Good morning AG!
Today in Chiefs’ history, Gunther Cunningham was named as head coach in 1999, seemed like a good idea at the time.
Francis Bacon, whose works established and popularized inductive methodologies for scientific inquiry, often called the Baconian method, or simply the scientific method, was born 1561.
And now the news (that was more fraught than I expected)

The good news for Mahomes is he still has a lot of time to heal and rest his body for their game next Sunday. Hopefully by that time, he is already fully recovered without any health issue bothering him.

Henne and his key touchdown drive received nothing but positive remarks from KC on Saturday. The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars by a final score of 27-20 in Saturday’s AFC Divisional Round contest, but Patrick Mahomes wasn’t the only quarterback on the team to contribute to the win in a significant way.

For now, here are five observations from immediately after the game:
Jerick McKinnon throws Foyesade Oluokun out of the club with killer blitz block | Yahoo
It’s all in a day’s work for McKinnon, who prides himself on being an every-down back.
Harrison Butker saved a kickoff return TD with his face and helped seal a Chiefs playoff win | Clutchpoints
The Kansas City Chiefs got the most unlikely help from their typically reliable kicker Harrison Butker.
NFL fans had lots of Waffle House jokes after Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars lost to the Chiefs | Clutchpoints
Tonight there is no joy in any of the Waffle Houses in Duval.
Classy kid. The NFL is in good hands.
He has a bright future in the league.
GREAT team win yesterday! I could see everyone stepping up after the injury and it was awesome.
I have a theory for next week:
Before Mahomes was injured, I thought he was holding the ball too long and always seemed to go through his progressions before scrambling. I think he needed to throw the ball much quicker.
In comes Henne and he dinks and dunks his way right down the field 98 yards for a TD. Henne showed how this offense is meant to work.
With Mahomes having a high ankle sprain, I think this is the recipe he needs to follow… get rid of the ball QUICKLY! Dink and dunk that shit and let the other players do their thing. I really don’t want to see Mahomes scrambling a lot in the AFCCG and I don’t want to see him getting hit anymore.
Down a rabbit hole:
The Chiefs have had more QBs win Playoff games than every team except the Packers (5), Giants (6), and ‘Skins (4). Patrick alone bests the other 3 Chiefs.
Patrick is now tied with the great Bart Starr with 9 wins. Win next week, he ties the great Joe (Thank God for the defense) Flacco
Patrick has more wins than 4 franchises, and as many as two more
If he were a team, he would rank #1 in Playoff Winning %
It was pointed out below that Steve Deberg won a WC game for us, so that’s 5, and ties us with the Packers.
Report: Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Diagnosed With High Ankle Sprain
Some good proofreading “Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain following Kansas City’s victory over the Bills in the AFC divisional round, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.”
Getting an early jump on reporting next weeks game
I love being able to sit here on Sunday, enjoying my coffee, knowing we have our ticket punched for next week. Either here or there, we’re going to be in it! Again.
To the winner of Bills/Bengals:
Wait. The Bills/Bengals is a 3pm EST kickoff? I got up for nothing??
*and Nova. Another collaborative effort.
You guys are appreciated!
We are a team around here!
“Patrick Mahomes has more playoff wins than every other past Chiefs QB combined.”
Mahomes has more playoff wins than Dawson, Montana, and Smith combined.
Oh, wait. You said that.
60 years, and we have 4 QBs who’ve won playoff games?
I must follow up on this.
I wondered how badly this compared with other teams (expecting the worst, of course), and the Great Google tells me only the Packers and Giants have more, and they both have way more years.
So, say that differently: In only 60 years, we’ve had four different QBs win playoff games.
Don’t forget DeBerg. He beat the Raiders in the WC round.
Wikipedia forgot him, as well. So that gives us 5
I’m not sure that we can beat Bill’s or bengals with the way we played last night.
Big win last night, but we need to play better
Yep. Line play, in particular. Do like no turnovers
Not a lot of penalties either
“Only” 2 sacks yesterday. 5 in the previous game, and 2nd in the NFL IN SACKS and we only got2.
Need to do better next week
Will Chris Jones get a playoff sack?
At least we know Frank Clark puts the hammer down when it comes to playoff games
