“The turnaround in these three states has grabbed the attention of educators nationally, showing rapid progress is possible anywhere, even in areas that have struggled for decades with poverty and dismal literacy rates. The states have passed laws adopting similar reforms that emphasize phonics and early screenings for struggling kids.”

Amazing what happens when teachers actually have to understand how to teach a subject, and stick to it. Enough of the theories from university professors who don’t actually teach children how to read, they need to stop catering to that nonsense, and stick to what actually works.

Retaining 3rd graders as a policy if they are behind. Identifying learning disabilities early.

Retaining kids is expensive but kudos to them for making that a firm policy.

The strict focus on almost solely phonics I’m not as big a fan of. It should obviously be a big portion of a literacy curriculum but there’s more to reading than being able to sound out words.

Yeah but as my kid was going through school ( he is 23 now) they didnt even give a crap about if they spelled words correctly. Phonics is more than sounding out words and much more effective than the rubbish they taught my kid. No child left behind sounds great in theory but it isn’t always the best option

well that’s one way to look at it, the industrial revolution would have been slowed if children were barred from coal mine/textile plant opportunities…

Big fight between a parent and ref in Fort Wayne Indiana when one 7th grade basketball team lost to another 78-7. I think they need a 10 run rule in Indiana

Thuney, Kelce, Justin Reid, MVS. All have high base salaries in 2023. Any one could convert a little to bonus to give a little wiggle room.

The show features opening remarks from Roger Goodell, who does a great job making fun of himself. The show features a star-studded group of guest appearances, with Creed Humphrey, Eric Stonestreet, Tony Gonzalez, Chad Henne, and Patrick Mahomes all showing up to support the Kelce brothers.

Oh, dear. Doesn’t Patrick know that it’s his responsibility to control his brother’s life? I mean, isn’t that as obvious to him as it is all the sports fans out there telling him to take control of him, because it’s his duty to parent his adult brother?

Damn, Pat, quit shirking and completely control Jackson for the rest of your career, damn it!
