As cheap as I’m guessing the Chiefs are getting his services, the simple act of spelling CEH as he adjusts to a full NFL schedule makes this a reasonable signing to me.

dumb stupid ridiculous wasteful unnecessary and a whole lot more adjectives along those lines …

With the COVID protocols he won’t be available for the Bills game (technically he could be but would have zero practice time) but should be there for the Broncos.

Solid signing with great potential. Bell will have plenty of reason to look like his old self again.

Is there a team willing to give up a quality G, and do we have something acceptable we’re willing to trade? Picks are extremely valuable to us with current cap obligations. Rankin won’t be ready for good while.

Might be able to pick someone up for a late rounder in a couple weeks. We’ve got several teams about to start a rebuild. The problem is, we got no cap space to absorb a contract for a decent G.

Even if Bell just takes those pass only downs for this year while CEH develops I’m all about it!

The jets probably arent going to win a single game this year. Theyve got 2 games against the dolphins where theyve got a chance. Maybe the chargers. Point is Leveon not wanting to play for the Jets doesnt make him a diva.

And in retrospect, his holdout ploy may have been foresight, not being a diva. Have there been any RB deals even close to his since he got it? Analytics dudes been sayin’ for a few years now that RBs are overpaid for the value they deliver, after all.

Bell got a lot of flack from all over the place during his holdout and now he seems like a genius. He got paid what he wanted by a team that sucks and has landed on an excellent team without having to take a pay cut. The claims that he is a diva is from people confusing what happened with him and what happened with Antonio Brown. All Bell wanted was to be paid. He got what he wanted.

If this is a vet minimum contract there’s very little downside. There have been several players who have left the Jets and suddenly had a resurgence. There is enough leadership in this locker room that if he tries to be a diva it won’t fly. If he doesn’t produce there’s not much lost.

Look at how well Robby Anderson is performing with Carolina. Gase has managed to deflect blame by claiming a lack of talent on the team, but he clearly just doesn’t know how to use the talent that he has. I just don’t understand how a guy like that can keep getting second chances.

Does anybody remember how he played at Michigan State? He didn’t have that weird stop-start style back then, he was a big power runner.

Anyway, point being that he doesn’t necessarily have to run exactly like he did in Pitt. He’s changed his style before.

I didn’t know that. That is excellent news. Watching CEH this year I have been looking through the draft for next year for Christian Okoye 2.0. We need a guy who can punch it through on goal line and for a yard or two on third down. CEH has been limited in those instances and when he didn’t have a hole. So, ‘Bell End’ or one of the ‘killer b’s’……yes please. I still remember the Stealers coming to town in 16 or 17 and Bell End absolutely SHREDDING us. ….so….in conclusion…yes please.

I still miss Kareem Hunt. I know CEH is really good but Hunt blended so well with Mahomes and the offense. To me Hunt always passed the eye test with high marks. And now we got Lev Bell. I’m cautiously optimistic…more caustious than optimistic. What with how the Shady McCoy deal played out, and maybe especially how the Carlos Hyde experiment failed. Hyde got shipped off to Houston and turned in a 1,000 yd performance, when he couldn’t pound sand in KC, much less the defense.

Hunt was my favorite player on the team when we cut him. I’ve moved on though. His separation from the Chiefs was caused by his own actions. As for Hyde, it was actually pretty clever to trade a 1 year RB for an olineman with years of team control. Pretty crafty by Veach. We’ll see how Rankin turns out.

All true. Veach has made some very nice moves. But the Hyde of KC vs the Hyde of Houston has me concerned. The O-line isn’t doing Mahomes any favors, and Mahomes trying to adapt in some ways makes it worse for the O-line, although time is the issue as secondaries are doing a better job of contain on the WRs

Bad news
I think Bell is overrated. His running style is heavily predicated on blocking and we don’t have road graters up front. He is a progress stopper for CEH and to a lesser extent Thompson.

Good news
He is a good pass blocker. He has a 32 blocking grade per PFF. Hardly Walter payton material. However, he has been one of the best blockers at his position before he joined the Jets. And he should be motivated. Gase didn’t want him to begin with and has made it public. Gase is a horrendous coach and rubs people the wrong way. So we should get his best

pass catching
Here is a ditty I found intersting

  • Clyde Edwards-Helaire has caught 63% of passes thrown his way in 2020 for 169 yards.
  • Darrel Williams has caught 54.5% of his targets this season for 35 yards.

Compare it all against during the regular season last year with Damien Williams and Shady McCoy.

  • Damien Williams caught 81% of his passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns.
  • LeSean McCoy 82.3% of his passes for 181 yards and a touchdown.

You can see the disparity there. As for Bell, he has caught 80% of passes thrown his way during his career, with nearly 400 catches and over 3,500 career receiving yards and eight touchdowns

I can see the allure. Darrel Willaims is the grizzled veteran of this group with 2 years of accrued service and 64 career carries. Damian Williams opting out created a leadership void in this unit. he could fill that

Yeesh…It isn’t like they are dropping balls left and right, so what is causing such a low completion percentage? The obvious answer is Patrick isn’t giving them good balls, more than likely because he is getting bad protection. It’s possible they aren’t getting as open of course, but it isn’t like Pat is looking for Darrel 20yds down field on the regular.

Being two deep at RB seems like a necessity in today’s NFL. A key injury could screw the position group big time. It’ll be nice having a competent #2 on the squad. His struggles with the Jets can be taken with a grain of salt. They are the Jets after all.

I know some people say that the Chiefs O-Line doesn’t match the play of Bell, and while that may be true, I think he’d still be able to do more with our O-Line than with the Jets

He was bad with the Jets. I know it’s the Jets, but he was bad. It’d be nice to find out the RB is as much a problem with our running game as the Oline, but I’m not buying it. This line just can’t run block. Still, I’ve got no issue kicking the tires. Clyde is a rook, so he’ll roll with it, and who cares how the other backs feel about being pushed down the depth chart.

I think it’s good just to have a more effective fill in when we give Clyde a break during the game. Several more games and touches for a rook switching from college season to pro season

Assuming he is motivated anyway. I imagine he’ll be initially motivated by the opportunity, but he’ll still be learning protections. If he isn’t getting enough action and/or not doing much with opportunity due to bad run blocking, will he still be motivated by the time he learns the protections in and out?

No doubt, I’m just worried that he’ll get discouraged by shitty run blocking. His “dramaqueeness” is overblown because of his attachment to Brown, but I think it’s still fair to say he’s got some of it.

The Mccoy signing was not a major bust. Fumbling aside, he was our most consistent RB. As for Bell, there is literally no downside. Outside of CEH, the RB room is barren. Why not kick the tires on an established vet?

yeah because Damien averaged 4.5 ypc as well just like Shady benched for the entirety of the playoffs despite being Reids boy Fumblitis. McCoy was not a good signing, actively cost us games, and in the end was meh at best which is what Bell will be in my opinion

You can’t use ypc as a metric for consistent rushing. Damien Williams had the ability to bust out long rushes occasionally, but was mostly just stuffed at the line. His ypc was inflated by long outlier rushes. Also, Mccoy and Bell are not remotely similar, so I don’t know why you are comparing them.

Only commonalities I see are that they are RBs and Slack thinks they’re both bad signings.

I’m thrilled with this move. I love CEH, and I’m glad to have Darrell Williams. But the fact is, if CEH gets injured, we’d be in trouble. I wouldn’t trust Williams to carry a full workload. And I’m not sure Thompson is ready to assume that mantle either. Adding Bell gives us tremendous depth, not to mention that he’s a great pass catching and pass protecting RB. I see no downside to this.
