Although I’m not a huge soccer person, this is definitely a VotW for everybody who lives in Kansas City. When you look at the list of cities that will also be hosting, Kansas City is a clear outlier in terms of size. This will be one of the biggest events in the city’s history.

just wanted to listen to it
a good faith argument requires, at a minimum. a belief in said, even w/o support.
An argument w/o support and with prevailing evidence against (even from within) is no longer in good faith…
Perhaps, but if so, that does not necessarily make the argument in bad faith. Misguided faith also exists.
Beware two-value thinking. That’s digital, but reality is analog, after all.
I have misguided faith?
I believe in a supreme being, does he involve himself in petty human crap?
All I know it’s his noodly appendages leave me smelling of tomato sauce
FSM
RUUUEELLSSS!!
R’amen my brother. Arrrggh!
I’m leaning more Diest the older i get….an uncaring, and unknowable force,
Earth which gives us life?
we are maybe a plague like ticks on her skin
the planet will survive, the biosphere is badly damaged…
it will have thousands of years to recover
would be interesting to see what rises to replace us?
most every evolved species has had a crack at making Earth Eden
but every species has decided that it is a
“maybe”?
That’s not a maybe
The older I get, the farther away from believing there is anything out there. But I respect others desires to hope for something more. I may joke about belief, but I say do whatever makes you happy.
I would agree
But I still have a sense of propriety, whether it means anything at all
I still prefer to treat people like I would like to be treated
some fail miserably but many rise well above to make this place bearable?
For myself, I do not do unto others what I do not do unto myself – but don’t push it, buster. Meant generically, of course.
As for faith, I hope that there’s something beyond this life, but I’m otherwise agnostic, of the “is it ignorance or apathy? I don’t know, and I don’t care” variety.
One thing I will do, however, is speak up against those who call the Bible a pack of lies or a work of fiction, and Nasrani can verify that. It’s actually an archeological set of documents, and while I don’t believe it’s particularly reliable, there are both facts and truths to be found in it. Brushing it off as nothing is merely intellectual laziness.
the words of the bible are a written history but like 1000 years later
the actual words of the new testament are words to create a liveable society, many have used it for personal gain but , just living by the truths make the world better
but if it all boils down to “the golden rule”, can we jettison some stuff?
what is important is life
everything on earth has a life
if it is not born it does not count
fricken dumb asses
Jesus said the same thing. That’s part of why the Jews hated him so much.
And the Romans.
Romans didn’t really hate him, more his followers. For the most part the Romans were pretty apathetic to the whole Jesus thing
till the emporer chose to change to Cgristianity
sorry I am not correcting my spelling
the west folded and the Roman empire became christianople and the christian reign began in the west…
OK, not hate, but if he asserted that there’s only one deity, and all others are false, the Romans would still take legal action against them, if they kicked up a fuss. Making an example of a leader who preached that the emperor’s divinity was false wasn’t the sort of thing they’d overlook, taken that far.
Regardless, the Sanhedrin didn’t have the authority to crucify. It was a purely Roman ritual.
Romans didn’t believe that the emperor was divine. Hence why they felt powerful enough to overthrow several of them.
And true the Romans were the ones to crucify him, but they only did so because the Jews kept begging them to do so. Pilot just got fed up there constant complaining about the guy so he did it just so he could be done with it.
we should take that lesson to heart in America
.
IFAK no court records survived.
Never really dug into supposed forensic evidence.
the son of (G)od does not leave a paper trail
true – as apathetic as they were to any unrest
There wasn’t really any unrest while Jesus was alive and that’s my point. While he was alive they viewed most of the “unrest” to local squabbling and really wanted the Jews to handle the issue themselves. It was when the disciples ventured out after Jesus was crucified and spread “the word” that they started to give a shit about Christianity.
several Jewish revolts preceded Xmas, might have been under control at the moment, but don’t take much…
so his christian church would hate him too
not like he had a say
the words of the bible do not need a church to be read and mostly followed
I don’t disagree. While there are some really great Christians that truly live the way Jesus taught, there’s unfortunately way too much hypocrisy throughout Christianity
I chose
to follow my faith alone
My mother taught me a path 🙂
Keep up the good work brother.
