Well, getting ready to leave to drop off my meds at Walgreens – hate going to the pharmacy during the day. On the bright side, a sixty year old plus hooker hangs out at the bus stop in front of the store so I might have to ask her how much it will cost to break her hip. If I run into Jane Fonda, I will need to be bailed out cause I am not sure what I might do to that #(*$*^$$(%^$(#^ commie $$*(%^#)^@$*.

Not a Chiefs fan doesn’t bother me as long as they were not a Broncos or Raiders fan. If they said they were a Chargers fan, I would assume I was being catfished because those don’t exist.

Ok guys! I am making a big push to finally get what was supposed to be my 40th birthday present last year and go to my first ever Chiefs game! Here’s what I need to know to you All that are hopefully in the know.

Does Arrowhead do tours on game day or at least the day before? Also, have we heard anything about whether training camp will allow fans? Are there any other must do’s surrounding a first ever Chiefs experience? Does AG have an official tailgating spot that I can come crash on game day?

All these questions outside of training camp are assuming we are back to normal numbers allowed at arrowhead.

Thanks in advance guys!

I was a season ticket holder, but I never heard anything about tours, but you can explore the Chiefs Hall of Fame and the concourses, since they let folks in well before kickoff. As for AG, no, we unfortunately do not have anything official, but there are folks who tailgate there around here, so come the time you schedule your entrance to the Temple, do some asking around. If nothing else, try to touch base with Anthony Stratton, and see what’s going on with him.

Obviously Covid could change everything again.

Arrowhead does do tours on non game days.

https://www.chiefs.com/stadium/tours

We won’t know about training camp plans until summer probably.

Go in the stadium as early as you can to see the Chiefs Hall of Fame.

Haven’t tailgated with any of these guys yet. Still not sure if I can trust them.

I don’t know about now, because of COVID etc., but they offer really cool Arrowhead stadium tours before the game. At the end of the tour you get 15 minutes or so on the sideline while the players are warming up. It is a great experience and well worth it! We happened to be standing next to Kelce’s mom and so my daughter got to see Travis Kelce, her favorite player, at about 4 ft away. Just look on the Chiefs team website and you can follow some links to see how to book a tour. Hopefully they will offer them again this season. I loved being on the sideline, but they also take you to the press box and all around the stadium which is really cool.

Part of the problem in my opinion – people think in colors not people. My friends are my friends – I do not separate them by ethnicity or gender and such. I dated a black girl in high school – we had to hide it from our parents and most of our friends. I did not think of her as black – I thought about her as the woman I loved. She did not see me as white. Obviously, we were not color blind but none of that crap mattered.

Of course, fictional utopias are always dystopias, if you look closely and without assumptions.

JFC, Orwell’s Brave New World described a utopia while showing it as a dystopia. That right there oughta tell y’all something.

My friends just moved back from there, but they still get updates. I guess there is somebody killing people in a mostly black area with a knife. Obviously we won’t know the race of the person until they are caught, but most serial killers kill within their own ethnic group.

When does society have the right to limit the rights of the racists? It is not illegal to be racist – one can hate whites, blacks, hispanics, asians and such but when do their words impel society to act – that is the line that is being crossed today.

I consider “White privilege” to be a misnomer, because the disparity is in the fact that non-whites are not given all the rights they are entitled too. Few see it that way, so they try to focus on outcomes, but that’s going symptoms over sources, and there are a lot of nasty sources buried in the system, deeply enough to be nothing good PR can’t hide.

As far as haters go, last I heard from Saints, he hated my guts, but because when I hate, I hate intensely I(‘m not willing to expend the energy to return the favor. Relating to that, when I criticize various gov’t practices, I am most decidedly not going after the individuals within the group, unless one gives me reason to, like Chauvin did. What I’m talking about is the mechanics of a system and things embedded in it that are inclined to produce unfair outcomes based on the category you are in. Racism’s likely the biggest one, but bias against those committing the crime of poverty is much more widespread.

Hate? As I’ve said before, I have a grudge list of one, someone I’ll probably never meet again. Please don’t try to displace him.

BleedingRedAndGold
Reply to  steve_chiefs
05/04/2021 10:25 pm

And that’s the product of our cultural view of poverty, that if they are poor, it’s their own fault. Unfortunately, that view is blind to actual reality. Poor people don’t cluster because they want to, it’s zoning and economics that determines it happens. That places them farther away from good job opportunities, a definite disadvantage.

The divide gets worse when the police generalize their role as protecting the good folks from the bad folks, because that generalization gets applied to different communities, producing different results that seemingly prove the bias. It also ensures that the utterly innocent will be treated much the same way as those with the more common criminal tendencies, who are still a small minority of the population.

