You never really hear about it since the Chargers never made the Super Bowl with him, but they’ve had one of the most stable quarterback situations in the NFL before parting with Rivers. The last time the Chiefs player a Chargers team without Rivers starting was 2005 when Drew Brees was still leading the team. In fact it’s been 20 years since the Chargers played the Chiefs without Rivers, Brees, or Doug Flutie, and that was when Ryan Leaf was starting.
Another fun streak is how long it’s been since the Chargers have beaten the Chiefs on a Sunday. The last Chargers win over the Chiefs was 2018, but that was on Thursday (a day with notoriously fluky results). Outside of that the Chiefs have won every matchup since 2013. Reid is 11-3 against the Chargers since coming to KC, and even then one of those losses was with backups in 2013.
