“The 1st Preseason Game is in the Books”

The 1st preseason game is in the books.
The starters played a drive. The rest got the looks.
Coaches were noting which players made plays,
Seeing who was thinking, whose mind was in a daze.
At the end of the game, Chiefs fell to the Bears.
But it’s the preseason. Doesn’t count. Who cares?

Guys got the reps that needed attention.
Those who stood out got some local mention.
Comments on podcasts, blogs and fansites
Hyped standout players, and turned on the lights.
Now Chiefs are in the thoughts of Rich Eisen
Who thinks we can win, much to his surprisin’.

It must be said that Soldier Field isn’t pretty,
Like playing at Azteca in Mexico City.
The field is shoddy. Divots are the norm.
Cairo kicks on bad fields to stay in form.
Chicago’s conditions brought harm to Blake Bell
Who had scored a touchdown and was doing quite well.

Standouts include a lot of new guys.
Karlaftis had the push. The good grip was Skyy’s.
Isaiah Pacheko is our new secret weapon.
Dunlap’s still solid and McDuffie was steppin’.
And wouldn’t you know? The real sight to see
Was a veteran safety kick a PAT.

It’s still preseason game number one.
A lot more camp will have to get done.
But the first taste of action is always needed
Especially to see how the guys competed.
There’s more to come, but for now we know
The Chiefs are back, and they’re stealing the show.