BleedingRedAndGold
Reply to  BleedingRedAndGold
05/04/2021 10:30 pm

And since I’m already pontificating, there’s also the problem with policies which actively make things worse, and the (debunked) Broken Windows theory is one of the best examples. Whatever the BS stated intent happens to be, what actually happens one or more officers identify a juvenile they consider to be “at risk” of turning to a life of crime…and then proceed to bust him on minor things regularly, to the point where he can’t get a job that pays a living wage, with no advancement above that.

Somebody explain to me, with facts, logic, and reason how that system is not inclined to produce a criminal.

BleedingRedAndGold
Reply to  EAFOX
05/04/2021 10:40 pm

As I said, intensity and generality make the difference. You could say with justification that the invisibility of White poverty is another major social issue, but I think that the key one is that when it comes to how the government treats you, it’s hard to separate them from each other enough to identify how much of each is in play.

Unfortunately, the culture we live in is just fine with limiting rights based on socioeconomic status. This can produce some unique results, such as the trial and conviction of former officer Daniel Holtzclaw for being a serial rapist while on duty. His family was positively outraged that he was being treated like one of those dirty poor people instead of being handled with kid gloves, as accused officers usually are. I told them welcome to the system their son was feeding people into and how it actually works on Facebook. Oddly enough, they blocked me from their “free the claw” page.

BleedingRedAndGold
Reply to  EAFOX

Were his victim a White equivalent of Floyd in all the relevant ways, I actually do think a White would have had a better chance of surviving the encounter. In this instance, we’re isolating one factor and looking close, but statistically, that’s how it falls. PR drives a good bit of it, too, just compare mugshots of those accused of crimes.

But you touch on another unpleasant reality, Floyd White’s survival isn’t at all guaranteed. That’s due to a number of factors that didn’t actually cause that outcome, but they increase the likelihood of them, and that’s where the biasing influences come in, because they do the steering.

Everyone within his jurisdiction? Seems fairly likely, but did you know that his precinct also had a reputation for being hard on Blacks, one notable compared to the other stations of PDs in the MLPS/St. P metro?

Another “fun” fact, but to set it up, remember former Detective Gerald Gloins, he of the completely falsified search warrant that led to two innocent people getting killed and several officers injured, not to mention a habit of getting busts by setting up and/or framing the “disposable people” he had access to? That’s to such an extent that it looks like almost every bust made where he was the solo or lead officer are going to be nullified.

The “fun” fact is, is that Gloins busted Floyd, too. Being abused by two bad cops in two really different states should tell people something.

Firstly, there’s the nose limit of rights. In that sense, you really can believe whatever you want. However, that’s not the whole story, because organizing to create results changes individual rights into a collective effort to inflict harm on others.

I’m personally against racism enhancements for sentences, as those standards never consider all the facts or the reliability of those talking about them. I wonder, however, if conspiracy to commit racism becoming a crime is legally viable. Haters gonna hate, and there will always be haters – so it’s easy to mistake hate as being racially motivated when it’s not, but organizing to degrade people based on race? That’s more sharply defined.

What I like most about getting Gray is it puts defenses in a precarious situation.

A 2WR, 2TE, 1 RB formation usually leads to a defensive base formation. We could split Kelce out against that and have a LB guarding him. Which means a safety will have to help. The other safety will will then be the deep middle trying to keep Hill and Hardman from burning them over the top. That leaves Gray and CEH in one on ones against the other two LBs.

I don’t know of a team in the league that has enough coverage linebackers. If they decide to go big nickel and bring in a third safety to replace a backer, we should be able to run against that with our new line.

Gray gives us insurance if Kelce were to miss time. And he makes us more diverse as an offense.