I equate “love thy brother,,,,”
with GR
Absolutely. I wasn’t criticizing you. I was adding to and supporting your comment
too late for this theological rabbit hole…
I can turn the other cheek
I have lived a life that someone can disagree, steal, attack me….
I can turn a cheek
I hold no anger
Deism has no promises.
fairly fatalistic
I have no idea, actually.
*legal sense
and you knew it
I did, and said what I said in good faith.
Misguided and unsupported …..fusck…..scotus?…
“you’re call is very important to us……………………
There are seldom cases where a single proposition is supported or unsupported, that’s why elements of legal cases are routinely thrown out, particularly at the appellate level. If you’re fixed on a specific case, all I can say is that it’s not as simple as it appears. Indeed, in legal matters, the thorniest problems are very simple, but balance significant, foreseeable outcomes, strictly in legal terms. Qualified Immunity can serve as an unrelated example.
Trying to force human interaction into binary states is even worse than trying to do so with objective reality. Binary is very convenient, though, I have to admit that.
there is not a specific case before a court now,,,generally
Perhaps, but there are pending rulings. I can’t sort out which court case you have in mind, but I stand by my point: Like reality, law is seldom binary, when taken in context. Sentencing’s a clear example of that, but it’s everywhere else, too.
The devil’s in the details, if you trivialize the entire process, you’ll never be able to see the moving parts.
true, frustrating
When I look at a rainbow, I don’t itemize, I just take it in.
fuck that shit
😃
My first take on the WR group
WR # 1-2
JuJu and MVS – The only question is which one emerges as the number one option.
WR # 3 (For Now)
Mecole Hardman – How long until he drops?
WR # 3 (In Progress)
Skyy Moore – How long until he rises?
WR # 4 – The most important position in my mind. IF JuJu or MVS need rest or miss time, can the fourth receiver take their spot so the third receiver does not have to move out of position. Thinking such, I believe the Chiefs are looking for a veteran or accomplished second year player.
Josh Gordon
Justin Watson
Daurice Fountain
Corey Coleman – I favor the first three as they all are much taller than Coleman and, honestly, I have no clue how much he played in the slot or on the outside with the Giants.
WR # 5 – Special Athletic Game Changer
Justyn Ross – we have seen the highlights
Jerrion Ealy – a combo DAT/Tyreek athlete?
WR # 6 – This position is Fountain’s unless he breaks thru above.
WR who need to be better than Cornell Powell to make the practice squad.
Omar Bayless
Gary Jennings
Aaron Parker
WR left on the current roster
Cornell Powell – I believe the only reason he made the practice squad is cause the Chiefs did not want to admit they made a mistake drafting him.
The title got stuck in my mind so much I had to have somebody tell me the translation before I heard what he actually said (which was just “I’m in Beijing”).
The Mandela Effect from this movie still blows my fucking mind
It was just a “dust up”. Ask Del Rio.
but real Americans don’t gaf about it anymore….

Which really makes me question their idea of what this Country is about. If that spectacle is fine with someone, then what do they think this country is based on? Clearly not laws or Democracy. If someone is willing to flush all that down the tubes for Donald Trump, because he told them he deserved to be President, I can’t understand them anymore.
What in the world do they need to see?
sorta a different take
my son talking
his generation and those behind him at 35
have only gotten crap through the years
he turned 14 in 2000, and the world melted on computer concerns
he turned 23 in 2009 and the the mortgage meltdown
he turned 33 in 2019 and Covid destroyed the US economy
not to mention our US troops sent to fight for near on 20 years
there was so much easy money in dealing drugs and quitting
And it’s going to get worse.
