I have been listening to AZ radio today and the way they talk about Hopkins makes it sound like this was a big diva. He basically only practices when he wants and is half assed about it. Seems like a me first guy. I don’t think that 15 would put up with a guy who wasn’t all in when it comes to working and trying to get better.

… from a coaching/team standpoint, Hopkins was a disgruntled veteran player who wasn’t practicing and was not being a professional with publicly airing his desire to play for a new franchise almost WEEKLY …
he’s not the guy for KC … older, health issues, gonna want too much $$$, at least a bit of a diva (if fans are right, as per Saints, and the guy with RotB), and a suspension … nope, not the “high character” pro that BV and Reid prefer, and most of ’em are saying “good riddance”

Has there been any talks between the 2 parties? A deal like that takes weeks or even months to hammer out. I haven’t heard any news that Jones and KC were in talks

Not that I’m aware of. I thought they backed out, thinking he’d be traded. As for Jones, it doesn’t HAVE to get done, unless we want to free up the money. But I’ve heard nothing there, either
I was talking about Jones. I haven’t heard any movement between the the two. Something like that would have to take place if there was any hope of signing Hopkins. That is why I don’t think they could get anything done unless these talks were done in total secret
secret treaties are hard to do when you have no idea WHO is involved
My understanding is they have been talking, so I’m sure the basic framework has at least been discussed. I’m sure they aren’t starting from zero. We don’t know that DHop is in any hurry, either.

unless Hopkins plays for some truly “dirt cheap” money I can’t see bringing him in … even then, he’d be getting reps that could go to Toney, Moore, Ross, etc and that would interfere with THEIR development
and they are, after all, the future of the Chiefs WR corps
well he would probably be a rental type player like Juju was
so I doubt he would interfere with any developement
he could be that piece this year for winning LVIII
was hoping Juju was gonna be more than a “rental” … and woulda loved to keep “at the right price” … he seemed to be pretty integral over the season
I’m always partial to building a team thru the draft as much as possible, as opposed to spending on FA’s for a year (or two)
that said, it’s BV’s call (in consultation with Big Red and Clark, of course)
that’s it … maybe Hopkins goes to the Jets and can square off against Ramsey 2x/year … just like old times
