have 12 games to win the West yet 🙂

Here’s how that goes, we beat enough shitty bottom of the barrel teams to squeak into the playoffs, then lose the 1st round… sound familiar.. same old chiefs…. Rinse and repeat….

I would say that is the way most NFL teams with 500 million dollar QB’s have to do it.

Get in and then you let the Rodgers, Brady, or Manning get you the ring

not gonna say anything because at this point it would be “piling on” and I’d get a 15-yard penalty … my goodness, what a horrific game (not gonna blame the refs, not even gonna blame the weather)

as Tony so succinctly put it: just everybody

Winners: I hate to say it but I think CEH getting hurt is going to help play calling. Instead of giving him the ball like he is Jamal Charles, the O can do what they do best and just play catch.

Losers: Coaches and the play calling. I know the looks the Bills gave on first down tempted them to run but it wasn’t working at all and you could see Pattrick expressing it during the game. As far as the D goes how about instead of pretending to blitz and then dropping back why don’t we just, you know blitz. If they get burned by it so be it but getting burned when everyone is dropping back is just sad. I would also suggest a quick snap every once in a while especially while the D line is in a shift. A silent snap count can be just as effective as a hard count. I also think someone may have suggested once or twice that one of our safeties be benched for ugly-looking plays.

WINNERS:
The Bills are now the best team in the AFC, by far. Congrats to them.

LOSERS:
The Chiefs should fall to at least 15 in the power rankings. After week 2, #1 was way too high.

I was convinced we were close and just needed to tighten things up and quit the turnovers. I now think there is something actually wrong. All 3 games we lost, I noticed the players on the sidelines looked totally deflated. There is something wrong with the morale. I am used to seeing them all playing and laughing and being pumped up for the last 3 years. Now I see a lot of sad faces, even in the first quarter.

I think other teams have figured out Reid and Mahomes. I always said Reid is playing 3D chess, but he couldn’t have won checkers against a 4 year old last night.

The first two reads NEVER seem to be open. Mahomes just holds and holds until he has to bail and then no one gets open for him to throw to. I’m not sure if it’s Mahomes not wanting to pull the trigger, all or our receivers are really just that covered, or if the plays being called are the exact wrong play to call for that defense, every time.

The defense… can it actually be worse than the 2003 Chiefs defense? So far, yes.

I think the only way this team turns it around is with some kind of major change of attitude/morale and to get a few players out of there and replaced.

Which is why this is so disconcerting. Our flaws were exposed in the SB and the reaction from our players. We had an entire off-season to make the changes required and didn’t. We fixed the Oline (it takes time to gel) but did very little about our defense. Our D has been average at best for a few years now. It’s almost like the entire organization believes that whatever happens Patrick will bail us out. I think he is forcing things because of it.

We had a lot of things bounce our way the last two years.. how many games did we win under 7 pts. That shit is bouncing they other way now .
And yep Tampa showed the world how to beat us, and it seems we have done nothing to correct that shit show.
And don’t even get me started on the defense… ugh……

Losers

1. Dan Sorenson in pass coverage

2. Dan Sorenson in run support

3. Spags for allowing Sorenson to play.

4. Reid for having Sorenson active for the game.

5. Veach for keeping Sorenson on the roster.

Winner
Hardman. He had a good game.

Berserker loves you … the REAL issue is that pretty much everyone on the Defense got beat more than once

Safties, CBs, LBs, DEs, DTs, Spags, Hitchens, Matthieu … yup … it was “coordinated effort” that resulted in a complete failure

DenverDonkeyHater
DenverDonkeyHater
10/11/2021 2:27 pm

Losers:
1. Tyreek Hill – dropped 1st down at 10 yard line. Drop turned into pick 6. Both right through the hands.
2. Pringle – 2 fumbles on kick offs in consecutive weeks. No bueno.
3. Spags/dirty dan – I cant really blame dirty dan. He tries his hardest every down. Hes just not good. Especially not good enough to play 100% of the snaps. Do your job and bench that man.
4. Spags – manufacture something. Thats your job. Do your job.
5. Andy Reid aggressiveness – he needs to go for it more on 4th down and short. I know he did it a couple of times but the times he didnt the defense allowed the bills to get back to the old los in 3 plays and 1 play. I trust Pat (not our running game) to get 2 yards more than our D holding the opposing team from regaining 40 yards.
6. Oline – after they looked really good last week especially running the ball, they looked average to poor last night.
7. Pat – needs to be better.