However, none of that changes what this country was built on. If those under 35 want to tear it up and start over for economic/environmental/health reasons, have at it. Fix what people MY age were SUPPOSED to fix.
You can’t, in any way, use that as a justification for what happened. Or even an explanation
No I am not
I am just reporting what people a generation behind is probably thinking
The system seemed to work for my generation, I am 60
it is not working for their generation
he says the Boomers just won’t retire
No we don’t cause we don’t know how too….
All we know is working our asses off for our parents of the greatest generation who taught us how to work,,,,
Uhhh … We can’t afford to … : (
that too
I get it and feel for them.
I am convinced that my parents and I managed to live during the best time in human history.
Before my parent were born, even an easy life was hard. REALLY hard if you didn’t have an easy life. People died from the simplest things. After me, I’m afraid that life is again going to get hard. And if the idiots messing with the political system get their way, it’s going to be very, very hard.
The climate is going to keep doing what it’s been doing lately and economies are going to shift and some aren’t going to survive. Water is going to be the next big crisis. There will probably be wars over not oil, but water and farmable land.
It’s going to be crazy. I know I sound like a cray doom and gloom guy, but I see nothing that tells me I might be wrong.
you are not
totally agree
my parents were born at the start of WWII, they grew up and had their children in the area of 1960
My dad served in Korea, I served but no wars thankfully. my sons could have served in the middle east if they had chosen to enlist
Amen, brother. Water wars are a comin’.
very true.
we kinda remember a more stable time (not really, it just took longer for everyone to find out how fucked they were 😃z
you have to want it
trust the plan
Del rio got in some trouble armed in a pickup cruising arrowhead
What if China invades Taiwan?
Nuke the bastards
seems it might be over before it is even known to the west
ha that is the way to go
sign me up for the Kremlin
I am wondering
if the Chiefs have a large number of WR’s that are not going to do special teams
we keep more DB’s for those jobs?
The bane of our defense for these last several years is keeping players that could only play ST. How the hell did we have linebackers on the team that could not beat out Ben Niemann?
you say that but we have been to 4 straight AFC championships with that motly crue D !!!!
AND a pass rush that, even with an air hose, could not put pressure in a tire.
Veach has done wonders putting a salary cap era team together
This streak will be nearly impossible to even approach. Running into the likes of Tim Tebow, Brock Osweiler and Marcus Mariota in certain Round 2 games helped extend the streak, but the Bill Belichick-Tom Brady Patriots became the most reliable team in NFL history. No one else has made six straight conference title game appearances.
we have 2/3’s there
For most of the run, the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins made the Broncos, Raiders, and Chargers look like Murderer’s Row.
The best source of ST players is the 3-4 system, which provides a primo set of bodies in backup LBs. The switch mandated another switch, to include more DBs to make up the difference. Safeties aren’t quite as good, but TEs can’t really expand to fill the gap.
is juneteenth as a national holiday new? I have it off, which is awesome, but it is not even on my free bank calender….
Haha…..
It’s only National if you are woke
well I don’t have to wake up early that day
so all good and I get paid too
I get to sleep in that day as well…. But I have that day off normally
well it does commemorate the day black Texans were awakened to the fact they were no longer slaves, 2 years after the proclamation…
Well I guess
like the original
the pony express finally delivered the news to the us
I’m thinkin’ there’s an Ancestor of Louis DeJoy involved there … ; )
3rd time
I know what it’s “for”. That’s not my issue with the holiday
I honestly do not understand “woke” as a pejorative. Recognizing societal discrepancies/inequities, whoever is affected should be lauded.
Like other words/phrases, one side perverts the original meaning into a boogeyman, they all do it, it’s a distraction to avoid discussion
Recognizing is one thing, having an a agenda shoved down your throat is another
what exactly is being “shoved down your throat”?
