I can’t deny the allegation, but in this case, it’s actually an old expression of mine that probably has its roots in the Mad Scientists’ Club books. But you’re right, I do have a taste for visual language. Why not? Flat, terse language may deliver the info, but how enjoyable is it to read? I have a massive vocabulary, so I might as well make use of it. 😉

On a somewhat related note, if you ever get the chance, read Groucho and Me, by Groucho himself. Just him, no ghostwriter, so it’s interwoven with fact and (presumably, by exaggeration and such) fiction. Heinlein had a character opine in one book that the lies that a person tells about themselves are about as revealing as the truthful things they relate.

They should, too, at least as a fan-type perspective. If we lose, they get some schadenfreude (Good god, I spelled that correctly on the first go!), but if we crush the Bills, then at least they can feel that they’re about at the Bills’ level. I mean, it’s one thing to get your ass kicked by someone else, but then you see them take down someone generally considered to be tougher than you? That’s at least a little comforting.

Back in Week 5, we were slogging through malfunctions, but now we’re humming, especially after the last game.
And don’t get me wrong, I still like Morse as a C – but this time, he’s going to get Jonesed. CJ95 knows him well, all Morse’s experience can do is help his coach figure out how to give him help. Optimistic enough for you, or should I mention that with PIT, Ingram wreaked havoc on their OL?
LOL… now see, this is where we have to agree to disagree … I give KC a 75% chance of winning, I think and hope Chiefs come out on top, no guarantees etc etc ad nauseum, but … I don’t buy the “this or that team is peaking” thing, both teams are arguably better that way back when, but each game is a “discrete event” in and unto itself … learning from experience etc also goes for both teams and I’ll contend that biorhythms of each player are as important as anything on any given day (if you’re ON you can be the GOAT for a day, if you’re OFF … and so it goes)
I don’t disagree with any of that, in their contexts, but I see trends, and know that success builds confidence, and confidence brings success, as things start to fall into place. There’s no denying that our team has improved over the course of the season, and once they got into the groove against PIT, it was over.
Doesn’t mean we can’t lose, they’re a much better team than PIT, and I’m not committed to a blowout. But I’m more like 80% confident that we’ll win, even if it’s a squeaker. Or, to reapply your final comment, once you’ve been ON in a really big way, you’re more motivated and able to regain that zone. There are other factors in play, of course, such as determination and refusal to accept defeat. We might suffer a complete reversal, but for now, I see our performance trending up.

Shit happens with young people. It’s not a good thing but it’s not the worst either. I’m glad every time I broke something in anger, it wasn’t all over the news.
I remember my mum snapping one day and smashing a wooden cutting board on the floor because my siblings and I were being little shits. Only time anything like that happened, but these things do happen sometimes. No one was hurt. Imagine how stupid it would be if that was on the news.
Back then, she could have concussed you all with the wooden cutting board and everyone would have said that you all deserved everything you got.

No, metal. I was lucky, at least by comparison. I got a 1×4, with hearing aid on one end, memory aid on the other. Neither side taught me a damn thing about how to do better, but the upside was that with our kids, I made sure that along with any punishment, there would be guidance as to how to do better.
I’m a head case, but I was a better parent than both of them put together, and because I used them as a negative example as how to do things. I can still get laughs with the story of how I taught our kids to drive after Mrs BRAG specifically forbade me from teaching them. So I went ahead and did it anyway, and none of them even noticed it.
The key word is people. Athletes are people too. They have the same issues we do, outside of money, but probably a lot more problems we’d never identify with because of their status.

Impulse-control issues and decision-making, as well. As I’ve said many times before, those centers of the brain don’t mature until about 25. Gay is 23, so some counseling and mentoring to get him past that, and he should be OK. I haven’t heard a peep about Kareem in quite a while, and I’ll bet he’s over 25 now, or at least very close to it.
I have anger issues, and it’s definitely part of my mental health issues – but I have no history of violence after the age of 25. Precious little before, it’s true, but I had to learn control far too soon, because of it – a lesson harshly and repeatedly reinforced, that started when my age was in the single digits. “Tough love”, as they say, but “tough” was the operative word. Love was not.
A lot of it is also how we were raised and disciplined.
My “discipline” in childhood basically added up to normal punishments for normal things, harsher punishments to make me act like I didn’t have a psychological disability, and a near-complete switch to conditional “love”*.

*Addendum: By near-complete, I mean that the only people left in my life who provided it were my maternal great-uncle and paternal G’ma. My parents switched, 100%.

An artificial entry into the concussion protocol would be taken as an abuse of a major program, and rightly so. There’s nothing safe about fraud.
I could be wrong, but pitching a little fit and breaking a vacuum COULD be considered as something arising from a state of excessive anger, and that said anger COULD be caused my possible (even minor) concussion … shades of Jovan Belcher, I’d just think it best to be on the side of all due caution (esp for a guy with some admitted emotional issues)
You are correct, anger can be an after effect of a concussion, but without anything else pointing to it, I think testing for one would be hard.
However….given his history of self-described mental health issues, I would look very closely at past concussions in high school, college, etc. I am also very sure that someone on the Chiefs staff has thought of that.
Seems he was arrested only because under KS law it falls under DV, which serves a purpose I suppose.
That was my expectation. On any DV call, it almost inevitably ends in the arrest of the male, sometimes when he’s actually the victim.
I believe Tyreek Hill will be mentoring Gay about domestic abuse.
Honestly, he probably couldn’t get a better person to guide him through this. Stay in control, let them take their shots, survive and prosper.
