Some of y’all may recall that I have opined on the RIAA recently, and that how at one point they were demanding the gov’t ban the sale of cassette recording tech to the general public, because the tech would lead to massive piracy that would destroy the industry, right? Buckle up, because from what I just read, here we go again, or Second Verse, Same As The First.

Seems the RIAA sent a C&D letter to Github, demanding they take down their Youtube downloader section, because it was used by copyright violators. Sound familiar yet? The good news is that with the EFF’s help, they pushed back, pointing out that the RIAA can’t demand the ban of a tool as apt to be used for good as well as bad. This is “knives are used to stab people, so knives should be banned entirely” logic from the RIAA here, folks. A huge collective of powerful corporations who believe they have the authority to write American law. And don’t forget their twin sister and incestuous lover, the MPAA. Don’t get me started, and now you’ve been warned.

You are behind the times. They did this about a week ago, and GitHub just put it up and said the RIAA is full of shit with their allegations

Yes that is the downside of the digital world. If it’s lost, it’s gone. But the trade off is a much wider world at your finger tips, virtually instantaneously. There are pros-and-cons to everything

I feel no need to keep track of news as it breaks, and my sources are long-form articles, which take longer than sound bytes to generate.

And anyway, the point wasn’t to break news, but to demonstrate that the RIAA has been running this routine for decades, the only thing that changes is their target.

I was just giving you a hard time old timer 😜.

I’m not one that is up with all the latest news, but I follow a lot of the tech world stuff. Yes the RIAA has been doing this for decades, but they haven’t always been successful.

And I would say that they are mostly unsuccessful, in the long run, and the MPAA did the same thing about VHS tapes. “Gonna ruin everything!”, they shrieked. tl;dr, they’re following a playbook by rote, and suppression of technological freedom is a core intent of that.

Yep, getting Schwartz back at anywhere over than 90% would be huge, and if Fish can make the cut for the game, Remmers can move back to guard and help shore up the IOL. Rankin, et al. coming back will be helpful in every instance, but Mitch’s impact is a couple levels up.

There was once a shit ‘n git place in Fosston, MN that starting selling pizza, assembled fresh, and I tell you what, it was great. The crust…would you believe me if I told you that it was crispy, flaky, and properly chewy, all at once? Good quality ingredients, too, got so popular that they built an annex as a restaurant.

Last I heard, they closed down, but in its time it had next-level pizza in a place you’d never expect to find it.

the lyrical imagry sure ws..
“Knuckle deep inside the borderline
This may hurt a little but it’s something you’ll get used to
Relax Slip away
Something kinda sad about
The way that things have come to be
Desensitized to everything
What became of subtlety?
How can it mean anything to me
If I really don’t feel anything at all?
I’ll keep digging till
I feel something
Elbow deep inside the borderline
Show me that you love me and that we belong together
Shoulder deep within the borderline
Relax, turn around and take my hand”

We always think that “Oh Player X, Y, or Z might be able to do that” and it never happens. We thought Pringle could, we thought Hardman could and neither are fitting that mold. Probably won’t find a guy in the draft this year because I anticipate two of KC’s first three picks to be IOL. I guess a mid round guy isn’t out of the question, but still.

BleedingRedAndGold
Reply to  SCKSChief
11/18/2020 8:36 pm

Hardman’s only his second year into the Reid Playbook, which is famed for its size and complexity, and as for Pringle, I said almost as good, since Sammy will merely step back into his normal role.

But there’s one more fly in that ointment, and that’s the fact that the Chiefs didn’t draft Hardman to literally be Hill, they drafted him because they wanted Hardman. Same goes for any player, Reid doesn’t force his scheme onto players, he crafts it to put them in the best position possible to shine. So in that sense we won’t “replace” Watkins, we’ll adapt to whoever’s next.

Which is all fine and good, but the offense hasn’t really found that same stride without Sammy as with him. I am really disappointed with the lack of a run game right now…that too would help.

What’s really hurting them, IMO, is lack of stability. Continuity has been the hallmark of great OLs for time out of mind, and these guys keep having to shuffle. If we get some bodies back, the bye will perhaps allow them to get a mix that settles in.

Preponderance of the evidence changed my mind, which is a good enough standard. What changes your mind, however, is unknown. Perhaps you are so inflexible that you cannot even imagine someone who would examine the evidence and adjust his opinions to reflect the new understanding, but there are other possibilities.

That doesn’t mean I’m wishy-washy, because my principles are inflexible. It’s possible to change my mind, but that takes facts, reasoning, and an understanding of my position. I could go into your shortcomings on the first two, but those really don’t matter because you consistently fail to grasp the last. Your replies to me provides mounds of evidence that you aren’t interested in reason, you go with emotions, slogans, outright rudeness and a collection of verbal dirty tricks that would fit in well on the extreme, dishonest Left.

