Tuesday O/T: Gehrig Dieter’s New Training Regimen

We take a peak at the secret to Gehrig Dieter’s training and get a reminder not to sleep on Damien Williams from RGR.

After missing a few O/T’s recently and being saved by the Dave and Tony shows, respectively, I guess its time for ole Tony to get back on it and pull his dang weight around here. I’ve been enjoying beefing up the O/T’s with interesting topics of the day, so we’ll stick with that trend as we check out Gehrig Dieter’s intense, and very progressive, new training regimen.

It looks like Dieter’s pups are giving him a solid advantage in refining his footwork, though one has to wonder if he should have gotten Boxer’s instead…

Its been a Pun-filled day at Arrowhead Guys, why stop now? Though to be honest, I’m not sure if that even qualifies as a pun. It more likely just the worst dad joke ever spoken into existence. But enough of that, with Brandon Perna on vacation for a couple weeks the Youtube content out there is a little sparse these days. Its a good thing we have our old friend Ryan Tracy of RGR to fill us in on Dan Harms’ favorite running back.

New on the Tube

Time to load up the kids and head to the pool. I’ll check in with you later Arrowhead Guys.

The last sky-glow is fading from the north-norhtwestern horizone and will be gone in a few minutes, which will be followed by tonight’s 3rd shift thread shortly after that.

Very excited about the chiefs this year. We were an inch away from the superbowl last year. I’d argue our offense only got better, our defense should be average at worst, so there’s no reason we shouldn’t see an improved output pending some unforeseen horrible circumstance, to which this franchise is completely immune from as we all know intimately well.

Down 3-7 in the Bot 7th, the Royals have a little small-ball rally going, and now it’s 5-7, 1 out, and runners at the corners.

Our Eldest dropped by today, and as usual the quick visit turned into a couple hours of chatting about a broad range of things. One of them was about his brother going to visit my worthless, no good, very bad brother-in-law this summer. The three of us detest him, but I cautioned the wife & (26yo) kid that we shouldn’t export our feelings about him & his wife, but to let him find his own way in that relationship.

It is, in its way, an extension of the principle that you leave the kids out of any arguments during and after a nasty divorce. Using your kids as ways to “get at” your ex is about as anti-parenting as you can get, after all. So keep the personal disputes out of it, even though he’s an adult. He’s gotta be allowed to make his own decisions without us meddling.

As for my BIL, I detest him. At my lowest point while living in KS I called him to ask him for help that I needed really badly. Mr. “Family First” replied with “We’ll pray for you”. I shoulda cut that tie sooner, because (I missed it, being overwhelmed by the psych stuff) before that he called our FTM trans son “an abomination” on Facebook. He also think the cops should be able to violate the Constitution so they can beat someone up “to teach him some respect for the law”. I’ll stop there, because that’s just the worst of the bad, and the list is long.

I know this is a common punchline these days, but there truly is power in prayer.

Leaf

A big reason it is used as a punchline is because it’s thrown around anytime someone feels they need to show empathy but they don’t really mean what they are saying. Someone dies in your family, and people shower you with “thoughts and prayers” but 90% of the time they just go on like nothing happened. Rarely does someone actual think about you, your family, or the person that died, and rarely do they offer any prayers. The phrase “thoughts and prayers” has become lip service to the point that is comical. No one really means it (that’s hyperbole folks), so it’s a useless sentiment.

In one way, yes, but in another, no. It’s diluted because they keep adding folks, but on the other hand, if they don’t add recent greats, what’s to interest younger fans in the HOF? These days I tend to think of the HOF as a sort of museum/Memory Alpha kind of thing, the repository of the NFL’s legacy.

But that’s me, and I have a non-standard POV, so Y’all’s mileage may vary.

You have a point, but that depends on how many of them are deserving legacy players who’ve been overlooked. And sure, that can be overdone, too, but legacy players don’t contribute to the 7-8 per year vs. draftees.

