Chiefs Handle The Bills 26-17

A recap of the Chiefs Vs Bills game

That felt like more of a game than it should have…

Scoring Summary

Game Summary

The game started with Buffalo and then Kansas City exchanging punts on the back of Allen’s three consecutive incompletions and a Chiefs drive that was ultimately stalled by overthrown pass to Travis Kelce. The Bills managed to move the ball into scoring position before settling for a 48 yard field goal. As the broadcast showed Mitchell Schwartz heading to the lockerroom with a back injury, Clyde Edwards-Helaire ripped off a 31 yard scramble; toss in a few key DeMarcus Robinson catches and the Chiefs found themselves at the Buffalo 11 yard line before a nice little toss and turn found Travis Kelce in the endzone.

The Bills opened the second quarter with a touchdown drive of their own, aided greatly by a 24 yard DPI penalty on Charvarious Ward. The Chiefs answered with another touchdown of their own, featuring CEH pulling bell cow duty and Kelce capitalizing in the endzone. An unenjoyable trend showed its ugly face as Harrison Butker missed his 4th PAT attempt of the season. The Bills attempt to answer was stalled short by a Bashaud Breeland tackle for loss followed by Josh Allen throwing a pass attempt to Frank Clark’s arm. The Chiefs took the field with just over a minute remaining in the half and looked to move into field goal range, something Butker is still good at, before Kelce fumbled the ball rather than running out of bounds. The Bills moved into scoring position but were wide right on their attempt for three.

The Chiefs opened the second half churning down the field on the back of CEH’s hard running, but a heads up play by Josh Norman coming back to the ball broke up a 3rd and 7 attempt to DeMarcus Robinson forcing the punt. The Bills answered by having Allen throw more random passes out of bounds before punting back to the Chiefs who again drove the field on the backs of their…uh…backs…and newfound run-oriented offense before facing 4th and inches at the 13 yard line. Andy Reid, still upset at the inept refs for not giving him a measurement, called the perfect play to pick up 6 inches. The result? A 13 yard Darrell Williams touchdown run.

The Chiefs defense forced a 3-and-out following a false start by the Bills on a 4th and inches attempt. A penalty on the punt returned backed the Chiefs up deep in their own territory. The Bills answered with back to back late hit out of bounds penalties and before you knew it the Chiefs offense was across mid-field before stalling at the 16 yard line and settling for three on a 37 yard Butker field goal. But faster than you could blink an eye, Kansas City’s garbage defense from a week prior was suddenly in full effect, allowing the Bills to travel 75 yards in 6 plays into the endzone. The Chiefs soon found themselves back in scoring position with help from a 37 yard strike to Byron Pringle. Content to run as much clock out as possible, the Chiefs settled for a 30 yard Butker field goal. The Bills tried to make a game of it but another Josh Allen pass to oblivion this time came down in the hands of Dirty Dan.

Game: Blouses.

Box Score Champs

People need to take it easy on Kilgore…. 99% of the game they were playing in coverage and the Bills don’t have the monsters up front that we’ve faced. We know we struggle in short yard and goal line instances and those really didn’t come up much.

What DID come up was the close out drive when teams knew we were going to run the ball (aka goal line) we got fucking rolled straight backwards.

Side point: Please don’t bring back LDT. We really needed him and he thought, in his fantasy brain, that he would be some super hero during COVID. I bet he’s really kicking himself with how many people he’s having to tell, “well, not much we can really do for you, go take some decongestants and nyquil”. You got duped, boy.

Not based on stats and reality. the vast vast vast vast vast majority 99% of people have a head cold, a cough, and lose their sense of taste and smell. So yes, I would bet my life that he’s doing like the doctors that met with me and my wife and others in my vast company who have contracted COVID and said…until it gets bad (pneumonia/ventilator/etc) treat it as a cold….take dayquil/nyquil etc… stay hydrated and get rest.

This is what’s happening and this is most likely all LDT is doing.

NOTICE, I didn’t say COVID was nothing… I even backed Damien because there are certain people with real issues that can make it worse.

So, I had 2-3-4 parts to my initial post, care to elaborate with anything of substance? You still haven’t yet.

