A very expected move becomes official as the Chiefs use their franchise tag on Orlando Brown. So he’ll be in Kansas City for at least one more year and hopefully more as the Chiefs work out a long term deal for him.
Different breaking news, but WTF did the NFL expect? Time for the conspiracy people to start in on our game again.

the talk was that an extension for Hill might net a 10 million dollar saving to the cap this year, cutting Hitchens, and our existing cap
would get us to like 11 million dollars currently before free agency
extending Hill and Tagging Brown, and cutting Clark would get us to around 22 million
Van Noy for depth? Seems like the kind of guy Spags could really move around.
How much are we talking if he plays under the Tag?
I want to say neighborhood of $16M …
it’s a really upscale neighborhood

F*CK!!!
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Chiefs S Tyrann Mathieu is going to see what type of contracts might be available to him in free agency and outside of Kansas City. The veteran defensive back is expected to be coveted for his leadership and could command a double-digit annual salary per Rapoport.
I CAN’T TAKE ANOTHER YEAR OF Dan Sorensen, as a starter!!!
2021:
#1 in NFL for blown coverages
#1 in NFL for missed tackles
BTW: I’m talking about 2021 — not Al Bundy (married with children), remember when Dan did this, remember when he did that.
If they don’t get Tyrann they will go after others. At least that is my hope if they are dumb enough to plan on Sorensen as a starter then everyone needs to be fired.
Seems to me one of the primary responsibilities of a safety is to make receivers pay for going across the middle. We really haven’t been strong defending the middle of the field. I like Tyrann and think he’s a good leader but we really don’t make teams pay for going down main street. It wouldn’t really bother me if we made a change there, especially with the money involved to keep him.
something was said about top safety money
like 45 million or something, I am assuming a 3 year deal
Wow that was quick.
Get him signed to an extension before free agency starts. If we have to keep him on the tag, we can’t be major spenders this year.
someone’s gettin’ it … I know it isn’t me
stripper for Silver Sneakers?
thumbs up!
Offseason, hope he’s studying film, working on footwork, technique & hitting gym
And, reaching out to willie roaf (as a mentor) or any other HOF left tackle
Every ultra successful person (in biz and/or life) has a mentor
Willie Roaf should be every KC O-lineman’s mentor. OL Coach works too.
not a surprise that it’s happening, only that it’s the first of the off-season to happen, and not that much of a shock either: reports that they’re trying to do a long-term deal have been going around for awhile, and might as well do the tag now and know where you stand vis-a-vis cap space as much as possible going into the season instead of waiting around
It might also add some pressure for some players under contract that they are working on renegotiating deals with, like Frank Clark, that there’s a deadline for coming to terms before getting cut.
I am pretty sure Clark is done and will be designated a post June 1 cut
