Today in Chiefs history … screw that … YESTERDAY in Chiefs History you already know what happened: KC won it all (again!) and Mahomes was named the MVP of the game, to go with his MVP of the season, after leading the team to (what many thought would be an improbable) 2nd-Half Comeback Victory (prior to yesterday, teams that trailed at halftime by 10 points or more were 1-26, but none of those teams had Mahomes)
Super Bowl 2023: Patrick Mahomes comes up clutch, Chiefs come back to beat the Eagles | yahoo!sports
Patrick Mahomes barely made it off the field after he was tackled in the second quarter.
It was a reminder Mahomes was playing Super Bowl LVII with a high ankle sprain. He was tackled on a third down and stayed down for a while. He limped off, slowly. Trainers looked at him on the sideline while he writhed in pain.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes named Super Bowl LVII MVP | Chiefs Wire
The Chiefs were in danger of falling way behind in the first half, worse than the 24-14 it ended up being at halftime. But Nick Bolton did what he’s done all year.
The Chiefs linebacker made one of the biggest plays of Super Bowl LVII.

Did Eagles get robbed with late Super Bowl penalty? Not if you ask the man who committed it | USA Today
A late Philadelphia Eagles penalty sent fans and social media into a frenzy, lamenting the referees and accusing the NFL of rigging Super Bowl 57.
But the player called for holding, cornerback James Bradberry, said afterward it was the correct call.
“It was a holding,” Bradberry told reporters in the locker room after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs. “I tugged his jersey. I was hoping they would let it slide.”

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Victory Parade scheduled for Wednesday, weather permitting | KMBC 9 News
Sunday night was legacy stuff for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, now a two-time Super Bowl champion (with two fourth-quarter comebacks!) and a two-time MVP before his 28th birthday. The breathtaking, superstar quarterback is on a Mount Rushmore track, and what he did in Super Bowl LVII means we need to start looking for the chisels.
NEWS: LSU has finalized a deal to hire Ed Orgeron on Lane Kiffin’s staff, Orgeron’s agent Tzvi Grossman tells ESPN. Orgeron returns to LSU, which he led to the 2019 national title as head coach. Orgeron has a decades-long relationship with Kiffin.
Quarterback Fernando Mendoza has already made a strong impression during his first month with the Las Vegas Raiders, with coach Klint Kubiak saying the No. 1 pick has been “as advertised.”

Who are you happy for? Other than yourself.
Thornhill. Hurt late in the year for the 1st one, did not play.
Henne. I know it says “2X” winner, but I don’t think he really had much to do with the first one, being hurt.
Dunlop. 13 years playing hard. Finally gets one.
I wish CEH could have at least suited up, but I’m sure they had their reasons, and winning makes my less likely to question them.
Andy. No one will ever try to downplay that first one again. He is a LOCK for the Hall, now, and it best be unanimous.
Question for KC locals:
The Commemorative Edition for the SB that is out today.. has anyone seen it for sale someplace? Stores? HyVee, etc? I’d love to get one
I asked the same thing earlier. All last night, from the trophy on (screw you , Terry. It’s not like you’re a slip of a girl, yourself), he was without them. I wondered if he could see anyone.
That’s my guess. I kept looking for a cut or scratch on his face. Thankfully nothing. I can’t believe that there isn’t somebody in charge of “Andy’s spare glasses”, though
Notable streaks snapped last night by Patrick Mahomes/Chiefs:
– Previous 9 MVPs to reach Super Bowl had all lost
– Previous 6 individual pass yds leaders to reach Super Bowl had all lost
– Previous 8 teams to win coin toss at Super Bowl had all lost
Two years ago, when the Chiefs lost to the Bucs, Terez told Brett Veach he’d someday write about how the Chiefs’ next Super Bowl title began with that loss.
Overlooked stat: Since 2019, the Chiefs are – wait for it – 5-0 when their end zone is gold.
Other overlooked stat: Khalen Saunders’s chasing of Jalen Hurts out of bounds was what sparked the change in momentum that enabled the comeback, and was probably the play of the game. Not flashy, but it provided the spark that was needed.
So should Tyreek get a ring, since we probably wouldn’t have won this without him wanting more money, resulting in the trade which brought us so many great additions. Asking for a friend. ;)

