The Kansas City Chiefs were closer to executing a trade to acquire DeAndre Hopkins from the Arizona Cardinals than anyone ever realized. What exactly prevented the two sides from getting a deal done? Well, it was a deal for another receiver that the Chiefs had often been linked to.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Kansas City and Buffalo were the only two teams to have “substantive” talks with Arizona. The biggest issue preventing a trade from happening in either situation was Hopkins’ contract, which is the challenge that was expected.

It is well-documented that there is immense talent within the AFC West, yet last season, several teams from the division underperformed and failed to meet lofty expectations.
The only team that had great success was the Kansas City Chiefs. The Los Angeles Chargers made the playoffs but surrendering a 27-0 lead makes a playoff appearance almost regrettable. Then there are the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders, who both thought they could challenge for the division, but both failed to even make the playoffs as a wildcard team.

No, #Chiefs RT Jawaan Taylor was not "benched" after penalties per Andy Reid: "Well, I subbed out some guys. He also got hit in the mouth and got a cut in there that wasn’t feeling too good. He’ll be fine though."
Taylor re-entered the game for a bit after PTW/Donovan Smith left…
For the record, here is where Jawaan Taylor was lined up when he was flagged for his second penalty that wiped out the TD.
Taylor has to adapt to the refs, but this spotlight he has on him now is complete BS. Dude was doing the exact same thing last year in Jacksonville and nobody cared one bit.
#Chiefs CB Trent McDuffie says that missing half the season last year gave him a big chip on his shoulder coming into this year. He's focused on doing his job and proving he can make an impact.