😃
If you can’t see that everywhere you turn nowadays, it’s “celebrate a minority” I don’t know what to tell you. Sad thing is, I’m not against celebrating outside cultures/beliefs. Personally I believe our diversity is what makes us great and unique. But too much of these “celebrate minorities” holidays/months are more weaponized political cards and not real celebrations
it’s marketing
we have a “national hot dog day” too
That barely gets mentioned. If it felt like someone just marketing a holiday to make some quick cash, I’d be more okay with it. If roll my eyes at capitalism in full display with it, but that would be it. These minority “days/months” don’t feel like cash grabs to me. They feel like agendas, and to me that sad.
agree
Pomp?
nay
IDGAF unless a parade impedes me, fuck those fucking fuckers…
it’s called societal shift,
the market drives the advertising
seems to me june teenth is maybe more important than the Fourth of July
enslaved people freed trumps citizens unhappy with their leadership
True, but Juneteenth doesn’t happen without us rebelling against our papa
yes
A very long bloody war
not to start nothing but the US already paid in blood and money to free the enslaved peoples
there is no way to make up those injustices, reperations are just stupid, every american is owed that for the shit we all have gone through
I would exempt that town in Oklahoma. greenwood, tulsa
That was genocide
hmmm…
You think we still would have had a civil war over slavery if we were still under the crown?
no.
not a US Civil War in any event
need clarification
nm
I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. I don’t think it’s simple social change. But then I’m a crusty cynical old fool that don’t think much in this world these days isn’t some agenda, so what do I really know?
I Hate Fathers day
meant I had to do twice the crap

Andy Reid likes what he’s seen from Chiefs’ new receiver room
The Kansas City Chiefs have wrapped up their mandatory minicamp and will now break for a little over a month before training camp.
Between OTAs and mandatory minicamp, Chiefs HC Andy Reid has a 13-practice sample size of seeing his team in action.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Reid gave an update on the progress of some of the new receivers and the team’s most veteran player at the position.
“Yeah, I really liked the way (JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling) worked,” Reid said. “They have a nice connection with Pat (Mahomes) up to this point. I’d be curious to see how it gets when there are live bullets and all that stuff. We’ll see how that rolls but I wouldn’t expect anything much different than what I’ve been seeing. And the other guys too have worked in there. Mecole (Hardman) has upped his game here and done a nice job. Our young kid, Skyy (Moore), he’s mixed in there and he’s been good. I like the mixture that we’ve got going.”
Speaking solely on rookie receiver Skyy Moore, Reid seemed impressed.“You know what, he looks strong,” Reid said of Moore. “You see that in the way he’s built physically, but that transfers. You see those big hands he has, he catches everything. He’s a good route runner. Smart kid, seemed to pick it up well.”
CHIEFSWIREcom –
If Mecole Hardman has upped his game, doesn’t that make his drops that much more dangerous?
better question
IF Hardman does up his game would we re-sign him? Could we?
contract year is undefeated
says if we cut him it would cost 400K and save 4 million on this years cap
I hate to say this (and never ever quote me on this) but Hardman is the most consistent receiver we have on the roster behind JuJu and MVS. Moore, Gordon, and the rest are solely thoughts on paper right now. Love him or not – he is our best starting number three receiver right now.
the truth shall set you free
I was going to say that the only way that Hardman could up his game is to become a licensed pilot.
an astronaut
The inevitable drop from orbit?
your secret is safe with me
Yeah, we don’t do that
4 million seems like a lot of money to get someone else
sadly it is chump change for a difference maker
Yeah, I don’t think you’re going to get an FA that’s better than Hardman for a paltry 4 million.
Seems to me the talk of him not belonging on this roster’s more a matter of emotion and rationalization, but that’s just me. I’m sure there are those going there who believe they have a factual case, not that I’ve ever seen it.
