Good morning AG! Not much else to say…
Way-too-early 53-man roster projection for Chiefs | usatoday
Obviously, rookies have yet to take a snap with the team and some haven’t even been assigned jersey numbers. There’s a lot to be determined between now and when the Chiefs trim their roster down to 53 players later this summer. The next several months will tell the tale of who makes the squad as players get prepared for 2022 during the course of the offseason training program.
With that in mind, here are our way-too-early projections for the 53-man roster in Kansas City:
Why the Kansas City Chiefs traded up to draft cornerback Trent McDuffie | espn
The Chiefs, who entered the draft with the 29th and 30th picks in the first round, didn’t bother with one of their favorite cornerbacks, Trent McDuffie of Washington. They figured he would be selected too early for them to have a realistic chance of trading up to draft him.
The Chiefs then had to scramble as McDuffie fell into their range. They wound up sending three draft picks — No. 29, No. 94 and No. 121 — to the New England Patriots for the right to move up to No. 21 and select McDuffie.
Chiefs DB Bryan Cook ready to show his versatility in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense | usatoday
“I think, for me, it’s not going to change, I just do what I do,” Cook told reporters. “I’m very versatile, so I’m just able to work and make it my own. That’s something that’s not going to change. You’re going to get the same player you saw in college, now will learn certain things – different level, different speed. The energy and the style of play definitely won’t change. It took me this far, so why change it up?”

The New Orleans Saints are signing veteran safety Tyrann Mathieu, according to a report Monday morning by Ian Rapoport. The move was expected, as reports from this past weekend’s NFL Draft indicated that New Orleans was making an aggressive push to sign the coveted free agent following an April visit.
How athletic is Chiefs’ 2022 NFL draft class? | usatoday
Kent Lee Platte, also known as MathBomb on Twitter, the creator of Relative Athletic Score (RAS) has the Chiefs landing one of the most athletic classes in this draft. RAS is a composite grade given to players based on their official athletic testing scores ahead of the draft. The RAS average for the Chiefs’ 2022 draft class sits at 8.68, which is considered above the “elite” range. It comes in at No. 6 in the NFL behind the Falcons, Saints, Eagles, Lions and Colts.
2022 NFL Draft team-by-team grades: Lions, Ravens, Chiefs among seven in ‘A’ range, Jaguars at bottom of class | cbs
Brett Veach had his best draft as Chiefs GM, although the trade up for Trent McDuffie was an overpayment for a corner who doesn’t fit the scheme and has minimal upside. Skyy Moore in Round 2 was as good as Kansas City barbecue, and the two seventh-round picks, Isaih Pecheco and Nazeeh Johnson, will make the team and produce early. Leo Chenal is a throwback linebacker who’s an inexperienced coverage type. Joshua Williams could eventually be better than McDuffie. Grade: A-
Chiefs Sign ‘First-Round Talent’ WR After Falling Out of Draft | si.com
With the 2022 NFL Draft in the rearview mirror, the Kansas City Chiefs are busy signing undrafted free agents (UDFAs) and inviting players to their upcoming rookie minicamp. They just landed a major signing that transcends traditional UDFA expectations, though. Per reporter Jordan Schultz, the team is signing former Clemson wide receiver Justyn Ross to its 90-man roster.

Just like that, the long-awaited NFL draft weekend has ended, but the rookie class isn’t complete. The Kansas City Chiefs selected a total of 10 players this April and now general manager Brett Veach will add to that group in free agency.
Jesse Newell to cover Kansas City Chiefs beat for The Star. Here’s a bit more about him | yahoo

The Kansas City Star has promoted award-winning sports journalist Jesse Newell to cover the Kansas City Chiefs.
Newell will bring the eye for analysis that he’s employed on the Kansas Jayhawks beat to coverage of KC’s NFL team alongside fellow Chiefs beat writer Herbie Teope for The Star and its sister publication, The Eagle in Wichita.
I wonder which team(s) the Chiefs thought was going to draft McDuffie before #21, and then didn’t.
My guess is they wanted to jump Buffalo, who jumped and grabbed a CB right after us
So I’ve been glossing over the draft stuff and KC news in general. I got a STH email from the Chiefs still promoting buying extra tickets the the “home opener week 2” . I’d had a previous email with the presale info but I guess it didn’t say, or I missed, the week 2 part. So we open the season as an away game it would seem.
So we open away, the immediately play a Thursday night game? They do hate us. At least we’re at home for that.
Contributing (late) to yesterday’s hip-hop thread:
thanks, Hoosier, good stuff …
meanwhile, back at the ranch: the NFL Power Rankings (from NFL dot COM) and KC is #9 (say what?!?) in terms of Draft Improvement Grade (or whatever)… not that it matters, since the only “grade” that counts is the number of W’s at then end of the season

FUCK PUTIN!
that is all …
It appears all they care about is the wide receiver position….
Yet green bay is ahead of them?
Ever moving in trends, the NFL is all about WRs and the passing game. Meanwhile, the Chiefs bring in a bunch of DBs to defend against the passing game and get ahead of the trend.
Looking at those rankings is interesting. First off the NFC sucks big fat hairy donkey balls. Their top 4 NFC teams (ranked ahead of the chiefs, eyeroll) are the Rams, the Bucs, the niners, and the Packers. I think the Rams and Bucs might make the playoffs by default. The niners who have a qb controversy and a disgruntled wr will finish with 6 wins. And once again Aaron Rodgers will be king of the nfc but lose in the playoffs.
In the afc after the bills, chiefs, Benguls, and chargers its pretty slim pickings. Do you go with the proven qb, Wilson, who hasn’t made the playoffs in 6 years on a new team or the unproven qb with a bunch of toys, Tua, or belicheat?
no arguments, but the rankings are for “most improved via draft” … I’d likely put the Chiefs a bit higher as my thinking is the team improved the Defense by a wide margin (at least, I hope so!)
Poetry book update – I’m running into an issue how to self publish on Lulu, where the money comes in hopefully directly to the charity and not to me. I don’t want to be taxed for anything here. (I’d prefer to not handle the money at all). Complication in the process.
Lulu!
And what someone might know her for… No idea she’s Scottish. Doesn’t sound a thing like Sean Connery.
Tip of the Week : ” Never Let Sean Connery Teach Your Dog To Sit ” … ; )
Another full news day , keep‘em coming Hoosier…enjoy your day AG.
The CBS draft grades article blurb was really odd. Hated our 1st pick but gave us an A. Then I clicked on it. Chiefs hater Pricko graded the just 1st round picks.
You have to take Pete with a grain of salt. He doesn’t like Duffs height and thinks that limits his ceiling as a pro.
If Pete was such a good talent evaluator, you would have thought some team would make him their GM. But no…
I think the Raiders tried that once.
I don’t even consider him that small for a corner. Slightly below average. Pricko hates the chiefs and would have shit on us no matter who we picked.
He was right about Mahomes being the best QB in the draft in 2017
a little something to get you moving today….
until just now, I had no idea that Lulu did a cover of “Shout” …
