Into The Afternight: Our 3rd Shift O/T
11 repliesIf you’re still up and want to talk Chiefs, or just hang with fellow citizens of the Kingdom, this is the place.
Been a while, might as well catch up on the musical side of things. Also, model year of that Bonneville?
There, that should bring me up to date. Meanwhile, I need to keep pursuing the downtime. I’m starting to notice improvements that have been away for a long time, so I must be on the right track.
With that, time’s yours.
Guilty. Love KC BBQ, never heard of this guy before. Henry Perry, Barbeque King

For all I’ve been miscast as a loyal member of the extreme Left over the course of the last year, I not only like guns, I like the 2nd Amendment as much as I like the rest of them. Guns, like knives, hammers, and cars are tools. The Left loves to say things like ‘guns are designed and intended to kill’, but what they really mean is that guns are intended to murder other human beings. I propose to demonstrate that by way of illustration, in the following series of comments.

Distractions, my life is constructed of them. Anyway, let’s say the “reasonable gun laws” (yeah, I know, but that’s a different discussion, so play along) faction got their way and every Minnesotan was completely stripped of functional firearms. So what happens? First off, the deer population explodes, since even with extended seasons there are too many hunters up here who can with a long arm but can’t with a bow, so bye-bye to herd management.
With the massive growth in deer comes their impact on native vegetation, as they breed to stress their food supply point. Along with this comes an increase of vehicle accidents and their accompanying human casualties. Then there’s the population of predators, including coyotes, wolves, bears, and eventually pantherine cats, whether you call them mountain lions or whatever. They’re thin on the ground, but they are up this way. As things stand, wolves are heard around farms and such, and bears occasionally will wander into town to forage. Expect more of that in this case, not less.
And that’s just the beginning of the consequences of ensuring that American citizens being stripped of the right to own tools “designed to kill humans, damn it!” would be. And that’s just this state, so multiply this across all the northern border states. And why do I say that the “reasonable restrictions” crowd is ultimately supporting total gun confiscation? Because that’s what it would take to achieve whatever the goal they are presenting would take. Their incremental approach to get to that goal is self-sustaining, since a constant need to increase restrictions furthers the total-confiscation end. It won’t stop until then.
Quite possible that there is only 1 song with the word Congolese in it?
Good point, but then I have an unnatural fondness for Jesse’s Girl because it not only rhymes “moot” it uses it correctly in terms of meaning.
Anyone know if that’s a ’64? I’d buy it, the style of auto design got distinctly more angular after ’63. I’d buy ’64, but the angles on this one are pretty pronounced, so I’d guess ’65 is more likely.
“You’ve got another thing comin’ ” always bugged me. I ascribe it to poor transcription.
No idea on the car, I can discern eras but not by year.
Se, here’s where we differ, because I see that one as more a man-on-the-street song, same as Breaking The Law. And while Robert A Heinlein laid a lot of the groundwork for the difference between the author having bad grammar and an author whose characters have bad grammar, you’ll never guess who kicked me the last ways out of that rut. None other than noted Arch-Conservative William F Buckley, Jr., specifically his discussion as to why the new colloquialism, “disrespected” was not in point of fact, bad English.
