Arrowheadguys Thanks You!
159 repliesI wanted to take a quick minute to recognize everyone who has pitched into getting AG off the ground and running so quickly, and also give everyone a few updates on where things stand. I’m going to do my best not to forget anyone, which I fear may be a struggle, as so many people have contributed to the insane success this concept has been thus far; so please if I overlooked anyone please let me know so I can address it.
First off, I want to thank everyone who contributed to the GoFundMe for the startup costs and programming hours with the Wizard. We’ve met our goal which allowed us to migrate the site over to some pretty snazzy servers to ideally give all of our members seamless use of the site during high traffic. These servers will actually automatically and temporarily increase capacity (for a fee) if we exceed the limits that we currently have. This is a nice feature to have, since we still don’t know how big this site is going to get. We’re looking forward to seeing how the site does Sunday for the game. I’ve seen a few people asking for the GoFundMe link because they’d still like to contribute; we appreciate that but the startup costs have been covered, along with enough left over for ongoing support for the Wizard to keep improving user function.
Also, I want to thank everyone who is regularly contributing to AG whether behind the scenes working on the site or providing the content that keeps you coming back for more. Fist and the Wizard have done an amazing job getting the site stood up and improving the user experience. Every day new features are being added. Remember, if you have feedback for ways we can improve it even more, visit the feedback sticky here. Also I want to thank the staff and our weekly contributors: Sporting, WMD, Wustl, Dan, Fresh Prince, 01lowbird, His Zifness and BleedingRedandGold who have all done an outstanding job providing content and expanding our presence on social media. In addition to our regular contributors, I would also like to thank all those who have sent in fanposts; they add to the content we are currently able to provide and give the audience a chance to hear things from a new and different perspective.
Many of you have also noticed that AG is starting to look a bit more legit in the last few days. Thats due to a handful of designers who have been working behind the scenes to develop logos and graphics for us. I hope everyone gives them a shoutout for being patient enough to deal with my constant begging for trivial detail changes and specific color schemes. I think all of them have turned out some great art, with more to come, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to start rolling it out on the site and merchandise. Without further ado, thank you very much to TravisKelce, SuperMegaChief, Leaf and Falco.
And last of all, thank you to each and every member who wanted to be an Arrowhead Guy. This site is only here because of you. I never realized that this was a possibility of actually happening. Until one after the other I got replies and emails saying that you wanted this to happen. So thank you for pushing me for this, and thank you all for being here with me.
One last thing, people are still asking how they can help the site, and that’s fantastic to hear. 1st of all, my door…er…email is always open. If you have an idea how we can make this site better, let us know! If you have an idea for a fanpost, write it! If you have something on your mind, say it! We get bigger and better the more we grow as a community, so be good to one another and lift each other up. And spread the word, don’t keep AG a secret. Hop on your favorite (or least favorite) social media platform and connect with us. Share the content our National Directors of Social Media Relations are putting out there. You can follow us here on Twitter and give us a like here on Facebook.
Sometimes the best things happen when you least expect them.
I want to thank Tony and everyone else who helped building up this fantastic place from the ashes the former site left behind. I try to be more active in the comment sections than i ever was on AP. Normally i stay out of the game day threads, but with our game beeing shown on our national TV, i’ll probably drop by on sunday.
Major props to all
I’m still loving what ya’ll are putting in here. Super Happy for this and appreciate all your efforts to make this great.
Thank you, Tony. And thank you team AG! I think I have an addiction to reading and making art for this site as well. I’m making another piece now. Send help! And send more Bert’s High Quality Vodka as well.
Yea yea that’s great. Where’s the friday open thread
This ain’t homey enough for you?
/storms off to make Friday Night Open Thread
I will post a picture of flip flops if ya push to hard. 🙂
just the ticket to make me feel welcome
I’ve never been happier, prouder or more enthusiastic for the success of this venture. I have always lurked (going back to the days of Paradeulate, did I get that spelling right). The thing I didn’t understand then but do now it’s the community that I crave. Like many of you, contributors come and go but the community is what makes it for me. I can’t express how much I appreciate the dedication to maintaining that aspect of this, the only Chiefs community left on the web.
Grats, Guys!
Prince,
Are the final votes in?
Yes, KC Dude won
It is done.
And fixed
O.K. Everyone refresh right now!!!
Going to change it up right now. Any that feared not knowing who I was on the other site have no fear…
Not a problem. I am hoping to contribute more but I am working a “secret” project that I think people will enjoy and make my stuff that much different.
Looking forward to it!
