Sunday O/T: Afternoon To Afternight

If you like lazing on a Sunday afternoon or prefer the evening for your conversations, these OTs are here for your convenience.

It will be Sunday for y’all but for me it’s still Saturday night. so a bit more science to add.

I kinda thought this one might be worth sharing, in a vague sort of way, but after listening I wanted to do it. She’s no hater, and while she doesn’t quite put it that way she can feel that sometimes the artistry is in doing more with less rather than trying to do everything perfectly. History is thick with examples.

I have provided a couple conversation-starters and will almost certainly drop a couple more. I’m not asking for a thing, go enjoy life, but I look forward to when the rest of y’all return. Until then I will try to leave the lights on for ya. For those of us who remain, what shall we talk about?

With that, time’s yours.

Campfires, that’s what’s up.
How do you post pics from phone?

You have to host them somewhere else (like imgur) and then copy the link.

All enemies. Foreign and domestic. I hear you brother. But while anger brings attention, cool heads are needed for a solution

I’ve been reading your posts, can’t disagree. All of this insanity is getting exhausting, trying to lay low. Remember (and I hope this remains true), “Americans will exhaust all possibilities before doing the right thing”.

Don’t look now, but I’m doing a film review post. Move over Mr. Harms, AG has a new film guru in the house!

And it’s done. I spent $10 on gif making software (the free one I had before made the files too big to load to Twitter), so everybody better rate it 5 stars.

I watched Ford Vs Ferrari a few weeks ago and remembered the review you did of it.

The first 25 minutes of the movie was one of the worst written, biggest piles of steaming shit I’ve ever seen. I don;t understand how something that bad makes it that far.

It was a non-stop onslaught of horribly written, obvious Hollywood cliches, with no other purpose than to lazily set up the rest of the movie. It like someone wrote the whole movie, except for the first 15 minutes, but then totally gave up and couldn’t be bothered, and just paid some random dude $50 to write the first 25 minutes.

Yep, that’s what I thought too. But the last part is so good, it’s like they suddenly switched writers halfway through.

I thought the rest of the movie was fine, but nothing spectacular.

The breaking point for me was when they did the Hollywood cliche – that happens all the time in movies, but I doubt that it has ever happened in real life – when the wife does the; walk up behind the husband and talk expertly about something pretending to be a stranger, he tells her how impressive she is and turns around, then they look right at each other and start talking sexily to each other until they kiss, and one of them says something like “I’d do xxx, right now if you we’re my husband/wife”. I would have switched the movie off right then, but I had committed to watching it since I’m trying to get through the full imdb top 250 list.

It’s in the top 250? If it was just the chase part I could see it, but altogether it was a very average movie.

In the last 5 or so years the top 250 has gotten diluted with some pretty average to bad movies. Apparently it mostly started with The Dark Knight fans forcing that top number 1. There’s always shitty new blockbuster movies that get in there, and within a year or 2 drop out.

It’s gotten flooded with some really bad Indian movies in the last few years too.

The Dark Knight at least deserves to be on the list. But that’s what I figured, the top 250 is only accurate for older movies.

The violent actions of the police are not justified. The violent actions of the rioters are not justified. Both of these statements can be true. You don’t need to add the “yeah, well” qualifier when people call out the rioters.

You completely missed the point here. The protester that killed a police officer in Oakland did not suddenly make the misdeeds that the police are performing in Minneapolis right. The same works in reverse. Misdeeds by certain officers do not in any way justify the actions of the violent individuals who were beating people in the street. Make no mistake, this is not an outlier. There have been roving gangs looking to start trouble and violence in the street. I am just sick of people standing up for horrific things because lines have been drawn in the sand. You don’t have to justify evil with evil. Neither side has been worse than the other in my mind. Both are evil and causing chaos for innocent people just trying to live their lives.

Sorry if I come across as ranting, but this sort of thing hits close to home for me and it gets me fired up.
