Arrowhead Guys highlight the best offensive and defensive plays from the Chiefs season opener versus the Texans

Arrowhead Guys scours the tape to find you the biggest plays on offense and defense every week!

It seems every time the Chiefs play this silly little game called football, we are witness to a plethora of amazing plays.

While there are many great plays to chose from, there can only be two Arrowhead Guys Plays of the Game. These are your plays.

Offense

The Chiefs began the second half leading the Texans 17-7, a lead but not a comfortable one. Patrick Mahomes began efficiently moving the offense down the field when at the Texans 27 yard line on 2nd and 3 he handed the ball to rookie back Clyde Edwards-Helaire who took it to the house. In addition to being the offensive play of the game, it also demonstrated the potential CEH has in Andy Reid’s offense.

Defense

Even with a 24-7 lead in the to begin the fourth quarter, the game was not out of reach for the Texans. That is until one Tyrann Mathieu pressured his former quarterback into a poor pass that was intercepted by rookie corner L’Jarius Sneed. The Chiefs went up 31-7 on the following possession and coasted to victory.

I always liked the pick, but I like it a lot more now.

In all my years of football I have never seen a team take a knee at the end of a game while losing until last night.

60 minutes into the Texans’ season and they already gave up.

Watching the game replay right now. Boy, Niemann really whiffed on a couple consecutive tackle attempts at the end of the first half. I’ve always liked him, but he needs to clean that up. Against a better team, that can be a killer.

Mike Dana looked way better than I expected. The dude was consistently getting pressure on his snaps.

I thought it was interesting the the very FIRST tackle of the season came from The One, the Only … (brsrkr must be SO proud!)

I’d say it was more than a little help from the HB on the interception.

Missed fg at end of the first half.

Could have went into half up 4 instead we went in up 10 with momentum and the ball coming out of halftime. Game over.

The guys on the radio made a good point this morning. Watson walked off the field thinking they’d only be down 14-10 at half. By the time Watson got on the field again it was 24-7.

After he missed the FG, I said that’s enough time for Patrick.

It’s crazy, I was so confident we were going to get 3 points if he missed it. Amazing how much this team has spoiled us.

3 time outs. I figured we’d get at least a fg. We had one shot at endzone.

I knew that was going to be intercepted as soon as he threw it. Sneed didn’t need to make a great play to catch it, but he deserves it after he played so well the rest of the game.

That ball did something crazy once it left Watson’s hand. Ball went in the other direction.

I think it was hit (or Watson’s arm was hit) by Honey Badger …

Those “easy” ones are sometimes the hardest to catch. Too much time to think about it.

A few throws like that last year not only didn’t get intercepted but somehow got caught by the offense. I was very happybjebwas there and made the grab.