It has to do with how long it takes me to render just the audio stuff. If it is going to take me an hour to render and upload then it should be unique.
Cheers, man, yall are killin it. I see a media pass in your future. Would love some insight into the personalities of the lesser known guys in the locker room. Nobody ever captures that for real. So uh.. Do it! While I, go over here, and drop some coin in this gofundme machine. It better play some music or somethin!
So through some contacts it turns out the Chiefs are one of the most strict teams in the league when it comes to granting press passes. But I was given some pointers on the path to accomplishing that. We’re hoping to be there in time for training camp. And if you know me, I’m gonna be finding that underdog player, and asking them some random ass fun questions. Maybe introduce myself to Andy by saying “hey, you remember 5 years ago when you got a baby announcement from some lunatic that named his kid after you? Well, awkward moment, but you never wrote back….”
And no worries on the gofundme, we met our goal and we’re off n running with these badass servers.
Totally gave $5 on the go fund me. All I could afford after the $30k house repair I just did. Wish I could give more! AP was the best ever till they committed the worst ever crime. Censorship. Freedom of speech above all.
Every bit helped get where we are brother!
We plan to make this even better than AP ever had the possibility of being. With no corporate bounds, there’s no limit to what we can do with this platform. I’m really excited about what the future holds…because as Fist can attest, I am just chock full of bad ideas.
Thanks Tony, and you guys are killing it. I’m one of the many long-term lurkers/rarely commenting members from AP. Joined in 2008 and just barely 1k comments since then. Hoping to participate more here, as I think you guys are absolutely right about it all being about the community. I get better/ quicker content than AP with a simple Google search. But they always had the community and discussion till now. People don’t by WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it (blatant plagiarism from Simon Sinek). AP didn’t realize that, you guys did.
TBH this whole thing was just a happy accident. It literally happened so fast and automatically there was seemingly no stopping it once the idea got floated.
The team is really starting to get in the flow, and we’re all super competitive. So its awesome to see all these guys motivated to make this thing not only work, but to be the best source for your Chiefs coverage. I’m glad to see members like you coming forward, every voice matters here. I lurked for 3 or 4 years without an account before I ever signed up and said something and here we are 5 years later.
Happy accident or not, AG is an upgrade in every way. It captures the fun of following the Chiefs and grew to a better place. The fact that a thousand others followed speaks to that.
All it is missing now are the day to day Berry fluff pieces…and an icon for sarcasm font.
I am saddened to announce that the Sarcasm Font decided to stay a member of AP. He sided with Pete, citing his incredible leadership skills and business acumen.
And thank you, I take it as no small matter of pride to consider myself slightly more entertaining than the Fluff Master Supreme.
Are you saying that he’s a Master Fluffer, then?
I can neither confirm nor deny.
Hey, does PFR tell you what the defense allows for each position? Such as WR,s TE’s, QB’s, etc.
Doing some research for an article. Would like to at the very least, have a basis of comparison. Or ideally “an average” to compare to.
Roto appears to be perfect for what I want, but they have an evil paywall.
Not that I know of, and I know a lot considering I spend half my life on there.
Well shit, might have to manually pry it out then.
Fantasy stats do, right?
/ducks
Ah, that’s it. I always joke that fantasy contributes more to what I know about football than football guys these days.
Great job and well done to all you folks at AG!

AG Tailgate ? … We gonna Rumble w/ the Key Board Warriors from AP ? … : )
I appreciate you taking the idea and running with it Tony. I appreciate all of the help you’ve had from everyone else behind the scenes getting this going. This is a pretty damn good story when you sit back and think about what has transpired in just 2 short weeks. AG went from a simple comment to the best community of Chiefs fans on the internet. That’s no small feat!
Cheers
I congratulate you guys for actually doing this. I have had so many ideas of awesome things and rarely have the gumption to actually make it happen for real. Seeing you guys work as a team and then seeing the immediate successes, day after day, has been a great thing to witness.
Cheers!
What’s the Exchange Rate on Beer Gloves To Bert’s ? … ( Asking for a friend … : )
Whats the exchange rate on yen to the american dollar?
113:1
And a Live Chicken …
Speaking of which, remember the guy that sacrificed the chicken for a Chiefs playoff win?
A big thank you to you Tony, all the great writers and fantastic commenters who AP thought were not important enough to worry about. I know you pushed this through more for everyone else and not just for you – that says alot about you.
I look forward to coming up for the playoff games, maybe I can get some fresh new pictures you can use.
We should have a AG tailgate….
