Good morning AG!

Today in Chiefs’ history, Larry Johnson was born in 1979. The day after his B-Day on November 20, 2005, against the Houston Texans, he ran for a Chiefs’ record 211 rushing yards (a record JC would break in 2010 against Denver) and two touchdowns.

Elsewhere. Hiram Bingham, most famous for discovering and bringing to the attention of the Western world the ancient Incan site of Machu Picchu, Peru, was born in 1875.

Chiefs to wear white-on-white uniforms against Chargers on Sunday night | Chiefswire

I personally like the combo.

While the jersey combination is a bit of a fan favorite, the white-on-white look has a bit of a tainted past in Kansas City. The Chiefs wore the uniform combination back in Super Bowl I when they lost to the Green Bay Packers. Losing that game prompted a superstitious Hank Stram to ban the white-on-white uniform combination and it stayed that way for over 20 years.

Chiefs Lose Out on Potential Free-Agent Target to Super Bowl Contender | Heavy

It’s unclear if general manager Brett Veach was ever interested in either Suh or Joseph — who were ironically drafted in the same year — but a contingent of fans was and the Chiefs could certainly use some help defending against tough runners.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert, RB Austin Ekeler among key challenges for Chiefs defense in Week 11 | Chiefswire

As for the really good quarterback they’ll face, Spagnuolo says he’s never gone about comparing Justin Herbert and Patrick Mahomes. That’s not a slight against Herbert, who Spagnuolo believes can do anything and everything at the quarterback position.

NFL odds, betting: Are the Chargers the right side against the Chiefs? | yahoo

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is 4-1 ATS against the Chiefs and 2-0 ATS as an underdog this year.

Could Chiefs’ seemingly improved running game open things up for Travis Kelce in L.A.? | KC Star

According to Pro Football Focus, when James and Kelce have been matched in coverage since James debuted in 2018, Kelce’s longest reception is 18 yards.

Chiefs Analyst Backs Benched Starter: ‘Too Soon to Count Him Out’ | Heavy

These responses from Reid are reminiscent of the answers he gave when asked about Ronald Jones II. Either way, we’ll find out whether or not Big Red is just blowing smoke on Sunday Night Football. This is a big game and there’s certainly no room for pleasantries.

Chiefs LT Orlando Brown Jr. named NFLPA Community MVP for Week 11 | Chiefswire

Brown Jr. recently matched a $50,000 donation from the Emilie Rosebud Diabetes Research Foundation reaching a $100,000 funding goal for a TrialNet research project set to take place at Children’s Mercy. Earlier this month, Brown Jr. participated in a TrialNet study to raise awareness about Type 1 Diabetes screening and prevention.

Going back outside to continue blowing and shoveling snow… have a good afternoon wherever you are (Pompano, I believe you’re in Fla so I imagine there’s no snow there).

Time for a little cross-border content!

The Jim Thorpe story was pretty amazing if you haven’t seen or read about it.

IMO, this catch hasn’t received the props it deserves. For a guy that has a little bit of a reputation for dropping passes, this was spectacular (even without a reputation).

Big game tomorrow night. As many have noted, the Chargers play us tough, the Chiefs seem to inspire some of the best in them. I thought that onside kick ploy to open the game by the Jags was brilliant and it provides a cautionary note that there needs to be an alertness and readiness for each and every play.

We may actually owe them a thank-you for alerting us to being on our toes at all times.

Agreed, and Dolts HC Staley has shown, it seems to me, that he is willing to think outside the box.