Have you talked to LDT and determined this is all he’s doing? He chose to look out and take care of people instead of playing a sport but you have this negative view of him because it affects your favorite sports team. What about LDT helping helping those with real issues? Based on you and your vast company, I would say you can’t determine what LDTs affect on others is. The virus is ever evolving and no one knows the true lasting effects of it and what it may look like come winter. Let’s hope it’s not as bad and we have plenty of great people like LDT ready to take care of those at need.

First of all, I said my take about not giving him the time of day again is an opinion that can be argued.

Secondly, I’m speculating based on his experience as a doctor and the level of care he would give. Again, I would speculate any 1st year MDs could easily take his place.

I think what bothers me is that people put him on a pedestal for doing this “great thing” when it really wasn’t necessary and he could have helped out his teammates, coaches, and owners who helped him grow and invested in not only him but his future. (including bending over backwards to help him become a doctor)

Instead, he got duped by the COVID hysteria and here we are…

I really would bet, after all the lame stuff he’s probably done with COVID so far…he’s kicking himself he didn’t play in the NFL this season.

Prior to this game, I had rated CEH a 5 out of 10 as a draft pick. Had showed flashes but had some really bad moments as well. I believe this game pushes him up to a 7 our of 10. Have to see more hard running to rate him higher.

I’m admittedly no expert, but I enjoy giving my opinions based on watching players and reading other draft “experts.” With Winfield, I saw a possible Tyrann Mathieu clone. Great instincts, super-intense, ballhawk, twitchy athlete. I loved the idea of pairing him with Mathieu and Thornhill to give us all sorts of matchup options. Probably a bit of a luxury to have three good Safeties though.

My one compromise in life is that I do not watch a lot of college football – Same as you, I read what the experts say and go from there.

Mattl
Reply to  EAFOX
10/19/2020 8:36 pm

I believe in a lot of players when I see the intensity/preparation they bring to the game. It’s hard to estimate what Mathieu has meant to this team with his mental toughness/intensity. I really hope we find a way to extend him after this year – before he hits FA in 2022. So the idea of getting a potentially younger version of that kind of player was exciting.

But hey, I’m an amateur. I love having CEH and plan on watching him help us get another Super Bowl this year.

Hill’s stats had to be pedestrian, I assume. I’ve been waiting for someone to prove he can be a consistent WR2, aside from Sammy.

I remember seeing complaints about our run D, so I decided to check the stats. Bad run D? They held the entire offense to under 100 yards, to be precise, 84 of them. Furthermore, Allen had 42 and Singletary only 32. That strikes me as really good run D, with the worst of it being gashed by called QB runs they weren’t expecting. What’s to fuss about?

EAFOX

We will never be the 85 Bears but our ability to play good situational defense has propelled us to where we are. For today, I think our defensive line was better than their offensive line and that made the difference. I will say that Allen is hard to bring down.

I admit I don’t understand all the X’s and O’s of football. But Mahomes clearly has a high level of trust with Tyreek and Sammy. They ALWAYS seem to be on the same page. Definitely not the case with Hardman at this point; and sometimes DRob.

While it’s clearly not a factor that the Chiefs will have to cater to, Mahomes particularly likes him when he goes to the scramble drill, and prolly for more reasons than as a target. D-Rob’s also an excellent blocker, and may be one of the big voices demanding that the unit block and block well. If Kelce’s 2:15PM’s security blanket, then D-Rob’s his escape hatch, I think.

I have to think the coaches are disappointed in Hardman’s development so far. Really only getting manufactured touches – screens/end arounds, deep shots. If we can’t re-sign Sammy, we’ll definitely be in the market to use a top 3 round pick on a WR.

What a solid performance by Mahomes. 21-26, 225 yards, 2 TDS, plus 10 rushes for 36 yards. Not to mention a couple huge 3rd down conversions when we really needed him. Yeah. In the 4th quarter when it’s a one-score game, one poor run can put you behind the chains; and the defense will likely be putting 6-7 guys in the box. I trust our MVP to throw the ball down field and make the defense pay for it.