I truly think any WR we could have drafted this year is equal to or worse than Pringle and DRob.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Chancellorsville#May_4%E2%80%936:_Union_withdrawals today many years ago Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson Slavery https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_Jackson Stonewall Jackson in 1855 Little known as he was to the white inhabitants of Lexington, Jackson was known by many of the African Americans in town, both slaves and free blacks.[citation needed] In 1855, he organized Sunday School classes for blacks at the Presbyterian Church. His second wife, Mary Anna Jackson, taught with Jackson, as “he preferred that my labors should be given to the colored children, believing that it was more important and useful to put the strong hand of the Gospel under the ignorant African race, to lift them up”.[28] The pastor, Dr. William Spottswood White, described the relationship between Jackson and his Sunday afternoon students: “In their religious instruction he succeeded wonderfully. His discipline was systematic and firm, but very kind. … His servants reverenced and loved him, as they would have done a brother or father. … He was emphatically the black man’s friend.” He addressed his students by name and they, in turn, referred to him affectionately as “Marse Major”.[29] Jackson owned six slaves in the late 1850s. Three (Hetty, Cyrus, and George, a mother and two teenage sons) were received as part of the dowry at his marriage to Mary Anna Jackson.[30] Another slave, Albert, requested that Jackson purchase him and allow him to work for his freedom; he was employed as a waiter in one of the Lexington hotels and Jackson rented him to VMI. Amy also requested that Jackson purchase her from a public slave auction and she served the family as a cook and housekeeper. The sixth, Emma, was a four-year-old orphan with a learning disability, accepted by Jackson from an aged widow and presented to his second wife, Mary Anna, as a welcome-home gift.[31] After Jackson was shot at Chancellorsville, a slave “Jim Lewis, had stayed with Jackson in the small house as he lay dying”.[32] Mary Anna Jackson, in her 1895 memoir, said, “our servants … without the firm guidance and restraint of their master, the excitement of the times proved so demoralizing to them that he deemed it best for me to provide them with good homes… Read more »

Nailed it. She wasn’t protesting the war, she was supporting the North Korean attempt to conquer its southern counterpart. IIRC, POWs tried to pass her secret messages, which she immediately turned over. That may be an urban legend, of course, but when her popularity started to suffer from her decisions back then, I distinctly recall her trying to portray herself as a duped victim.

Were I to actually buy that, the ones who duped her would’ve been her rabid Leftist counterparts, but she’s always stood by them. She may not have legally been a traitor, but she had treason in her heart.

As times evolve so do people. A person is a racist now that says they don’t like the NBA. I kind of wish we had a time machine to take the oversensitive back to the 1950’s to show them what a real racist was.

My first teaching job was at a school with a 99% black student population. After a few years there, me and the teachers I worked with on the same team had some cake – inviting the vice principal and a counselor. As we sat in our meeting and eating some cake, the counselor asked me. “How does it feel to be the only white person in the room?” My response – “Well, until you brought it up, I didn’t think about it at all.”

Amen. It takes mental effort, something that seems in short supply these days, but with minor variations has probably always been the case.

T. J. Jackson was a unique individual in a time that was full of them. We can step back and say that he fought for a horrid cause, but in context he was likely less outright racist than many Northern slave owners. The ACW is nowhere close to being as clear-cut as schools teach it. There are stories of atrocity on both sides, along with manufactured atrocities applied to the hated other side.

A good example of that is the NOLA controversy surrounding Gen. Benjamin Butler’s order that women who were engaged in acts of blatant disrespect toward Union soldiers as public women plying their trade. The horror of a woman mooning a soldier (more serious back then) being treated like a prostitute set the South ablaze with hatred for Butler, but the part where these “ladies” were committing some very rude and immoral behavior.

I was thinking today

How many Americans displaced from the north to the south and vice versa based on their Idea?

The great American migration would make sense

I assume once the war started the borders were mostly closed between North and South

BleedingRedAndGold
Reply to  steve_chiefs
05/04/2021 9:27 pm

“Closed” is tricky to define in the war years, since in the border states it was mostly local sympathies that determined who interacted with whom, but family loyalties and friendships probably mitigated that among the population who stayed on the homesteads. Not everyone was a fervent partisan for the cause, after all.

As for a “great migration”, while there was some movement for various reasons, there wasn’t much motivation for people to sell/abandon their homesteads and load up everything in a wagon. That sort of relocation was basically only for the wealthy class, and former slave owners weren’t about to relocate to live among the hated Yankees. Once again, it’s a matter of logistics, and at the time, travel was slow and expensive.

And having grown up in a small town in a rural area I can say that while I was never exposed to the extremities he describes, I’ve seen enough to know that there’s an element of truth to every last one of them. Sometimes I do and most times I don’t, but you can train yourself to remember them. Costs a little sleep, at first, but there are workable systems out there.

Mostly what I do remember is the more vivid stuff, but every once in a while I have one that’s weirdly real, and those contribute a lot to my déjà vu moments. Coincidence and confirmation bias are of course in play, and likely play some role, but they can be bizarrely specific. Unfortunately, they also lack context, so while some might snap into sharp focus later, as prophecy, it’s useless.

I’m highly inclined to stick to things like facts, science, and reason, but I’ve had enough strange experiences that I never lose track of Hamlet’s “There more things in Heaven and Earth than are imagined in your philosopies*, Horatio.”. *In context, here philosophies means sciences, and it’s damn good advice, since even science experts will tell you that there’s a lot that science can’t yet explain.
