Rough day for me mentally, but here y’all go:

With that, time’s yours.

I’d never heard of him until tonight, but the story of the religious zealot who pioneered a secular gov’t here is quite remarkable.

And one more:

This will prolly be taken as political, but it isn’t, it’s legal, a significant difference. Because of that, I’m going to Gertrude a bit, first. My views on the 2ndA are not an absolute “anything goes”, and the same applies to the 1st. There are traditional restrictions that make good sense, such as schools, places that are designed to draw crowds, and places where mass consumption of alcohol is the normal expectation, to name a few.
That said, even those who disliked the Bruen ruling should be horrified by New York’s response to it. That Conservative-dominated state immediately passed a law that made it effectively impossible to carry concealed legally. They paid no attention to the fact that crimes committed by those so licensed to do so when they are carrying concealed is practically a statistical unicorn, they were determined to disarm law-abiding people. If you stand with them, you are an enemy of the Constitution. I swore an oath relating to that, and I’m still serious about it. Anyway, I’ll quote the last two paragraphs, which sum up another injunction issued by another court, preventing this obvious scam from going into effect.
“[Judge] Sinatra said New York’s private property rule “appears to be a thinly disguised version” of a policy the Supreme Court explicitly rejected in Bruen. In that case, New York argued that “‘sensitive places’ where the government may lawfully disarm law-abiding citizens include all ‘places where people typically congregate and where law-enforcement and other public-safety professionals are presumptively available.'” The Court objected that “expanding the category of ‘sensitive places’ simply to all places of public congregation that are not isolated from law enforcement defines the category of ‘sensitive places’ far too broadly.”
Like Suddaby, Sinatra emphasizes the broad scope of New York’s private property rule. “The vast majority of land in New York is held privately, and it encompasses homes, farms, businesses, factories, vacant land, hotels, parking lots and garages, grocery stores, pharmacies, medical offices, hospitals, cemeteries, malls, sports and entertainment venues, and so on,” he writes. “These are places that people, exercising their rights, frequent every day when they move around outside their homes. The exclusion here makes all of these places presumptively off limits, backed up by the threat of prison. The Nation’s historical traditions have not countenanced such an incursion into the right to keep and bear arms across all varieties of private property.”

Then come at me, bro.
People walking around all day carrying guns is just fucking stupid.
If you are ok with limiting places you can carry, then what’s the problem?
New York argued that “‘sensitive places’ where the government may lawfully disarm law-abiding citizens include all ‘places where people typically congregate and where law-enforcement and other public-safety professionals are presumptively available.’”
That sounds a lot like “There are traditional restrictions that make good sense, such as schools, places that are designed to draw crowds, and places where mass consumption of alcohol is the normal expectation, to name a few.”
Sometimes I think you argue the 2nd just to practice typing.
speaking of VSP, back in a bit
Science!
I feel like I’m coming off as a real dick tonight, except for Pompano. He gets me, but he should also read David Drake’s Lacey and His Friends. They’re good stories, but Lacey exists in a surveillance-state dystopia. Anyway, I’m trying hard to not be dickish, and still spend time with y’all. Have a video.
we all feel your dick
…ishness
Yeah, but who feels my pain? I’ve been in a lot of pain today, and psychological pain is quite real. “It’s all in your head”? Correct, and it’s worse because of that. Physical pain can be treated, after all, but I’m on my own with this.
*thing is, you are not on your own.
not much I can do but be here, unless
I used alone in a different context. Doctors can do things to you that help ease pain/fix the source of it. Nobody can do that to my mind, so it’s DIY. And I’m no doctor.
*my point stands
*So does mine.
Is it pleasant? Not that it matters, since I’ve “earned the right to be an asshole and pervert”. 😉
asshole is requisite for the site IMO,
pervert is a sliding scale on multiple axes
My alignment’s Chaotic Random, so I think I’m in trouble.
now that’s specific porn!
Don’t “sir” me, you have no idea.
Or two, but the military history here’s nothing specific to our discussions. Metatron’s good at military history, and a bit more era-focused than me, but I know enough of his era to know his debunking is well-founded.
*yours should at least have music, even as satire
SIL gave me a nugget, get alittle high and Live Bullit time
Riddles?

