Morning, AG
Today in Chiefs history, not a thing seems to have happened. However, those guys across the parking lot were busy.
1973- Paul Splitorff becomes Kansas City Royals FIRST 20 game winner by beating the White Sox 6-2 at Comisky Park.
1978- The KC Royals clinch their third straight AL West Title as Larry Gura pitches a complete game 3 hitter, Amos Otis has 2 RBI’s to help beat the Seattle Mariners 4-1 at Royals Stadium, it is the shortest game in Royals Stadium history at 1 hour and 42 minutes.
1979- Frank White of the Royals hits for the cycle in California, to help KC win 4-0.
1985- Steve Balboni becomes the KC Royals single-season leader in home runs when he hit his 35th today. He finished the season with 36 homers, a club record.
2009- Billy Butler of the Royals became the eighth player in MLB history to hit 50 doubles in a season before turning 24 yrs old.
2014- The Kansas City Royals behind pitching from Jeremy Guthrie beat the White Sox in Chicago 3-1 to clinch a spot in the playoffs for the first time in 29 years.
Alright then, let’s get this over with
Insider: How the Colts pulled off the shocking upset of the Chiefs | Indystar.com
Frustrated and under siege after an ugly start in a tie against the Texans and a loss to the Jaguars, Indianapolis came roaring back with a 20-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs to get in the win column, a game sealed by Rodney McLeod’s interception off of a Stephon Gilmore deflection.

It’s not uncommon for players and coaches to argue on the field when things go wrong. But you don’t often see Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy going at it in such a fashion.

Throughout the week, many expected the Kansas City Chiefs to come out firing against the Indianapolis Colts and jump out to an early lead. In dramatic fashion, however, things got off to a rocky start and didn’t recover all the way.

The Chiefs deserved that fate, even if looked they might escape it for the better part of 55 minutes Sunday.
Instant analysis of Chiefs’ Week 3 loss to Colts | Chiefswire
They started the game off on the wrong foot with some negative momentum in the special teams game. It seemed to bleed over into the rest of the game slowly throughout a full four quarters. In the end, the Indianapolis Colts played the better game and really earned their first win of the season.
Patrick Mahomes says Chiefs’ offensive miscues were main culprit in Week 3 loss to Colts | Chiefswire
When asked about the loss after the game on Sunday, Patrick Mahomes shouldered a lot of the blame himself. He felt like he left a lot of opportunities on the field and that the offense didn’t execute well as a whole.
Kansas City Chiefs fans furious about unsportsmanlike conduct call on Chris Jones | KCStar

Fans were baffled by the call, wanted to know what Jones said and were angry with Jones. Here is a sample of what they were saying (with words we can use).
KC Chiefs report card: Special teams, Chris Jones’ mouth costly in loss at Indy Colts | KCStar via Yahoo

For all but the final five minutes it looked as if the Chiefs’ defense would help the visitors pull out a victory. The Kansas City players on that side of the ball would have carried the Chiefs on a day when the offense sputtered and special teams was a disaster. Then Chris Jones couldn’t keep his mouth shut.