At this point of the year, it would be ludicrous to let him go with nothing but unproven players behind him. Now, as the season progresses, if Hardman is losing serious reps to Moore and a weed named Gordon, then cutting him would be no big deal but I am assuming that the money would not impact the salary cap by then.
would be an awesome deep WR group
I hope Ross makes an impact
Best case scenario for next year – Ross becomes a valid number two receiver, combined with MVS. Moore is a legit number three and Gordon proves that he can still ball as a backup to one and two.
I also hope our rooks progress fast, and the vets we landed can up their games in Reid’s system.
If he fails to earn a big contract and leaves for greener pastures, good for him.
Although at this point, I’d also be happy to see him leave, just to put a stop to the years of complaining about him and outright mocking of him. But then, if that happens, there’ll be another targets soon enough. Some people can’t seem to be happy as fans unless they have a player on the team that they can resent. Dan’s gone, so I expect at least one replacement in that category.
Clyde Edwards is still here
Well played sir.
thank you !
*Tips my hat*
I would say no unless the price is a low one. We will be in a search for a number two receiver again next year and cannot waste our money on a number three.
true
unless we found a gem this year
That would change the outlook should one of the young receivers become a star receiver by years end.
seriously, do we not expect Mahomes as the greatest QB ever to make WR’s and TE’s better?
Albert Wilson says yes
Honestly, he really has to up the game to get me to worry about losing him.
And I don’t have anything against him, but wouldn’t cry as of now
I wouldn’t. I’d wish him well and move on to the next guy. Someone is going to waaay over pay him.
I saw this today
China on Friday launched its third and most advanced aircraft carrier from Shanghai’s Jiangnan Shipyard, with new combat systems that experts say are fast catching up with the United States.
Named “Fujian,” the ship is China’s first domestically designed and built catapult aircraft carrier, state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
Its electromagnetic catapult-assisted launch system is a major upgrade from the less advanced ski jump-style system used on the Liaoning and the Shandong, its two predecessors, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a Washington-based think tank.
The new system, similar to the ones used by US aircraft carriers, will allow China to launch a wider variety of aircraft from the Fujian faster and with more ammunition.

So they have one 🙂
we have 11
MADE IN CHINA
according to the article it is steam powered? would need refueling a lot to get close to the US…..
steam is the mechanical force, coal, oil, gas or nuke fired is the difference
it is not a nuke
which to me seems like the entire Chinese navy is probably not nuclear powered
Does China have any nuclear powered ships?
Since the Chinese have no experience with nuclear-powered ships, they may not be ready for such a commitment. But keeping up with the U.S. Navy is a strategic concern.Apr 6, 2022
China can definitely shape their regional area as they wish
can they invade Japan or Australia, no
Taiwan, South Korea oh hell yes
remember when it said “Made in Taiwan” on the tad in the ’70s?
the have some I’m sure. Attack subs (not many) carrier (1 I think)
Surface fleet mostly diesel I imagine
Wasn’t Arrowhead one of the locations during the ‘94 cup?
Two friends are at a bar talking. One of them, a teacher, tells the other that there isn’t anything quite like teaching.
“It’s great,” he says. “And it’s true what they say: you get all kinds of students. Take my science class, for instance. I have a couple kids in there who aren’t the sharpest hunks of cheddar in the fridge.”
“How do you mean?” asks the second.
“Well, I heard two of them talking. The first said he wanted to be the first astronaut to land on the sun. ‘You can’t land on the sun, idiot. It’s too hot,’ said the second, but the first student was undeterred: ‘I’ll land on it at night.'”
HAPPY BIRTHDAY – BOBBY!!!
I’ll bet he could still play
met Mr Bell once. What a tree trunk of a man
I played High school ball with his son, best player on our team certainly, he went pro with the Jets for a small amount of time
Met him in airport a few years ago flying home from a game . Not so big anymore, but what a nice man . Enjoyed our visit, he had his super bowl ring on .
Same. He was probably 60, then. Looked like he was in playing shape then