Proud to be an Arrowhead Guy
Yeah…we’re going to need some more pics. I got the quote for using Associated Press images and about fell out my chair…
Gofundme part three?
Not likely. Cost for pics is like 8x the cost of these big ass servers we got…each month.
That is absolute insanity. Pretty sure we’ve got a big enough community to get you more pics. Not sure you want pics from the far reaches of the upper level, that’s probably best I can do for now. Haha!
If I didn’t sell my tickets, I actually have some around midfield.
I’ve had season tickets since 2010. I’m slowly moving from the corner to midfield, upper level. Then I’ll make my descent to the lower level. Haha! Here is the current view I’ve got:
My seats were lower level corner right by the tunnel. Those fireballs are incredible during cold weather games.
Next to mine. Mine were back row which was nice when it rained.
Bob Uecker seats.
Hey, I can see the seat I had for my very first Chiefs game. Corporate promo tix, so if you start at the top of the left-hand corner, you can stop. And o0n top of that, that was the day where it started out nice, and I had neglected to check the forecast. The cold wind outta the west that day damn near kilt me, but I soon found fellow-fans to huddle with, and the place was so empty that by halftime, everyone waqs drifting to the lower sections. Nobody seemed to mind, at leasst.
Anyway, come the second half, I’m already hoarse from screaming and the cold, but I’m outta the wind now – so crank that knob to 11 and rip the knob off. When I got home, Mrs BRAG could barely understand me, but hot choc plus a little something soothed my throat and warmed me up. She’s entirely too nice to me, sometimes.
And yet, no matter we lost, or sucked that season, or that I was flirting with hypothermia, that’s still among the best memories of my life. Just me, cause no one wanted the other ticket, and yet, for a brief time, I wasn’t alone in a strange place, I was part of a community, and we were at our home.
Special, special day.
Most the ones we’ve been using lately were sent in by TR. He has a legit camera, I worry about getting sued cuz they look like sideline photographer pics lol.
Don’t worry. All directly from my camera. Just don’t tell my wife how much I spent on my camera and lenses
Ha, no worries, we won’t tell a soul…
As long as you keep those pics coming. LOL
I just put some in the media folder from the Cassel years. Pre season against GB. Damn we were bad then. Wish I had a Palko picture to go with them. That was one legit sub par minor league QB. He might have even been good enough to be the back up QB for the Muskogee Bulldawgs.
http://www.cfleague.info/page/show/3205376-muskogee/
Please don’t make me use those pics!
I may use them in a post game review. Gonna really confuse some people.
Ha yeah, a lot of what we need is current players for when there’s a story about one of them.
I will snap extra pics when I come up. I will scan through my backups some more and see if I can come up with more. But when I come up for sure.
I will have to get the front row endzone seats again
Fist and I were joking it’d be cheaper to fly you up and buy you tickets front row on the visitor side 50 (so you have a straight shot at the chiefs sideline) to have you take pics of every player than it would be for 1 month subscription to use the pics…
LOL, nah I got a ton of Frequent flier miles. So I usually fly up for free. I like the end zone front row seats better because I get better action shots of the plays. So far this year I haven’t been able to get my good camera into the stadium though They’re enforcing the rules more tightly on no “professional” cameras …. I think I may just have to get sneakier. So far this year I flown up the KC for the San Francisco and Cincinnati games, and to Atlanta for the preseason game.
Just hold your camera up to your ear and talk like your on the phone with someone as you go through the gates. Tell them if they ask that it is the Nikon X300 smartphone running the Fire OS.
That’s ridiculous. See if you can get another quote from another source. Can’t hurt.
Though it wouldn’t surprise me if the “media” had a lock on newbs. Pay to play.
Yeah we need to look around, prolly also spend some time scrounging the net for license free images etc.
So you’re saying we need a rich benefactor.
Prolly not even. We need our own photographer lol. Still need to look into other options tho.
Are legit cameras allowed at the games?
Of course.

This gif warms my heart every time I see it.
Every time I see it I have to convince myself its not Clint Howard in an Adam Sandler movie.
I love this gif
Last couple times was told it cannot have a detachable lens. My 70-300mm lens is the shit….
They do understand that these are coming down the pike for the average smart phone. The push for modular in the smart phone arena is going to add to this.
Lovin’ It Here in ” The Village of the Banned ” !!! … Though I still don’t know the Whats, the Whys or the Where Fors of my Removal there (3 Year Reader, Commenter & Contributor ) … Pete & His Succubus can Go Kiss My Lily White Ass …