ok, who’s excited about this announcement?
The National Football League said on Monday it has decided to replace its annual Pro Bowl exhibition match between All-Stars with a week-long skills competition and a flag football game starting next year in Las Vegas.
The new event is being called “The Pro Bowl Games” and will replace the traditional tackle football game with competitions between the AFC and NFC culminating in a February 5 game of flag football at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders.
yeah, me either …
Great. Now we can have things like Beach Volleyball and no one gets hurt.
Oh, wait….
”Whenever you’re playing a tough game like this one, you have to execute at a high level,” Mahomes said. ”Our schedule gets no easier, so we have to get better quickly. If we don’t, the Ls are going to start piling up.”
32 yds/19 carries, 1.7 yds per rush attempt, not including Mahomes, is God awful embarrassing and they had extra days to come up with this effort. They are either an underachieving line, the RBs are that bad, or both. It may not be correctable. Defense will have to win the next few games cause that Offense or STs sure won’t.
Amazingly, Reid, the Master of the Post Bye VIctory, is sub .50 now off of 10 day breaks. I have no idea how to even try to explain that, but there it is
I have come to expect superhuman feats from the Chiefs on a regular basis, it is unfair of me to rail against shortcomings in their performance. I watched only the final 13 minutes of yesterday’s game, I witnessed the Chiefs muffing a sure TD catch, missing a field goal, failing to close out the game thanks to an unsportsmanlike penalty, and throwing an interception in their last gasp effort. Well, it is to laugh. A championship team shouldn’t appear so bumbling however a championship journey is never a straight line. Go Chiefs
We were playing a team that had literally nothing to lose; they were playing for pride, out of desperation. And desperation can be a powerful ally.
Also today is Rosh Hashanah; for any Jewish AG users, have a blessed Rosh Hashanah!
Its also my birthday.
I don’t know why everyone is so mad at Chris Jones, he sure as hell didn’t lose that game all by himself. It was a Special Teams and Offense failure mostly.
Hoppy Burfday!
and yeah, outside of the defense (which looked good) the rest of the team seems to have missed the flight to Indy
I’m missing McDuffie. When can he return?
I think he was 6 weeks
Happy birthday, Starry. Will make a note for next year’s huddle
If, ya know, I haven’t been fired
Many happy returns!
Happy Birthday!

“Nick Bolton, linebacker, Kansas City. Rare to honor a player when his team loses, but Bolton was fantastic Sunday in the 20-17 loss at Indy. Nine tackles and two sacks of Matt Ryan. His best play wasn’t a sack, but rather a stoning of the NFL rushing champion. Eleven minutes left, KC up 17-13 at the winless Colts, fourth-and-one Indy at the Kansas City 32-. What play do the Colts call? Of course: give it to Jonathan Taylor, who tried to leap over the defensive front for the first down. Here came Bolton, who grabbed Taylor with both hands, lifted him up and stopped him a foot short of the line to gain. Five minutes after his stoning of Taylor, Bolton sacked Ryan for a loss of eight.”

Nick Bolton is going to be good for a long time. So glad we picked him up.
Harris had a good game, as did Sneed
THe entire D played well, minus one verbose play. They gave up a 4 yard TD drive and one after they had stopped the Colts.
I was pleased the the D. People said this was a team loss. I am less willing to hang this on the Defensive side of the ball.
I would like to know what Jones said. Can we get an official list of words that the NFL will flag? If not then why? Eric should have been hired off two seasons ago.
I stand corrected. Something DID happen in Chiefs history today. Five years ago, we signed Butker.

