“We take the protocols very seriously,” Antonetti added. “We’ve all banded together and talked about the importance of watching out for one another and making sure that we did our best to minimize risk. And Zach’s behavior, unfortunately, wasn’t consistent with that. So our players spent some time talking through their thoughts and feelings, and that’s feedback we’ll get here over the next day or two and factor that into what our next steps might be.”
These are the first known instances of players being punished for violating the league’s health and safety protocols. According to the CDC, the incubation period for COVID-19 can extend up to 14 days, with an average length of four-to-five days from the time from exposure to development of symptoms.
“We love Zach,” righty Shane Bieber told reporters, including Bell. “We support him. But he screwed up. We’re gonna handle this in-house. I think what we kind of talked about as a team is we need to focus on one thing at a time, and that was the game. And so I’m proud of the guys for being able to handle one thing at a time and going out there and getting the win. But like I said, we’re gonna handle this in-house and we’re going to see where it goes from here.”

Seems the Cleveland Indians have the 1st case of players disreqarding protocol?

From a competitive standpoint, I can’t imagine the Cardinals would be excited about this, but there are 29 other teams to consider here. It’s an unfortunate situation, which means they’d have to accept the unfortunate solution. Hey, maybe they’ll even find a few gems who haven’t yet gotten a shot at the majors.
I’m sure Cardinals’ ownership group wouldn’t love this due to the salary increases, but they can wear it. They have plenty of money. I should note that it seems unlikely that Manfred — he’s generally on the owners’ “side” of things — or other owners would support this, knowing that this might happen with their teams.
I don’t care, though.
This is my choice. MLB should immediately send the Cardinals taxi squad to Pittsburgh to play the Pirates series as scheduled and put the Tigers doubleheader back on. It’s a crazy season anyway, this will just add more craziness. We just can’t have one team shut down for as long as the Cardinals will be.

Yep, winning for the Party is what matters most, qualifications be damned.

Which is a huge part of the problem and has been for a while. And I keep hearing that it’s essential for me to vote Dem because crisis. Same sort of shit as the last time, when Hillary was the existential threat. And in my view she was a threat, but that still didn’t make me waste my vote on a broken system that will never be fixed with the current two in charge.

I’m not going to waste my vote this time, either. Jorgensen looks better-qualified and better suited for the Oval Office. “But she can’t win!” Not when the masses are obsessed with electing an evil because Party.

Millions of people every cycle vote for the non-winning candidate. I choose to invest my vote in a better class of non-winning candidate rather than wasting it on supporting a broken system, lose or win.

Either way, between the the DNC and RNC, whoever wins we all lose.

Jo Jorgensen is not Sam Bozo, she’s the best candidate of the three that I’m aware of.

Calling her names because she’s not a part of your favorite party won’t make Biden anything more than yet another round of the lesser of two evils.

I’d rather vote for something good than go around telling folks that any vote not cast for one or the other corrupt Partys is wasted, don’t do it. Support the system and hope things stop getting worse, or you’re you’re a moron.

No. That’s the mentality that ensures things will keep getting worse. That’s the mentality which keeps them in power. It’s the party partisans who are wasting the votes and demanding everyone play that game, deriding any view that doesn’t line up with that system.

A vote for a corrupt pair of partys is the truly wasted vote. I want actual improvement, not political theater.

Trump was elected specifically because of his political inexperience, it gave the illusion that covered for his central electoral appeal as an “outsider” candidate. His wealth and the assumed business acumen was seen as a proxy for executive competency.

The appeal of a Biden candidacy is a “return to normalcy”, a shop worn establishment candidate. But that’s also why the VP choice is so important here since everyone knows Biden’s cognitive health is unlikely to get much better over 4 years. Same can be said for Trump, though Biden being older it’s more apparent right now.

Interesting fact: if Biden wins the presidency he would be the first and almost certainly only member of the silent generation to do so. I kinda want him to win for just that reason.

IMO Trump’s election was due in no small part because of a voters’ rebellion. I mean, Clinton’s autocratic, corrupt and tone-deaf ways were well-known before the DNC coronated her as the candidate and the entire Left was patting themselves on the back for winning the election at that point. That pissed people off, as did the press gloating over the upcoming Clinton Presidency.

I mean, if you’d like to “explain” further: is it because she’s female? is it because she’s Black? is it because she’s pretty tall and you feel threatened? I’m pretty sure that neither of the Obamas have done anything to you PERSONALLY and yet here you are with what SEEMS to be a hateful comment … please correct me if I’m wrong

I agree with Sudden that she has basically no legislative experience, but considering her college education and degree, and considering that she spent a decent amount of time in somewhat close proximity to the office of the president, I’d say she could be “up to speed” pretty quickly

Indiana is a sneaky state. Not large, mostly farms. But there’s the industrial band from Chicago to Toledo. And Indianapolis which is a weird island in a sea of corn. And some industry near Cincinnati. And 80% of the country’s trailers are made there.

“we aren’t a true democracy”

Yet, anyway, though there are those who believe becoming a statistic and nothing more will cure all.

Unfortunately, we’re no longer really a republic, either, since the parties care nothing about representing the public in whichever area they “represent”. Party first, which means election first or the bad guys will take the spot. Unfortunately, in the representative sense, they’re all bad guys.

Never should have changed the primary system, and the press will defend the chaos at all cost, it’s a primary source of revenue. Controversy sells, so controversy there will be.

Republicanism is just a variant of democracy in common parlance. And it’s certainly not immune from the same inherently divisive characteristics as true democracy.

I understand the impulse to like democracy because I consider myself a populist. But in practice the legalistic nature of democratic institutions invites dominance by capital.

I’m hearing rumors that the Big 10 may cancel their season.

If they do, will the other conferences follow suit?

We must have 2020 painted black:

It takes two teams to have a game

what pisses me off

is that the St Louis Cardinals have a Covid outbreak and all their games are postponed

The Royals have many key players unavailable and the game gets played and counted as a Loss

I love that song, but Beasts of Burden is my favorite.