Ever? Missed one yesterday
Good refs help
Had a conversation with my Bengals fan buddy last night, he’s under the impression that Joe burrow is just as good as mahomes, if not better. People are delusional man
That Would Explain RaiDuh, Donkey & DisCharger Fans … ; )
Fuck you, bitch
Haters going to hate. I lol at these
Umm: my read is it was a mistaken slip of the tongue. During the dress rehearsal for a play in high school one of my lines had in it the word “city” and I was looking straight at our VP in the audience as I spat out “shitty”.
There you go again, being all empathetic. Just like a Canuck. 😉😂
Ah geez, nothing to do with nationality – everything to do with humanity. But, ya know: to thine own self be true. 🙂
“There you go again, being all empathetic. Just like a
There ya go, now you’re getting it.
Had friend slip up the exact thing, TBF at the time we were pretty shitty.
It’s easy to do. I’ve had rotator cuff repairs to both shoulders – try repeating shoulder surgery five times.
Had one. Worst recovery of all my surgeries.
Had both done arthroscopically, supraspinatus, subscapularis and biceps tendons all worked on in both cases. Rehab went very well and they’ve held up for over ten years, only just recently the left shoulder is complaining.
My Mrs asked me why I don’t get them both done at the same time. I looked at her and pointed to our bathroom.
Same time?? I couldn’t FEED myself for a week with just the right (dominant) one
Maybe he has a lisp?
Troubling part JAGS were 26th in nfl @ getting sacks….and Chiefs LT couldn’t hold up!!
*Cinn 29th in total sacks
So, the sacks STORM is coming. Chiefs LT better man the fuck up for 2 More games!!! That was his guy that rolled up on 15.
Orlando can run block! Maybe run the ball to his & joe tuney side with #10…in championship game!!! #10 was the hot hand in divisional game.
Either way I’ll be in Kc or ATL wearing my LEN DAWSON jersey & under len jersey…wearing my DERRICK THOMAS pro bowl jersey.
HOME OF THE CHIEFS!!
15 young = quick recovery
1st class medical treatment
Worse case THE Shot
15 a beast!!!
I’m not worried at all.
forget Waffle House … Chiefs have The King of Pancakes
Saw that brief shot of Will Shields banging the drum. Trey is following in great footsteps.
In his HOF jacket no less!!
One episode of The Franchise went to breakfast with the O line. Holy Cow, those men can eat
well done, Pompano … glad you were able to find “a few” things for today’s MH
so … Bills or Bengals? Bengals or Bills? either way it’s gonna be a tough game next weekend, whoever and wherever they play
the cream rises to the top
KC, BUF, CIN – 3 best teams in the AFC
PHIL, SF, DAL – 3 best teams in the NFC
during the 4th quarter i started rubbing my Morgan silver dollar (see avatar at left) and hoping for a good outcome, which we got.
have the feeling i’m going to be rubbing the crap out of it from now on.
And I removed my new (Christmas gift) Chiefs toque during halftime as my noggin was too warm. Replaced it with my weathered Chiefs cap but I was clutching that toque in my hands all the way through the second half. I may have found a new ritual.
My new Kelce 87 jersey is 3-0 since Christmas!
My new Mahomes cup is now 2-0.
My new TV might have one loss in it, but it got it out of the way early, so it’s on an undefeated run now
Andy did the right thing – protecting Mahomes comes first. Awesome respect for Mahomes for being Ronnie Lott tough and not wanting to leave the game.
I met Ronnie on a southwest flight from San Francisco to LA
Great humble guy. Dude cut his finger off to continue playing in a game.
Winning playoff games never gets old. Such a long drought after the Montana Era which I was too young to really appreciate or really remember clearly. I really try and appreciate the fact that we are going into our 5th straight afc championship game. It’s amazing.
I was young during the Dawson years so I never really appreciated the legends as much as I should. Love Marty for resurrecting the Chiefs – making the playoffs back then was celebrated like winning playoff games are now. Andy and Mahomes have moved us to our highest level.
Derek Carr – Hurts his finger and cries on the field
Patrick Mahomes – Throws TD passes without an ankle or a kneecap
Who is the toughest SOB playing quarterback?
Lamar Jackson Was Trending After Patrick Mahomes Injury
“The 98” surely now stands as an iconic event alongside “13 seconds” in Chiefs Kingdom lore.
Get healthy, Mr. Mahomes, you are unparalleled.
My oatmeal and berries are tasting extra good this morning.
I’m with The Shark: don’t care who the Chiefs play next. Bring it on.
was just thinking similar …
13 seconds and now 98 yards
Yes, I like “98 yards” better.
