Forever linked to the 1969 Super Bowl team, Jim Lynch died today. He was 76. He and Willie Lanier roomed together on the road, and were the first Black/White roommates in professional football. If you get the chance, watch the 1969 America’s Game. He was a remarkable man.

Thank you for the football and humanity, Mr Lynch
Just because you can’t hear this enough, and goodnight
thank you
Good call.
On to more pleasant things, such as science.
Run, Hawley, Run!

Stop Hawley, stop! (He’s one of those dicks who never should have been elected, and while that category sprawls widely across the aisle, he’s particularly notable. Same goes for Devin Nunes, who stopped at nothing to try to unmask a satirical cow account on Twitter that pissed him off.
I can think of several Dems who are about as bad as them, but I’ll leave picking them out to the audience. If they don’t, it’ll be because they don’t want to look.
Yes, yes, yes. Some Dems are bad. Very bad.
Now, which ones riled up a crowd outside the Capitol? Which ones made lame-assed excuses for the rioters?
Stop excusing this by pointing out the other side is bad. No one is saying they don’t have problems.
If you’d just left your comment at the break, it’d stand on its own. Then you had to give them cover. Why?
I did not give them this “cover” you claim, I was pointing out that while the political conversations have been so hyper-focused on Republicans evil, y’all have been giving cover to the ongoing misdeeds of current Democrats. I’m serious, your dismissive tone toward my concerns about things that are happening right now as opposed to something that happened in the past speaks volumes, at least to me.
Unfortunately, I expect that this reply is more likely to piss you off than make you think, so I’m dropping it here. Say what you will, if you must, but you’ll be talking to others.
*in the past does not ameliorate the damage, ignoring it does
by your logic current events become less important, given time
and yes I am hyper focused because the discussion is going down now, not going to ignore it
Sorry. Reading this or not, you gave them cover by adding in the “what about clause”. Oh, that’s bad alright, but what about…
I’m not sure how you get this is the past. The hearings are going on now. That pulls this back into the now. Do you feel treason isn’t with our time? Do you have a time limit on how long after something happens that we can care? I’m not ignoring your concerns for current injustices. I am very capable of staying focused on two things at once.
I don’t know what “volumes” I’m saying, but I’ll narrow down what I think I’m saying: if you are concerned about something that is happening that you don’t think is being discussed enough, discuss it. But give it its own thread. Otherwise, you are engaging in diversion tactics, taking away from the subject at hand, and I don’t believe that’s what you mean to do.
worst. take. out. reel. ever
we love you

You know what I’d really like to see is the guys eating at training camp, like to get a close up of all the different foods on the buffet and see the boys chow after a good practice. Is that doable?
I’ve seen it in the past, whole spread with every option informed by team trainers/nutritionists.