Even this comment was intended as a barb, saying yet again that I don’t hold an opinion that I have made clear publicly. That takes a degree of malice.

Chiefs signed DeAndre Baker to the practice squad.NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports this will confirmed in the coming days pending a last-minute snag. There’s limited risk on the Chiefs end to bring him on to the practice squad, but Baker has to prove he’s capable of handling himself off the field before being an actual contributor for the Chiefs down the stretch. Kansas City would be one of the best culture fits for a player like Baker who has a lengthy off-field history.

“This is something that’s directly tied to their experiences as youths. I totally believe in that. They both have outstanding spatial awareness. They both feel color more than they feel people. Blurs are very slow for them. Me? I see a blur and I’m stunned by it. Them? They see blurs and it moves much slower for them. They’re very not-structured. That touchdown is the perfect example of it. … They have the same kind of skills when it comes to that.”

“I see the coverage, see what they’re in and … I know where the ball is going to go,” Kelce said. “The biggest thing in terms of route running for me is knowing what the defense is in, knowing the coverage. Once you know the coverage, now you can start manipulating the defense. You can start to try to trick them in where you want to go and where you want to get open.”

“When Pat got into the huddle, it was just a little bit different. I think he brought a different energy, different style to the game that even I was a little more accustomed to, just going out and playing ball in the backyard type of football. As he progresses, as he starts to learn more about defenses and gets into the defensive coordinators’ minds, his game is just going to keep going up and up until probably something that we’ve never seen before — if what he’s doing already isn’t something that we’ve never seen before. It’s a fun time to be a Kansas City Chief, and it’s because 15 is in the building, for sure.”

That all makes me think about Tony Gonzalez

He left because?

He did not feel that way about our QB situation?

Travis Kelce was the star of the Chiefs Offense till Mahomes took that from him and what happened?

Kelce is an even bigger Star bit not THE Star anymore and he seems alright with that 🙂

Kelce came in at the same time as Reid and his new culture. When Tony G left, things were not looking nearly as bright.

Not sure about the feel color/people or the childhood experiences thingies, but for the rest? Yeah, I can see where he’s going with this, he’s talking about how they perceive the world around them, and how it differs from how average schmucks like him’s experience. And it’s a good point, but he misunderstands his case a bit, as demonstrated by his blur example. He’s assuming that they literally see the same blur he does, but interpret it in a different way, and there he gets it wrong, because he doesn’t actually know they’re seeing a blur in a given situation.

I could go on, as this is on my home turf, but I think this is long enough unless someone asks a question.

I took it as this

In High School the coach put me into run the ball in a varsity Friday night game (fricken Awesome) and I took the handoff and all I saw was blurs

who all promptly tackled my ass

I had no sense of anything in a real game

Same thing, really. You didn’t know what to expect, and the unexpected tends to stymie or confuse a person. Once you get used to it, your perception changes and adapts to it. As they say, “the game slows down”, given time and experience.

That said, this is why I disagree with the guy over childhood experiences. Yes, they shape us all, but the main commonality between PM and TK from them is that they were gifted multi-sport athletes in sports requiring different types of spatial awareness. Yeah, that starts in childhood, but it’s not something you can duplicate from child to child, there’s still the inherent gifts they have, and some of them are mental.

oh I agree

My special ability was to keep the networks running that told all of KC what our Chiefs and Royals were doing

No one was going to tackle me in a computer room 🙂

OakVegas and covid, who’d’a thunk it? Didn’t they have a DE pop positive? That would account for the DTs, but the DBs come from…where?

After Raiders defensive end Clelin Ferrell and cornerback Lamarcus Joyner tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, more than half of the team’s starting defense is currently on their reserve/COVID-19 list, according to NFL Networ’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero
Along with Ferrell and Joyner, defensive backs Johnathan Abram and Isaiah Johnson, defensive end Arden Key, and defensive tackles Maliek CollinsJohnathan Hankins and Kendal Vickers are also on the Raiders’ COVID-19 list. While they will not be allowed to participate in this week’s practices, each player will be eligible to face the Chiefs on Sunday if they test negative for the virus throughout the week. The Raiders, 6-3 and in second place in the AFC West, defeating the defending champion Chiefs in Kansas City back in Week 5, 40-32.

Seems the Raiders have an issue with controlling themselves

Who would have thought that

Considering how seriously Chucky’s been taking the covid precautions, it’s not a surprise.