Hoping for a speedy recovery and return to form for him.
What a weird weekend for football.
Patrick Mahomes was our leading rusher yesterday with 26 yards. Let that sink in for a minute.
26 more than CEH
That’s not a good look for the o line either. one, that they couldn’t open a hole for the RB, and two, that Mahomes had to scramble …
on the other hand, I have to say that the Colts o line didn’t look too impressive considering they are the highest paid line in the NFL.
VOTW: At least we didn’t pay THAT much for our O Line
True. Brown isn’t getting close to the money he was wanting. In fact, he probably won’t even get what he was offered this past year if he doesn’t start playing better.
He might, but not here
SUNK IN WITH ME SINCE. …..K HUNT DEPARTED
CEH & HARDMAN ARE BOTH
GARBAGE ?..
@ least ceh cam catch….can’t blitz pickup or run with power.
IT IS
WHAT IT IS
What does CEH do that McKinnon can’t?
Hunt, on a run first team:
36 att/151yds/4.2avg/1TD/9rec
CEH, on a pass first team:
22att/116yds/5.3avg/1TD/12rec(2TD)
Shut up already.
boom!
After the play was over… Illegal procedure, NoVAChiefs, posting things contrary to the prevailing narrative. Five-yard penalty, repeat third down.
(Though as mentioned previously, I don’t disagree.)
Harder to get yardage on a run first team. They’re expecting it.
Over 40% of that yardage did come on one play. Just saying
Oh, stop it. That’s nonsense. You build your entire offense to do something, and it’s more difficult? So we should not pass, because they expect it?
I never said you shouldn’t pass. But yes it is harder to pass for the chiefs. You see how many guys they drop back just daring us to run with the 3 stooges
Yep. And we consistently pass for more than 85% of the teams each week. Because we are built for it. Run first teams do the same thing, but on the ground.
And you are correct, a large chunk of CEH’s yardage came on one carry. WHICH MEANS…that his long for the season is more than 200% what Hunt’s is.
It’s ok to think CEH could be better, but this pining for a guy who’s not doing diddly and lied to a future HOF coach is crazy.
My problem with CEH at this point is that from what I can tell all 3 of our rbs are the same guy. I do like that we actually throw to him now.
Yeah, the ones we suit up are really close in skills. Why did we keep Jones if we aren’t going to suit him up? He could be useful if only for line dives.
Well my coffee tastes like ass this morning. I guess on the up side there were no concussions.
Did we check orlando? He looked pretty wobbly.
We did. He checked as his normal self. Flash backs of McSpin come to mind.
LOL. Pretty much. Pretty soon he’ll flig crap at someone and get us yet another 15 yarder.
“fling” (the mistakes continue into Monday…)
Oh lord, I had forgotten the McSpin chronicles. Let’s not bring up that fiasco again, mmkay?
Wish the 49ers would have pulled that one off last night. I thought it was weird that the 49ers were only 1.5 favorites. Turns out the 49ers for all the offseason hype of a great roster are just something most of the residents of San Francisco leave on the sidewalk every morning. (a lump of shit. If you don’t get my analogy San Francisco is a bum ridden trash pit from my experience which is too bad because it seems like it could be a cool town)
I bring this up for 2 reasons.
First off if the Broncos beat the raiders next they will be in 1st place in the division, which sucks.
Secondly because I’d much rather be the chiefs than either of those dumpster fire teams last night. We definitely have some things to fix after our game but I didn’t see anything that wasn’t probably fixable. How shitty do you feel about your team this morning if you are the broncos. That team looks lost offensively. Their oline is shit and they’ve scored 3 TDs in 3 games. And the 49ers oh boy. I thought they were overrated because their best rb is a wr. Boy was I right. The donkeys just gave the blueprint for everybody to beat that team. 5 down lineman and make Garropolo beat you to broken down kittle or gadget player aiyuk.
How the donkeys have lucked into their wins is mind boggling. I’m sure donkey fans will talk mad shit if they end up being the Raiders, but anyone with a pair of eyes knows that team is the very definition of dysfunctional
We’ll that was a giant kick in the nuts…..
all is well..
I thought Chiefs would go 13-4 (due to a potential injury and/or rookie mistakes).
Now Chiefs will be 100% FOCUSED for Bucs
And Skyy Moore, Chris Jones have LEARNED
As for the DRAMA between EB & Patrick – that shit been going on since the CINN afc championship game……maybe longer. But, those were the offseason reports.
The DRAMA will either make EB/Patrick grow together or separate em.
DRAMA story – too be continued
After some thought, I think when you play as shitty as the Chiefs did, its better for the season to lose than to end up with an ugly win. That makes it much harder to ignore and acts as a wake up call to straighten things out rather than just saying we looked bad, but got the win…
True
I’m not too worried about the EB/Patrick shit yet. I think people are reading too much into it. They are both passionate people that don’t always agree. That’s not a guarantee for problems. They both could be professional and chalk the before halftime fiasco up to the heat of the moment when things weren’t going the way either wanted. Time will tell if there’s more too the story, but as of right now, I think people are reading too much into it.
True true
I thing you’re reading too much (drama) into a nothingburger … to me it was asinine that Mahomes would even CONSIDER any kind of “hail mary bullshit bomb” at that point, just get your azz into the locker room and be glad you aren’t behind by 30 pts
this is what Jones said:
Ohh shit. He’s lucky he still has a job after that
Bienemy is the enemy.
not even close to close
You and I don’t agree on a few things but this I do agree with you on. I haven’t been impressed with our offense since he’s been the OC. I know he’s a passionate guy but we’ve had a few episodes between him and Mahomes, and we aren’t getting rid of Mahomes. Smoke = fire in this case.
No
I forgot about Chiefs loss, 10 seconds after it happened.
Now, I completely forgot about it — DDD forgot hahahaaa
