The only thing worse than Amazon Prime’s pre-game coverage of the Chiefs vs. Chargers was the Ravens’ coverage of the Dolphins receivers

Kirk Cousins is built for prime-time in the same way that the UK is built for hot weather

US and Canadian warships sailed through the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday following weekend remarks from President Joe Biden that the US would defend Taiwan in the event it is attacked by China.
A US Navy ship, the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Higgins, conducted a “routine Taiwan Strait transit” on Tuesday, US Navy spokesperson Lt. Mark Langford said in a statement.
The US ship conducted the transit “in cooperation with Royal Canadian Navy Halifax-class frigate HMCS Vancouver,” Langford said.
The two ships “transited through a corridor in the Strait that is beyond the territorial sea of any coastal State,” Lt. Langford said. The transit “demonstrates the commitment of the United States and our allies and partners to a free and open Indo-Pacific,” Lt. Langford added.

DANE JACKSON
DB, BUFFALO BILLS
comment image
NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo reports Bills CB Dane Jackson (head/neck) was released from the hospital. Jackson suffered a frightening Monday night injury against the Titans. He collided with a Titans player and was carted off and taken to a local hospital after being motionless for several minutes. Garofolo said Jackson has feeling in his extremities and even walked out of the hospital late Monday night. It’s tremendous news following an injury that all but silenced a rowdy Buffalo crowd.

“We’ve seen reports that Russia is now considering proceeding with these sham referenda in Ukraine, something we said that they were going to do for many months,” Blinken told reporters on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
“That would then lead to them claiming the annexation of Ukrainian territory,” he said, adding that if the referenda proceeds, the United States will never recognize the outcome.
“The sham referenda and the potential mobilization of additional forces isn’t a sign of strength. On the contrary, it’s a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of Russian failure,” America’s top diplomat added.

The requirement that Ukrainian forces first prove themselves capable of keeping a fleet of Western tanks going seems unlikely to be a major dealbreaker. U.S officials said similar things in the past ahead of the initial deliveries of HIMARS. Ukraine’s military has shown itself very capable of getting contingents rapidly trained to maintain and employ HIMARS and other more complex Western weapon systems, such as the aforementioned AGM-88s and ground-launched Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
Regardless, it’s unclear what tanks the U.S. government might be prepared to transfer. The senior defense official’s comments have already prompted speculation about the potential of U.S.-made M1 Abrams tanks hitting the battlefield in Ukraine.

damn

In terms of available tanks, the U.S. Marine Corps notably decided a few years ago to divest its entire fleet of M1s, as well as M88 armored recovery vehicles and M60 tank-based Armored Vehicle Launched Bridges (AVLB). The process has seen these vehicles transferred to the Army, though what that service’s exact plans might be for them has been unclear. The Army already has thousands of older M1s in storage, too.

US has plenty of M1s that would be suitable to give to Ukraine and they would be better than most of the tanks in that conflict. Ukraine proving themselves is not what is holding that up. The are several problems with giving the tanks (and F-16s). One is that, while it is not such a problem to train tank crews, it is a lengthy process to train the maintenance crews necessary. Also, I think they run on different fuel than the current (Russian) Ukrainian tanks, meaning that they will add to logistic/supply loads. They get 2 gallons per mile – you read that right. These problems are why the first donated tanks have been Russian manufactured/designed tanks sourced from ex-Soviet bloc countries/allies (and, of course, captured tanks from Russia). Similar reasons for MIGs being donated from European countries that have them rather than F-16s. Easier to use equipment Ukraine is already familiar with and has maintenance experience with – at least initially.
It was much easier to get artillery delivered and in use – and HIMARS needed crews trained to use them but there were fewer of them and ammunition could be delivered in the same supply lines as other artillery.
Eventually Ukraine will get more modern tanks and planes when they have the bandwidth to build up the considerable infrastructure to support them.

Everyone wants to christen Allen so Mahomes will have to clearly surpass his numbers. Herbert is given the tough SOB slot. Tua is the new face whereas Rodgers and Brady are given veteran courtesy for bad moments. Hurts can make noise if Philly wins 12+ games this year. Hard to ignore Jackson’s performance. Tyreek will be given credit at every turn for Miami’s wins and Kyler is seen as a one man show.

Amazon’s first broadcast of “Thursday Night Football” attracted a record number of new Prime signups over a three-hour period, more than during similar periods on Prime Day or other big shopping days such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, an executive said in a memo viewed by CNBC.
The matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers last week was the first of 15 games Amazon will broadcast as part of a deal with the National Football League. Amazon is spending about $1 billion per year to exclusively stream Thursday Night Football through 2023, CNBC previously reported.

“By every measure, Thursday Night Football on Prime Video was a resounding success,” Jay Marine, global head of Amazon’s sports division, wrote late Monday in the memo to staff.