derilction of duty
I could have been given an article 15 for failing to do my duty
just being an AB as a door guard at Lackland AFB in basic training
The President of the USA is also the General in charge basically of the US military
The General of the Joint Chiefs is his chain of command
No American President has failed to do his duty to protect America
till January 6
inaction is not an option at some point
but your honor, my client has no sense of duty.
we were schmuks
hey, I liked the guy as a guest on Stern. Fighting tabloid writers, rating women, being a buffoon.
not qualities for a chief exec.
They were schumks
I served in the miltary
he called us schmuks for possibly fighting and dying for the USA
Yes he did, and this is possibly the MOST amazing thing about his cult. He disrespects them to their faces and they love him
He’s Homelander
Just finished season 3, and he wants to be
they’ve done a good job of showing it was intentional and planned.
During his entire presidency we were told we had “trump derangement syndrome”. People would come here and ridicule us.Tell us it was all in our heads how much of a threat this guy was. Honestly didn’t think he’d push it as far as he did. Bottom line, those of us that expressed our outrage over this a…… were right.
yeah, “mean tweets!”
I could give a fuck about that, they were but a symptom.
I am sorry
He was never honorable enough to serve as US President for me
I voted against Bill Clinton after monica
lying about pussy is as old as the hills
I expect better, I am usually disappointed
lack of honor is in the top 5 reasons he never should had even been a candidate, for sure.
Saw a bumper sticker the other day, “mean tweets 2024”. I was like…
To be fair, many were taking the stance that he wasn’t doing anything that all the other politicians weren’t. They are just better at covering their asses. Everyone one of them fuckers in Washington are corrupt and everyone of them covers shit up regularly
we need term limits
Yes we do. The problem is, how does that happen? We have one vote, that’s the only power we have over these people.
we use what power we have
We have to start talking about it all the time so that the idea spreads among the masses. We have to pose the question to our government leaders regularly so they can’t simply ignore it. If it’s a big enough issue, it will be hard for the government to ignore. Case in point abortion. They tried to ignore the issue for decades, but now it’s a raging inferno on both sides of the argument that no one can pretend isn’t important to the people
CRT!!!
Agree. Tried to give him the benefit of the doubt at the beginning. Helsinki made me realize he was unfit.
What was ol’ Fivehead doing at Arrowhead?
On Reddit they were guessing maybe doing something for his show.
peytonville legos?
well I don’t know about any of you
but I want to know what was happening in the white house
I was installing a store on Jan 6, When I heard what was happening I drove for like an hour and a half cause I had no idea what would happen next
Because the government is supposed to serve the will of the people, there really is nothing they should be allowed to hide from us
We the People
That’s both legally true and impractical, to the point that we wouldn’t have a functional gov’t. I’m all for greater transparency than we’re getting (the secrecy that PDs and other LE orgs guard so jealously is appalling, just f’rex), but some things have to remain at Need To Know level and above.
It all comes out in the wash
I understand that, you can never have 100% transparency, but this isn’t top secret military plans, this I’d information about potential criminal wrong doing and that should not be allowed to be covered up without consequences. On any other given day you can argue we don’t have a need to know that info. But now that there’s reason to believe there might be something wrong going on were the people have every need to know. And it’s not like they are releasing everything straight to the public. It’s to our elected representatives who have the same clearances the Secret Service. They can go through the information and release to us anything that is relevant, while protecting any sensitive information about the Secret Service. Nixon wasn’t allowed to hide watergate. Trump and these guys shouldn’t be allowed to hide this
fair enough, but records being deleted after notice to preserve?
If that can be proven, then it’s a crime.
However, that’s not exactly new behavior. Remember all the California PDs who purged their records when a new transparency law was about to take effect? It’s almost certain that a percentage of those records were illegally destroyed, and this also occurred in MN. After George Floyd was murdered, cops statewide, especially the HiPo, deleted texts on their official phones, and those are barely the beginning.
Nice you finally noticed, though.
I’ve been aware.
This is Sec Svc not a PD.
PDs break laws all the time with immunity
You’re right, the Secret Service has considerably more leeway and protection than the police, FBI, etc. Do you think that the outcome of that culture appeared out of nowhere, just because a loose cannon had become the man it was their job to protect?
no. I do think it odd that a head of detail took a leave of absence to work in the WH staff w/o retiring from SSS
Then we clearly need to start at the top and show that this isn’t acceptable, don’t we?
