The Chiefs Trade Up in 5th Round to Select Kentucky Offensive Tackle Darian Kinnard
27 repliesWith four 7th round picks it was fully expected that the Chiefs would trade some of them away, and sure enough they spent one to move up in the 5th round to grab a tackle, presumably to compete at the right tackle position that has some questions around it.
Do You Agree With This Pick?
“Big, physical specimen who rocks in the run game but has a ways to go to become a good pass protector. Length is there but balance and hand work is not. High upside selection. (Chris Trapasso)”
Grade B+
Great value for a really good pick. Still get two more darts to throw at the board.
Good, keep the OL competition and bench strength up, and I’m glad they held off on OT til now.
He’s Brugler’s #3 rated (!) guard. 2nd round grade, rated #52 prospect overall (!!). Has super long arms, which is an Andy must-have for Olinemen.
Versatile as well. Andy loves guys who can play multiple spots.
I assume the arm length is why they might think he can play tackle instead of guard.
He was a Top 5 OL from the combine on. Not sure how he fell this far. Saw a graphic, early on, that had him as the guy with the most nasty among the group.
RT is going to be a fun battle at camp with Wylie and now Kinnard.
Now lets take Justyn Ross with our last 3 7th’s
This is an Andy Reid OL if ever there was one. Andy loves guys who can play multiple spots along the line.
I thought we would have to burn more than one 7th for that move…nice. Veach is plugging up all the holes and some divits.
In most of these later rounds the guys picked will have to be googled.
I’ve had to Google every player (not just by the chiefs) selected so far
BEEEEEEF!!!! That is all.
Or maybe he’ll play guard?
Taking a backup G in the 5th?
NFL.com and ESPN list him as a guard, but you’d think he’d play OT since that’s what he was in college and what we need.
Move Thuney outside and slot him at LG is the only way he starts barring injury.
Brown, Thuney, Humphrey, Smith, Kinnard
What I meant was if he were to play G.
G…T…he will probably play all over. I am entirely pleased with this draft
Maybe better – Thuney, Kinnard, Humphrey, Smith, Brown
Nasty Oline right there.
I bet he plays R_OT…its the only slight divot on the O-Line. Throwing spaghetti has gone from CB and S to R_OT it seems. Veach is a god damn wizard…even shored up any last divot in the secondary with the other 3rd day pick…not even holes….divots at this point.
Lightning in a bottle – starter by game one!!!!!!!!
Brugler has him listed as a guard, but also says teams might see him as a RT.