I never noticed that
made more sense?
I’ve always been puzzled by human beings. We can be so nice, and then blow the crap out of each other.
I mean look at Ukraine. Nobody saw that coming and yet here we are.
orders are orders
I would not follow that order, but back in the day, My machines would have created and transferred and sent orders to send B-52;s with Nuclear weapons to wherever ordered.
I’m pretty well convinced that mankind will self-destruct. In the meantime, Go Chiefs!!!!
serves no one though
ending mankind is a defeat

Chiefs are going to kick some ass Sunday
i give 999yr O/U on humanity…
If we blow up before we heal things
I was watching the birth of human civilization
200 BC and we are killing each other for nothing
Someday
it well pre-dates that, now it’s too late to change species
200BCE? Warfare goes back much farther than that, my friend.
yes but actually by then we were organized
Tell it to the army of Sargon the Great. If they weren’t organized, with discipline and training, they wouldn’t have been an army, just a mob. Mobs are drastically inferior to trained troops, especially once they’ve been blooded. It’s a matter of cohesion, and they understood it quite well, even at the dawn of written history.
I apologize if this comes off as lecturing, but military history’s my field, and I’ve been learning about it since the ’70s. I know this stuff pretty well. Expert? Not really, but that’s for specialists, and I’m a generalist, taking interest in warfare regardless of the time frame.
semantics
bastad 😀
Well, I suppose, if you insist on calling a very successful army “disorganized”. But how many legs does a sheep have, if we call the tail a leg?
ummm……
no
How awful if the world had destroyed itself during Bay of Pigs in the 60s. We never would have gotten to see Mahomes. Senseless.
a lot of people predicted a move on UK
I didn’t hear anything before the build-up at the border. When they started that, I said we should send a division into UK. If we had gone in first, I doubt very seriously they would have invaded.
Biden warned Russia not to invade for weeks
When they started their build-up at the border.
yeah, that’s how it works
Pentagon was fully aware 2-3 months prior to netwok repoting.
I expect that the Ukraine was aware earlier than that, but for whatever reasons, couldn’t fully mobilize. Those who live next door to Russia pay close attention to them. Case in point:
and we could have stopped it in infancacy in 2016
Aborted the whole damned thing
The Rich got a huge tax break
the Supreme court got conservative
awesome
…always do…helps build generational. wealth
stimies human developement
by an inequitable distribution of global wealth?
yes
Capitalism isn’t the source of that. Look at the stark inequities in socialist economy nations. Forced equity on a mass scale also stymies progress, because you have to eliminate all hierarchies to do so.
Of course, not too long after that’s achieved, hierarchies will begin to reappear again anyway, and inequity will reappear. It’s human nature, and to manage that, we have to fully understand us, and good luck with that.
Meanwhile, we’ve gone a long way toward being a surveillance state here. I highly discourage getting a Ring camera, or anything similar, where the footage gets stored off-site. Once they have it, the need for a search warrant goes away, and anyone in the footage can be watched for potential infractions.
Of anything, not just illegal activities. Code violations? You bet, and given that police often use their job authority and access to data for personal reasons, it’s even worse.
right to privacy has been dead for 20 yrs now, we willingly ceded that as a society, now’s the find out part
never blamed cap. directly, the inequity would exist no matter, nature of the biz
Obama didn’t have strong EU support on Crimea (I maybe remember wrong), still would have only delayed
Trump
and his kleptocracy
Blaming it all on Trump is convenient, satisfying, and a damn good way to not think too hard about the actual problems in how it played out. Crimea was captured in 2014, and was part of Ukraine until then. Obama did nothing about it.
You can’t blame Trump for emboldening Putin, that was before his time. And you can’t lay all the blame on Obama, either, because Europe did nothing, as well. There’s likely a few thesis papers available in the study of that invasion, but US universities from on military history as a major. It’s culturally disliked and discouraged, and so we fail to learn those lessons. It isn’t compatible with Progressive thinking.
well that too…👍
some of us
most of us would not do that. EVER
it has always been fiction, possibly plausible…
cause a good ending is never pluasible?

Thanks for the videos today, Zulu.
how about the condensed version of last sundays game against chargers only 42 minutes for the whole game

Yeah, these are great watches.
Not golden, but I have a few pieces of selenite on the mantle.

Chiefs elevated S Zayne Anderson and WR Cornell Powell for Sunday’s game versus Rams. Both are special teams depth but also provide depth at positions where injuries remain an issue.
Haven’t watched, but I hope there’s no violence
It’s a story about a man and his dog.
I love dog stories. Most movies are just people shooting up everything in sight, with incredible body counts and maybe a few stabbings for fun. Keanu would never do stuff like that. That wouldn’t be an excellent adventure.
KC Chiefs -15.5 and the O/U is 42. The latest vegas odds.
My own personal line; Chances RoJo gets a carry 1 in a million!
That is a tricky over under.
Do we think the Rams will even score 10 with their injury issues?
If not, do you think Andy will keep being aggressive if we are up 3 scores?
I am going to predict
Chiefs 31
Rams 10
Chiefs 31-14
