Friday OT: Brandy Alexander
47 repliesCocktail Friday
1 1/2 OZ Brandy
1 OZ Creme de Cacao
1 OZ Cream (I used Almond milk)
Put all three ingredients into a shaker
Add ice and shake till cold
Strain into glass
Garish with nutmeg and/or grated chocolate
Tasting notes:
For when you can’t decide between dessert or an after dinner drink
Literally a dessert in a glass
Smells like Nutmeg and Chocolate ( I wonder why)
Sweet but not too rich
Like those brandy filled chocolates but with a better balance.
Cream is much better than almond milk, but for those lactose intolerant it’s still good.
Yummy. Good after a meal or in front of a fire (Reminds me of winter)
Can sneak up on you.
I tried this as a Bourbon Alexander as well. Basically just replacing the brandy with bourbon. The bourbon just overpowers the other ingredients, and makes me just wish I had used it in a different cocktail. Just roll with the brandy for this one.
I was looking at election exit poll data, and I found something weird. Even though the share of the vote that’s white is decreasing, and polls showing the percentage who identify as evangelical shrinking (and white evangelicals in particular are shrinking), the share of the vote that identifies as white evangelical is increasing. They were 23% of the vote in 2004 (the earliest that data exists) and 28% in 2020.
I’ve been trying to think why this is but have come up empty. Maybe white evangelicals in particular are becoming more political? Maybe the political climate for some reason is causing people to identify more as evangelical in exit polls? Maybe it’s just some issue with exit polls in general and it’s a random fluke and a product of random error that just happened to create this pattern? Maybe political Christians are identifying more as evangelical while non-political christians are identifying as less evangelical (i.e. evangelical is becoming a political term)? I have no idea, none of these explanations seem particularly compelling.
But I was looking at it because I was wondering how non-evangelical white voters voted, under the assumption that they were similar to hispanic voters. And indeed they are pretty solidly democratic, although that’s a recent shift and back in 2004 they were pretty 50/50.
Maybe people don’t know what evangelical means but color in that box because it says white.
People are obviously getting dumber.
It would be an awkward poll question. And ill-defined enough to be meaningless imho.
It makes a huge difference. Those who identify as white evangelicals support Trump 76-24, while whites who don’t identify as evangelical voted Biden 53-45. So however they’re interpreting the question is getting to the root of a big part of their political choice.
It begs the question of non-white evangelicals.
w/o a comparison….
but I think we’ve answered our own question.
shan’t go further
It does, I think that when you break it down that much the sample sizes are too small so they don’t report them. But that would be a really interesting number to see.
I’m not sure the statistical reliability of political polling exists in the last 20+ yrs.
Peanut butter

-crunchy
yes (to both, depending on application)
It’s all terribly complicated…
It’s been pretty reliable when Trump isn’t on the ballot. Like it got those Georgia runoffs spot on.
that did skew things, then again which polls?
Done properly they can be highly predictive, there lies the rub.
who else wants to meet Brandi Alexender? 1 ounce(inch) in and some liquor and I get cream? Count me in
This is the 2nd time somebody has posted the song I’ve been listening to in an ot. Are you secretly watching me?
Some really cool new rock from a seasoned veteran guitar slinger
More of a rock guitar pop song, NTTAWWT. 🙂
But it’s good…
same guy
now that’s a rock song..
was also in Thin Lizzy/Black Star Riders
My OTs will be strictly music for now, but my taste runs from Bach to White Zombie.
I’ve already got some ideas but am open to suggestions…
I phrased that poorly and will not correct…

DEE FORD

DL, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
49ers DL Dee Ford has an $11.6 million injury guarantee for 2021. Ford collects it if he’s released with injury before April 1, and it becomes fully guaranteed money if he remains on the roster April 1. In other words, the 49ers need Ford to be fully recovered from the back injury that limited him to one 2020 appearance by April 1. If Ford can pass his physical, he will be a no-brainer cut after two injury-ruined years in the Bay Area. Ford’s healthy release would clear $5.7 million in cap space, a number that jumps to $15.2 million if he’s designated a post-June 1 cut.
I guess his math skills are much better than his lining up onsides skills?
His career
Career (2014-2020) 154 Tackles and 37 Sacks
Back injuries are a bitch, especially for football players forced to carry extra weight that further causes the problems
Glad to be free of that guy.
An excellent fleecing by Veach while his value was high.
Mitko, that bar in the background, is it all done in neon?
Johnny Depp lays down the guitar solo at the end
I thought he played bass?
He might do that too, but I know he plays guitar fairly well.
It fits the song well, which is most important, but it’s not a complex solo.
Think I would prefer the bourbon, neat.
I’ve got an unopened bottle of Woodford that might be calling my name
The time may have arrived. For no particular reason
