Monday Night Football O/T: Bears try to right the ship on their second MNF game

The last time the Bears were on Monday Night Football they were 5-1, but the football gods didn’t like the NFL forcing us to watch a Nick Foles-led team multiple times in a couple weeks and punished the Bears, making them now 5-4 and desperate for a win.

The Vikings on the other hand started 1-5 but have won two in a row to get to 3-5 and be a mere 2 games back of the wildcard spot with a win tonight, making them a contender for the team that the NFC East winner unjustly forced out of the playoffs.

Geez. A ZERO point performance from my TE Cook and then Robinson does nothing…after three weeks of nearly 20pts while on my bench. LOL

I can’t call you wrong, but he stepped into a pretty thankless situation there, if you think about it. Not even a minute where he has to find the groove? Brutal.

Just saw a commercial for a $30 “pace pen” and this came to mind:

I bought a seven-dollar pen because I always lose pens and I got sick of not caring.

biros=pens “The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is a very unevenly edited book and contains many passages that simply seemed to its editors like a good idea at the time. One of these (the one Arthur now came across) supposedly relates the experiences of one Veet Voojagig, a quiet young student at the University of Maximegalon, who pursued a brilliant academic career studying ancient philology, transformational ethics and the wave harmonic theory of historical perception, and then, after a night of drinking Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters with Zaphod Beeblebrox, became increasingly obsessed with the problem of what had happened to all the biros he’d bought over the past few years. There followed a long period of painstaking research during which he visited all the major centres of biro loss throughout the galaxy and eventually came up with a quaint little theory which quite caught the public imagination at the time. Somewhere in the cosmos, he said, along with all the planets inhabited by humanoids, reptiloids, fishoids, walking treeoids and superintelligent shades of the colour blue, there was also a planet entirely given over to biro life forms. And it was to this planet that unattended biros would make their way, slipping away quietly through wormholes in space to a world where they knew they could enjoy a uniquely biroid lifestyle, responding to highly biro-oriented stimuli, and generally leading the biro equivalent of the good life. And as theories go this was all very fine and pleasant until Veet Voojagig suddenly claimed to have found this planet, and to have worked there for a while driving a limousine for a family of cheap green retractables, whereupon he was taken away, locked up, wrote a book, and was finally sent into tax exile, which is the usual fate reserved for those who are determined to make a fool of themselves in public. When one day an expedition was sent to the spatial coordinates that Voojagig had claimed for this planet they discovered only a small asteroid inhabited by a solitary old man who claimed repeatedly that nothing was true, though he… Read more »

How many times did Von Miller drive Alex Smith into the ground without getting a flag? Not disagreeing but the refs protect the big names.

Murray is the best dual-threat quarterback in the NFL right now. He’s turning out to be worth every bit of the first-overall pick in 2019. His efforts are the biggest reason why the Cardinals are in a three-way tie with the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams atop the NFC West. With Russell Wilson faltering and turning the ball over a lot the past few weeks, Murray is gaining ground in the MVP race. Patrick Mahomes, whose Kansas City Chiefs were on a bye in Week 10, also belongs in that conversation. Murray, however, is stealing Mahomes’ spotlight as the NFL’s most exciting young quarterback to watch.

Murray is in the running. But naming a MVP at the halfway point is bound to make you look foolish. How many players have been the MVP so far this season?

I mentioned Kyler Murray earlier in the season. I like him way more than Lamar Jackson. I don’t think he is that far behind Mahomes or Rodgers in terms of value to his team.

for now. his running ability will be his downfall, but as small as he is he has to be able to run or he cant play at all. RG3 was mostly the same, first injury and he will never be the same guy

I don’t disagree, but he seems much smarter at avoiding contact than RG3 or Lamar. He reminds me of Randall Cunningham a bit.

I would never be allowed on a televised Crew mission. They are waiting patiently – whereas I would break into song, with that Boom-de-yadda.

Arms extended to each side, or fair catch wave I believe..but mostly the refs blow it dead if the returner isnt interested in it. They had that controversy in the dallas game where the returner didnt do the motion, but they still decided it was a dead ball after review.

I don’t think the returner has to do anything. I think once the ball touches the ground in the endzone it is blown dead. I saw a returner muff the catch and the ball went in the endzone and the refs stopped play immediately like a punt return.

The special teams needs more attention Andy?

Take Butker out of the evaluation (because that’s something that Toub can’t force a fix on, he, Winch, and Tommy just have to work it out.), so what does that leave? IMO that can mostly be accounted for by the rookies in the unit, who didn’t get much of a pre-season with their coach.

That can’t be waved off lightly, either. Blaming a coach for not coaching well enough when he’s been severely restricted on the coaching he could actually do is a good way to make the mistake of firing a good coach. Fortunately, I’m sure that everyone from Clark on down knows better than to go there.

but seriously we are getting burned on special teams in different ways this year

Punters passing for 1st downs and such

Like Townsend’s pass, you mean?

That said, if you take the kicking trio out of the evaluation, which you should, the odd, inconsistent ways that ST players are making mistakes should tell you if mistakes are uncommon but all over the place, it points right back to the truncated preseason.

There is no one thing they are consistently screwing up, so there are no trends to indicate Toub’s doing a poor job.