How, “off with their heads!”? There’s another principle in play here, though, ‘unusual cases are bad bases for laws’, and another in ‘making a law during a crisis (i.e. rushed through) often leads to bad outcomes’. Of course, we could go for the trifecta, since ‘a law named after someone is a bad law until proven otherwise’.
None of those are my own sayings, I’ve picked them up from lawyers, in particular a crotchety old Democratic defense lawyer. He also taught me a fallacious syllogism:
Something must be done
This is something
This must be done
it’s been an unaddressed issue for decades because no one belived it could happen….it seems to have happened
So your solution is to do….nothing? No one is saying make a law. How about holding them to the current law, which I’m fairly sure that destroying what you were told to preserve is in violation of.
Or :
This was Done
It was a Fluke
Let’s not protect ourselves from it ever happening again … : (
Whew … ” You’ve really seem to have a bad case of ” Whataboutism ” … Throw in some “White Grief ” & a lil’ more ” Conspiracy Theory ” & get a free MAGA hat … ; )
Watched the entire day at my office. From the rally till trump called off his dogs. It was like 9/11 all over again. Except this time it was Americans attacking us. And it’s not over.
exactly
It felt like 911 all over again
remember watching 9/11 on a 8″ BW tv.
a Tuesday
it was the same feeling
watched it happen live, multiple outlets, it is not time to move on…unless that means indictments.
trump will never be indicted
prob not, looks like GA gonna try
whole laundry list of others eligible, though.
So an entire law enforcement agency has lawyered up? Do not remember hearing of anything like this. Maybe the “deep state” is a real thing. It’s just not who was being accused of it. It’s the accusers.
I’m all honesty, and not to start a fight, but I’m seriously curious what our trump supporting friends think about this.
they think Biden did it
HUNTER Biden, to be specific
but copies of his hard drive altered months later…..
unless it changes their support idgaf
That’s why I’m curious. Do they realize how fucked up this is regardless of your political leaning, or do they have some twisted logic excusing these actions?
not interested
To each their own. But you can never reach your enemy if you don’t understand them
true, but if you understand it’s nonsense (which it is) how do you convince otherwise. factual/logical falacies held as beliefs will not be moved.
True. But you’ll miss 100% of shots you don’t take
Wayne!
can you aim the puck at the head?
I read something that said that all this was actually eroding his support at the fringes, which honestly is the only place that it might happen.
The core, the ones who still fly his flag as if he’s their country, nothing is going to change them. The ones who can’t have a discussion without adding “leftist” aren’t going to accept that regardless of party, this shit is wrong.
I get that. There will always be crazy people that believe crazy. That will never change. I was curious about our AG members that have defended him up until that point. I really wanted to see what they were thinking on this. I accepted that they might still think this is all made up slander to force the US down a “leftist dystopia”, but I wanted to hear that from them, not assume that they were unreachable
well, you put out the invite…..there is no defense other than “it was fine if he got away with it…
I’ll watch this space
a certain someone’s head is about to explode, or biding time until claiming they weren’t really supporters.
I’d very surprised by a real flip.
If there is a response, I’d expect some argument about a subject no one is asking about and a refusal to address the one people are.
But that’s just from past experience
I took that as a given 🙂
I don’t even know where to go with this.
They are there to protect the Big Man at all costs. I get that. That doesn’t include destroying evidence they were told to preserve.
Protect and protect. Keep him from harm while he serves the well of the people, yes. Protect him from the people he failed to serve properly, no.
well no. His personal security is the paramount function, regardless of the nature of the threat.
that’s why they are supposed to be apolitical.
like Egyptian Eunuchs
Yeah, that’s a fail
so rinestone boots and worn out pants, see they aren’t even buttoned?
and they’re worn out at the knees!

I love the sounds of nature, Fishing without actually fishing is great
a balmy 113 degrees today
where are they going to build that new A’s Stadium at?
seems MLB wants to expand and youse guys are holding up the show…..
they’re staying in oakland
awesome maybe Tampa Bay is coming to LV
MLB last expanded in 1998, when the (Devil) Rays and Diamondbacks joined the league. We are currently in MLB’s longest expansion drought since the league first expanded in 1961. There are no shortage of viable expansion cities (Charlotte, Montreal, Nashville, Portland, Las Vegas, etc.) or prospective owners. Owning an MLB team is very lucrative and many people want in.
The biggest issue standing in the way of expansion is the Athletics and Rays, specifically their ballpark situations. Manfred has said those two clubs need new stadiums before MLB can consider expanding. Part of that is leverage — MLB wants to continue using Las Vegas as a relocation option as Oakland seeks a new park in the Bay Area, for example — and part of it is just doing what’s right.
there is less humidity than Florida 🙂
and Yankee fans
Yankee fans suck. Boston fans a close second.
