Tuesday Night O/T: Major Momentum For a Downtown Baseball Stadium, Which Also Impacts The Team Accross The Parking Lot

There have been rumblings of the Royals moving to a downtown stadium for a long time. And in the circles I run in the idea is quite popular. Today those murmurs became more official as the Royals’ owner came out in favor of it.

Now there’s all sorts of interesting discussion to be had there, but this is a Chiefs blog, so let’s focus on that aspect.

If the Royals move downtown, that leaves just the Chiefs to exist in an even bigger sea of parking lots. That is not a situation that will last for long without controversy, as it would be a massive amount of space that could be used for other things like apartments, bars, hotels, etc. This is actually the current trend in stadium developments. Instead of just building a stadium, cities will build entire districts around the stadium as well (see the new Los Angeles stadium for a prime example).

Regardless, the Royals moving downtown will have a big impact on the Chiefs’ gameday experience.

Wow, what a way to lose a day, but no regrets. Just walked my youngest through cooking his first pot roast, and the Discord cam-call was only 2.5+ hours long.

Always enjoy talking with my kids, they don’t care to natter about trivialities, they have things with meaning to say.

Oh, it was. Some ribbing, some dad jokes, lots of teaching and plenty of fun to be had. He’s looking forward to trying it again next week, with whole roast chicken as the main event.

Instead of building a downtown stadium, maybe KC should build up their mass transit to the existing stadiums. Make it easier to get to and more people would go. And it would alleviate traffic for Chiefs games as well.

The way KC is set up in general, are there enough people that live downtown that will go to the ballgames? Downtown is almost all businesses and hospitals.

as part of the downtown power and light sure there are enough

but

I agree with you mass transit could also make things work anywhere

I just looked up some population density maps for the KC area and it doesn’t make very much sense to put in a downtown stadium. There are way more people in the surrounding areas that would have to travel in for a game. It would create an even larger hassle than having to drive to the current location.

KC should develop a monorail system that could take you to Kauffman. Then the Royals should lower their ticket prices to entice more people to come.

I was going to take my family to a game this summer. I was looking for third level seats around the infield. The Royals were asking $55/ticket. And there were way more available than sold. I chose not to go because how outrageous those prices seemed.

I took my family to a Rangers game at their new ballpark earlier this summer. I got all you can eat and drink (non alcohol) seats in the outfield for $40.

Wouldn’t they rather sell 100 seats for $30, than 40 seats for $55? That is more in ticket sales and more people to buy concessions and merchandise.

I must say that Kansas City is doing a good job of reclaiming nothing into something

Where a downtown stadium would sit is almost to me

a no brainer

around 18th and Brooklyn

Speaking of nerdy movies. I watched one the other day that I think Tony mentioned in one of his Friday night at the movies posts. Some others chimed in that they liked it as well. So I stumbled upon it on Amazon and gave it a shot.

Highlander is not a very good movie, and I don’t understand why it has such a cult following. Maybe if I saw it as a kid, it would hold some sentimental value, but I think it was worse than Masters of the Universe.

Where downtown were they planning on putting a stadium?

Downtown stadiums are cool. Petco Field in San Diego is a perfect example. It’s like a neighborhood stadium inside the Gaslamp District. You don’t have to drive, use the Metro train to get there and walk around. Have a few pops then stumble over to the ballgame.

I’m behind in my day, so while it’s a song I like and a subject I love, I had to cut it short. I gave it around 3min, and I just want to say that I won’t ask you to take the video down, I will ask that you don’t do it again, please. WHEN FRANK CLARK PLAYS SUNDAY NIGHT | FRANK & CHRIS JONES……SHOULD FEST ON RAVENS QB.

What I want to see is the rest of the ineffective Chiefs pass rushers get sacks, as well. Re-read below in BOLD, 2019 fourth rounder (Maxx Crosby) FESTED on Alejandro……ZERO point ZERO ZERO excuses for Dana, Okafor, this week. GET SACKSSSS!!!!

The debut of the Baltimore Ravens‘ new-look offensive line did not go as planned, as the Ravens allowed pressure on Lamar Jackson on 54.5% of their plays against the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night, per Next Gen Stats
.
Free agent signing Alejandro Villanueva severely disappointed against the Raiders, getting repeatedly beat by 2019 fourth-rounder Maxx Crosby. His poor play drew the ire of Ravens fans on social media, with many calling for a change at right tackle.

This is a Player that would 100% help Chiefs at WR!!  Andy & his staff would be able to keep his AZZ on the straight path.

The NFL might get another reunion with wide receiver Josh Gordon for what feels like the 100th time. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Josh Gordon has completed his treatment program and just needs to be reinstated.
.
Gordon’s career has been a story. Once a star on the Cleveland Browns, he has since been suspended by the NFL six separate times since 2013 and has bounced around quite a bit. He went to the Seattle Seahawks, the New England Patriots, and was then with the FCF league that also featured Johnny Manziel.