Now if it’s 7-8 of players who’ve retired in, say, the last 10 years I’d be on board. But the legacy snubs go to what I consider to be the museum side of the Hall.

I have an issue with the fact that there are players that are HoFer’s but don’t get put in for arbitrary reasons. To harken back to the Chiefs, Taylor and Lynch should have been in by now. The voters have a clear bias against players who made their name in the AFL but also don’t like to put a bunch of players from the same team in. That is why it took so long for Culp and Robinson to get in.

Taylor is in some bad health so it would be nice for him to get inducted while he is still among us. What hurts Lynch also is the fact that he played alongside two Hall of Fame LB’s in Lanier and Bell.

Indirectly related, but if you like green onions, a better way to store them than in the fridge is to simply put them in a glass with a littlle water in it. Doesn’t just keep them fresh, they’ll regrow a few times if you snip off what you need with a scissors. Change the water occasionally so it doesn’t stink, and replace when they get to looking root-bound.

Hill, Watkins, Hardman are for sure there. That leaves 3 spots.

Byron Pringle is going to make it.

If Robinson makes it like most think, that leaves 1 spot. I’m not sure Robinson is on the 53, but he could be.

BJ Kissel said Cody Thompson has caught everything thrown at him, and he believes he’s going to make the team. Mahomes mentioned him by name as a standout a while back. I believe he will make it, too. I really like what I’ve seen of him.

The Chiefs already paid Custis $100,000. It’s hard for me to see them cutting a guy they paid $100,000 already, but maybe they will.

I just haven’t seen any evidence G Dieter can be a legit NFL WR.

I would pick Pringle and Deiter with Thompson mystery IR.

If Hill wasn’t suspended I would drop Deiter, keep Pringle and mystery IR Thompson.

For several years I worked downtown and took the bus every day. I took a bus called the 15X, with the X standing for express. As you might imagine, the express route was similar to the 15 route except it didn’t stop at as many stops.

Or maybe you can’t imagine it, because about 2-3 times per week there would be somebody yelling at the bus driver for not stopping at one of the 15 stops and they had to explain the whole 15X thing.

So I quit that job, did my own thing for a while, and recently got another job downtown and am taking that same bus again. I’ve discovered that they changed the 15x route to 16, presumably because of how much confusion it caused. It confused me for a bit at first since I was used to 15X, but I thought it was a good idea. It would make the difference between 15 and 16 more clear and people wouldn’t get confused.

Or not. I’m about a week into my new job and yet again 2-3 people have yelled at the bus driver for not stopping at the 15 stops even though the bus is clearly labeled 16.

I’ve never been to Cincinnati, or ridden public transportation in any smaller city other than KC, but KCATA seems really nice for a city our size. If you live in the right area you can legitimately get by comfortably without a car.

I have to say Beijing’s subways system was the most impressive. It made me realize how crappy NYC’s is. In NYC they have all sort of redundant lines and the same lines going in opposite directions, but in Beijing it’s one line and on any given stop you know there’s only one line you can get on. They even have two circular lines. My biggest issue is that it takes forever to go diagonal through the city.

But the taxi is so cheap that it really doesn’t matter. You could take the taxi everywhere and not break the bank.

Tyrone

I remember taking the taxi from the airport to my hotel in Beijing 12 years ago. There was a lot of traffic, so it took about 45 minutes to get there, not even sure how far it was, but it cost about $3.

I think it’s easier if the say express. That way theoretically people will see “express” and check which stops it actually makes. In reality that doesn’t happen because people are dumb.

I hate that I used “him”, “he” , and “his” in the one sentence while referring to two different people.

In chinese the words for “her”, “him”, and “it” all sound identical, which makes the situation 10x worse.

Personally I’m hoping the Democrats nominate another woman for president this time around, that made talking about the election using pronouns so much easier.

What new training regimen do you recommend for the new training regiment?

It makes perfect sense if you think about it.
