if anyone’s interested, a “repeat” of one of my best blues shows: Guitar Heaven … tomorrow (Wed) 8-11 AG time https://blues-at.co.uk/

on the other hand, if you happen to be somewhere in the world where it’s ALREADY tomorrow, then the show is “later today” 2-5 PM London Daylight Time (or whatever)

speaking of which, I loathe, hate and detest Daylight Savings Time, I feel like I’ve been robbed of the ONE thing that can’t be replaced: time (which theoretically doesn’t exist except as a man-made construct, in which case why bother with DST at all?)

still, I’m NOT happy … none of my sundials work now

hope everyone’s well

The Brigade Combat Team (BCT) is the basic combined arms building block of the Army. It is a permanent, stand-alone, self-sufficient, and standardized tactical force of about 4,000 soldiers. At present, the Army consists of 60 BCTs, with 32 BCTs in the Regular Army (RA) and 28 BCTs in the Army National Guard (ARNG)

so a basic modern unit

As of August 2021, Russia had about 170 BTGs.[3] Each BTG has approximately 600–800 officers and soldiers,[4] of whom roughly 200 are infantrymen, equipped with vehicles typically including roughly 10 tanks and 40 infantry fighting vehicles.[5]: pp. 11–13

I know highlight videos don’t tell the whole story, but I’m curious as to why this guy went undrafted. He looks like he’s got great vision. Would think that would warrant at least a late rounder. But then again, every team passed on Priest.

Breaks tackles, good vision, quick cuts, catches the ball well downfield as well as in the flats, showed kick return ability. It looks like he’s got everything except the size, and you’ve got to wonder about that with the way he’d carry the pile for extra yardage. Definitely looks like he’s worth a look to me.

Belarus is moving special forces to border with UkraineFrom CNN’s Olga Voitovych
The Armed Forces of Belarus will deploy special forces to the border of Ukraine because “the United States and its allies continue to increase their military presence at the state borders,” according to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Viktor Gulevich.
“In order to ensure the security of the Republic of Belarus in the southern direction, the forces of the units of the special operations forces are deployed in three tactical directions,” according to a statement Tuesday.
It said the Ukrainians had created a force of 20,000 close to the Belarus border, which “requires a response from us.”

just asking

is 40 percent of the total Ukraine population now in the military?

US Confederacy

From a small regular army of approximately 16,000 in 1860, the two sides put about three million men in the field during the course of the four-year conflict. Historians concede that exact numbers are unattainable, but estimates of total Confederates under arms is between 800,000 and 1,200,000.

he’s ALREADY wiped out most of Ukraine … coupla days ago they obliterated some tiny little town, esp a house a museum of one of Ukraine’s most famous authors (or whatever) from like 300 years ago … that’s not targeting infrastructure or “normal” military accepted targets, bombing schools that are shelters, rounding up civilians en masse and taking them across the border to Russia, the mass graves, etc … it’s genocide

Putin is the new Hitler … and while it’s not “legal” in terms of NATO and World Treaties and whatnot, I’d be delighted if Biden said “fuck this shit” and sent 50,000 planes to “carpet bomb” every Russian tank, Armored Carrier, Truck, Car and Rail and Ship all the way from the Ukrainian border to and including the Kremlim

(just my opinion, of course)

I think Hoosier has a point there, as the traditional media has a well-established history of mischaracterizing things to sell ad space.

As for the “leaders” you mention, what stands out to me is the Chinese one likely expects his plans to extend past his lifetime. China has a well-established history of playing the long game.

Stop blaming “the media”. “The media” is all of it, right or left. Start blaming those who pander to it. Blame those who are “the media” but spend their entire shows complaining about “the media”.
The problem isn’t Fox or CNN. It’s 24hr news cycles that need to be filled and the doofuses who have either one on for 17 of those 24hrs, soaking it up like a sponge. The 24hr news cycle, the internet chats where anyone can say anything without repercussions, and now podcasts where the same thing happens only just one guy gets to spew, they are both problems. They feed the beast.

I really don’t understand the recent spike in a love for hating all things Nazi. Let me clarify before things derail too badly. I’m not saying I don’t understand that there was a lot of evil in regards to the Nazis. But recently hating Nazis feels more like a bragging point than anything actually justifiable. That’s what I don’t understand. Why there’s such a fad nowadays to hate all things Nazi.

It wasn’t this bad when I was a kid or a young adult. It was more about the commies than the Nazis, and even that was dying down. It’s spiked a lot on recent years. Sure there’s always been some love for thinking the worst of Nazis, but we just didn’t talk about it much because Nazis were a thing of the past. You studied it for academic reasons to understand the evils that went on, but there wasn’t a vehement hated and a need to let everyone around know that you had said vehement hated.

Even as recent as the 80s and 90s. Not to peak Cold War levels, but the parents of the kids of that time lived through the worst of the Cold War so it was still fairly fresh to them. Look at how many movies from the 80s still has the Soviets as the big bads.

that’s what it looked like to me … sorry if I misunderstood, but it resembled a “Nazi Apology” of sorts somewhere along the line …

I never once said they were fine people. I said lumping everyone under one umbrella is lazy, and it is. As I’m mentioned several times tonight modern day “Nazis” are not carbon copies of the Germany Nazis. Labeling them as such confuses relevant details about who you are talking about. You want to continue to label them as such, by all means, I can’t stop you. But the academic with OCD in me sees the improper lumping of all extreme right groups as Nazis as lazy. Nazi was the name of the political party, not the ultra right ideal that has been around long before WWII. That’s us just not being bothered to properly label things

But the ideologies align, for the most part, with a tweak here or there depending on political contingencies/opportunities.
i.e. Jews/communists/gays vs LGBTQ/pedo (also Jews etc.)

I guess we should refer to all shades of red as just red. There should be no confusion when we do that

well, it IS true that “red is red” … from a technical standpoint

But as I said, Nazi was the party, not the ideal. It’s like saying I’m going to refer to all shades of red as maroon because the other shades share a core element

For 1930-40s Germany. That’s my point. The ideal was around prior to that, and will be for centuries after (unfortunately extremism will always exist).

Nat Socialism (NAZIS) sentiment has taken hold the last 2 decades, and have been emboldened in that pursuit in many places, that’s why.
Putin is using as propaganda which infiltrates radical right ideology…it is a thing

As I stated already, that sentiment wasn’t created by Nazis. We don’t need to label every ultra-right movement as Nazi. They have many similarities, but are not 1:1 carbon copies of each other. Lumping then as the same thing is lazy

I’m actually not even sure how the nazi people got branded as right wing. I’m pretty damn conservative and I am against everything they stood for. I think the newer version of the “skinheads” are just a gang using whatever as an excuse for violence.

It’s because they are the extreme version of conservative ideals. They are what you become when you are so resistant to change that you will kill to keep things pure. Most conservatives are like you and think this extreme version is appalling. But they are on the right side of the scale if you are using the stereotypical left-right political scale.

My guess is that it’s because for the first time in god knows how long, there are people who proudly and publicly flaunt Nazi stuff. You never had to hate Nazis, because it was understood that EVERYONE hated them. Apparently, we were mistaken.

Yeah I guess. I’m not really sure that it’s more prevalent now than when I was younger, but the interwebs makes them more noticeable.

the interwebs makes them more noticeable

a distinct possibility

then too, seems like more “Extreme Right” events the last few years (attacks on black churches, synagogues, vandalism here and there, etc) than previously, more “out in the open” extremist groups

again, happened often, more widely known now.
Local news here would have desecration of temples/graves at least 6-8 times a year in the 80-90s (the ones that made the news)