Chiefs need to win it all next year for it to be a dynasty. My definition of a dynasty is winning at least three championships in a span in which all other teams combined didn’t win that many. So three championships in five years is a dynasty. So is four of seven and five of nine
Patrick Mahomes on Monday: “As long as Andy Reid is coaching us we’ll always have a chance. I’ll try to keep the big guy around a couple of years at least and we’ll try to be back in this game as many times as possible.”
Super Bowl 2023: Next Patriots? As Chiefs build dynasty, everyone starts rooting against them
”The first year, you’d say they want you to win,” Chiefs safety Juan Thornhill said. “But if you continue to make it to the Super Bowl, people get tired of seeing you there. They want to see a new team. So everyone is rooting against us now. That’s fine with us.” The Chiefs haven’t gone full Patriots yet. They aren’t completely hated. They’d probably need a cheating scandal for that. But if they keep winning, more fans will be rooting for anyone else to take their place.
He’s 2.5 sacks from the Post season record. Might be worth it to him. Hope so. As much grief as SOME people give him around here, he is $$$ in the playoffs

it will be, I guarantee it
Hey. White jerseys won again.
As do the gold end zones

I’ll look later and let you know.
Thank you. They want $10 online. Less, I’ll take one. Same price, it isn’t worth asking you to mess with it to save $2 on shipping.
Not till tomorrow.
That’s fine

what happened to Andy Reid’s glasses? did someone draw a mustache on them?
I asked the same thing earlier. All last night, from the trophy on (screw you , Terry. It’s not like you’re a slip of a girl, yourself), he was without them. I wondered if he could see anyone.
I wonder if they got broke in all the excitement.
That’s my guess. I kept looking for a cut or scratch on his face. Thankfully nothing. I can’t believe that there isn’t somebody in charge of “Andy’s spare glasses”, though
Next SB is in our stadium! Forgot about that. We could win as the home team.
Arrowhead West! How sweet that would be.
Keep this man. Except for the color, that’s Championship Swagger!
Oldie (circa 1970) but goodie, and relevant:
“Super Bowl World Champion… Kansas City Chiefs!”
Jesus.
$10 for a copy of todays KCStar. Fair, considering.
$8 to ship a newspaper.
Thinking twice…
maybe someone here that’s local can get one for you
If anyone wants to offer that up, I’ll PP the money to cover everything. Can’t think the actual paper on the street is more than $5.
Anyone?
Where would you find one?
I believe what you are talking about is the Special Edition
Subscribers didn’t receive one
They aren’t on newsstands? (Do those exist anymore?) Stores don’t have them?
You might be right. Maybe it is only online.
If you can find them I’ll get you one
Thank you for the offer. I’ll see if I can figure out where they might be. I’ll make a separate thread about it.

Mahomes just said “we had a little messup” with the formation on the Skyy TD
It sounds like he said Moore should have been on the other side of the field?
pretty hard for the defense to figure out what we are doing when we don’t even know!
That’s how I go through life, keep everyone confused is my motto.
Now I’m confused. dang, you’re good.
I do the same. And since I don’t know what I’m doing most of the time, “everyone” here means everyone.
I think PM15 is saying that Moore should have motioned over from the other side of the ball into the out route he eventually ran anyway.

This is why I keep crying for GOLD ENDZONES for every last playoff game at home.

“The only thing that will take a hit is my golf game.”

A replica, since we had to replicate his production

Pay cut or just CUT from team:
Frank Clark – $30m cap hit in 2023
hopefully, he’ll restructure & stay with Chiefs.
or be cut from Chiefs
It will be one or the other how badly does Clark want another Super Bowl?
He’s 2.5 sacks from the Post season record. Might be worth it to him. Hope so. As much grief as SOME people give him around here, he is $$$ in the playoffs
5 sack frank was better this year. I kid.
He’s still not a dominate edge rusher but if karlaftis can develop a little bit more he can be our Ingram, dunlap, etc
Sounds good to me
He earns his money in the playoffs
I look for us to draft another D lineman in the 1st this year
