Last time the Patriots had a losing record this late in the season? 2002.

They were 3-4 after 7 games and finished 9-7 missing the playoffs.

Also 2-3 in 2001. Fluked the SB that year though.

We used to have a need for individual players to lead in their skill group (aka Pro Bowls)

People wonder why KC bothers to keep D-Rob around, but I expect things like NLPs and other specialty stuff are an element, along with a list of other things that the fans don’t care whether they’re done well or poorly, but are still necessary to run this offense.

D Rob is fine for the price we are paying him. I would just prefer the snap counts between him and Pringle were reversed.

I don’t think I can handle it if Pringle turns into another Joe Horn.

I sorta started wondering why Remmers was playing left guard where he had never played before

He was the Backup Tackle

Allegretti has some mauler and he is a Guard

BleedingRedAndGold
Reply to  steve_chiefs

The OL became something of an ad hoc grouping, so I don’t want to place too much seriousness into predicting their future, but if they can play that well regularly, sign me up. Especially if it can spell Mitch some. Back injuries and hamstring injuries are tricky things, so if they can do it I’d take’em to Denver. That’s not exactly a powerhouse defense right now, so it seems a reasonable risk.

Kilgore is on borrowed time at his age – Remmers did a decent job for a veteran utility lineman – Allegretti showed starter potential. Wylie is on borrowed time and Schwartz is a potential cap casualty next year if Niang looks to be ready to fill in.

I didn’t mean long-term, I just meant for the next game or two to get some guys healthy. Allegretti has an obvious nasty streak, should be a good fit next to Fish, if his pass blocking is competent.

Back injuries worry me. If the five that finished the game can hold down the fort for a couple-few week, maybe he can get it settled back down with the rest and therapy. I’d rather go without him until he’s closer to 100% right now than lose him for the season later.

Or whatever configuration Reid prefers, he knows his OL stuff, but I really would like to see Mitch take some time to heal up, he hasn’t been looking good out there. I’m guessing it’s because of his back.

BleedingRedAndGold
Reply to  Severely Concussed

If Pringle has to leave KC because he’s a bad fit for the system somehow, I’m inclined to put it on him. Reid’s just too good at using his players in the best way possible as individuals. If Pringle doesn’t have any traits that Andy needs…

That said, I’ve been wondering why he hasn’t gotten more reps, myself. It seems like every time I see him touch the ball he’s doing something electric, so what gives?

I am truly curious how many coaches own his tree like Reid does. He is now 13-6 against his former assistants after yesterdays win.

I question your stat though

I would think with a eighth of the NFL considered Reid’s tree

If someone from John Harbaugh’s tree

that would be Reid too

I am more referring to coaches that were under him directly. Crazy enough everyone thinks about Toub and how he was with Lovie Smith but he started his coaching career in the NFL under Reid as Assistant Special Teams Coordinator. There is a reason why Harbaugh might be the only coach that can clown Toub.

Harbaugh is probably the one that gave him some of those losses

I heard on the radio

that Reid fired/replaced the HC of the Bills

cause he knew that philly was going south in the year before he got fired there and wanted him to escape the blame

When was Reid the GM of the Bills?

He replaced McDermott after the 2010 season. Things were about to go south in Philly and Reid knew it so he fired McDermott.

Wait, are we talking Andy Reid? I’m confused.

He’s not explaining it very well.

He means McDermott was DC under Reid in Philly in 2010. Reid supposedly knew thing were going to go bad in Philly and didn’t want McDermott to take the blame so he fired him to get him out of there before things went bad.

Seems like a stretch.

it was the history.

whether he fired him for good or as a scapegoat is debatable

It’s not in character with Reid to throw one of his people under the bus to protect himself, IMO. I’ll go with something more akin to Sutton’s firing until I’ve got enough evidence to go elsewhere.

it sure seems like Sutton got a last year

but Spags was already lined up

Harbaugh has beaten Reid once and that was in his first year in Baltimore. McDermott was with Reid in Philly from 2001 to 2010. He was then the DC under Rivera, another Reid assistant, until he became the HC of the Bills.

McDermott replaced the DC who died

Consider how many times he might face some of these guys. A lot are now in the NFC so they play every 4 years. Outside of Harbaugh, the only former assistant he could face every year is McDermott barring EB coaching an AFC team. Next year he is going to face Pederson and Rivera again.

Matter of fact, the last assistant he lost to was Todd Bowles.

He taught them everything they know, but that doesn’t mean he taught them everything that HE knows.
