Good morning AG!

Today in Chiefs history:  Bobby Bell was born in 1940, and Eric Hicks in ’76
Today in Other history:
1994 O.J. Simpson doesn’t turn himself in on murder charges, LA police chase his Ford Bronco for 1½ hours before he eventually gives up (seemed like a nice enough guy, at least til THIS happened)
1943 both Barry Manilow and Newt Gingrish were born (Manilow seems like a nice enough guy)
1631 Mumtaz Mahal dies during childbirth. Her husband, Mughal emperor Shah Jahan I, then spends more than 20 years building her tomb, the Taj Mahal (Jahan must have been a nice enough guy)
1462 Vlad III the Impaler (Dracula) attempts to assassinate Mehmed II (The Night Attack), its failure forces him to retreat from Wallachia (Vlad seems like a nice enough guy)
1272 Edward I, King of England (d. 1307) who subdued Wales, warred against Scotland and expelled Jews from England, was born in London (seems like a nice enough guy)

And now, what little bits of news we can find …

Chiefs DL Isaiah Buggs arrested for domestic violence/burglary in Tuscaloosa | NFL

Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs was arrested on a domestic violence/burglary charge and booked into Tuscaloosa County (Ala.) Jail on Sunday, per the jail’s records.

Buggs, 27, was held on $5,000 bond. It’s unclear if he has been released from custody.

Buggs’ arrest comes less than three weeks after he turned himself in to the same jail on misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. He was later released on $600 bond for two counts of cruelty to dogs in the second degree. Buggs’ agent issued a statement at the time saying that the player “vehemently denies” the allegations and that the dogs didn’t belong to him.

Kansas City Chiefs Owner Shouts Out Taylor Swift at Event in Ohio: ‘She Is Definitely Part of the Chiefs Kingdom’ | People

Taylor Swift has officially been inducted into the Chiefs Kingdom!

While speaking at an event for Athletes in Action in Ohio on Saturday, June 15, the owner and CEO of the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, Clark Hunt, was thrown a question about the Grammy-winning singer — and he had a lot to say.

Chiefs, Ravens Named Favorites for Best Remaining Cornerback

Here are some potential landing spots for best-remaining cornerback and former Dallas Cowboy, Stephon Gilmore. The former Defensive Player of the Year is still on the market as he’s still open to a reunion with the Patriots. Gilmore’s availability remains an interesting topic for many teams that still need a solid defensive back. Earlier this offseason, there were rumors that he could imminently sign with the Panthers but there was no deal in place.

Patrick Mahomes reveals the big change Andy Reid wants to make on the Chiefs in 2024 | Marca

The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII and became two-time defending NFL champions, but the 2023 regular season fell below an acceptable standard for quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid.

The Chiefs’ offense, normally so explosive, ranked only ninth in yards, while Mahomes threw a career-worst 14 interceptions during the regular season before clicking into gear for the playoffs in January. In order for Kansas City to return to its dominant best in 2024, Reid and his coaching staff are asking Mahomes to operate a little bit differently.

Patrick Mahomes on Chiefs offense: ‘We didn’t play our best last year’ | Chiefs Wire via Yahoo Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are striving to be the first team in NFL history to win back-to-back-to-back Super Bowls.

That sustained the success that the Chiefs have established is developed and mastered during the offseason programs.

Death threats for what? What has he done to warrant that?

One of the best strips of my lifetime.
Far Side
Pearls Before Swine
Frazz (which appears to be a grown up Calvin)
These are not in order. Not sure I could rank them and stick to it

Decided recency bias. I’m sure some Cowboys fan somewhere think “Hi and Lois” or “Dennis the Menace” belongs on this list, but they are, as usual, wrong.

Far Side is my favorite, but this Calvin and Hobbes I posted is my favorite single comic. It’s the last one. I have it printed out and stuck on my wall.

“Pearls” is great. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a syndicated cartoonist, and exchanged semi-frequent emails with the author, Stephan Pastis. He never answered my last one nor offered to look at my work to give me tips, so that dream sailed away.

Bloom County, anyone? I still have my Billy and the Boingers album somewhere…

I loved that one. I remember the one where it said “meet Steve Dallas, Bloom Counties only lawyer. Things seem a little slow. He looks forward and says – what this county needs is two lawyers.. yeh – that’s the ticket.”

I haven’t read that one as much (having come to comic strips a bit later in life than most), but somewhere in my house there is a collection of Bloom County strips. I need to find that…

An oversight.
Yes, Bloom, especially early stuff, is super. Didn’t care for the “Opus” and “Outland” stages, but Bloom was great
