I wonder about what my detractors have said, since so many have said that I have held this or that emotion. Smug arrogance, hatred, nefarious intent, does it really matter? Behind the wall I hold up against anger, what I mostly feel is empty and alone. Engaging has been my escape from that, but the price of doing so has gotten intimidating. And to be clear, those who harbor such beliefs can take their fantasies and insert them right next to where their heads reside.

you hold all those emotions/attitudes…we all do…how they are expressed and defended makes one unique if done properly…
maybe

Oh, I hold them all and more, but that doesn’t mean the feelings fill me, or even edge in. You know what makes me feel smug? Doing an extensive edit in order to subtly alter the writer’s prose, in order to strengthen their position, especially when I disagreed with it. And I did it all under the radar. Who does that? This guy, and not many others.

But I have been doing social interaction for going on a half century now, so I know I’m unique.

Make it a talking filibuster again, make whoever uses it work for it.

it astounds me how short-sighted politicians are. With the virtual inevitability of the Republicans retaking both houses of Congress in November, why the fuck would they want to get rid of the filibuster?

The thing that bothers me most is that neither party has a huge majority – its 50/50. but whoever has that one extra vote acts like 90% of the country wants what they are trying to do. instead, 100% of the country gets to suffer.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy defines the marketing division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation as “a bunch of mindless jerks who’ll be the first against the wall when the revolution comes,” with a footnote to the effect that the editors would welcome applications from anyone interested in taking over the post of robotics correspondent.

Curiously enough, an edition of the Encyclopaedia Galactica that had the good fortune to fall through a time warp from a thousand years in the future defined the marketing division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation as “a bunch of mindless jerks who were the first against the wall when the revolution came.”

at the end of the day it really doesnt matter which party has the congress or the white house. the end result is always the same. they get richer. their donors get richer. we pay for it. and we vote them in over and over. this country is retarded. its just like professional wrestling. the conflict is all an illusion to keep us showing up to make sure the other side doesnt win

I still don’t get why its such a big deal to have to show an ID to vote. heck, I have to to buy beer or cash a check. In DC they have to, along with a vaccine card, to get into a restaurant. Whats the problem with making sure an election is accurate. It would help eliminate all the suspicions that occur every election, whichever way it goes.

*there were no suspicions or evidence of voter fraud prior to 2019….the suspicions are spurious, the evidence does not exist*
fwiw I’m fine with voter ID (DL SSN or a free state ID)
Most countries don’t even require IDs to vote, in the US it was implemented to disqualify black folks.

heck, if I recall, every election from bush through today has had people claiming fraud from both parties. The only time they don’t is when its a landslide. Remember the “hanging chad”. Not to mention, the people that are investigating the suspicions of fraud are the same ones involved in it.

all i heard the entire trump admin was how that election was “rigged by the russians” and there was “collusion” and everything else under the sun that made trump an illegitimate president. and somehow, in 4 years, under that administration, we magically created the most fair and secure elections in human history?? bullshit. they are all 100% full of shit

the campaign gave Russia internal polling data, accepted and used info from Russian agents.
Don’t know if it’s “collusion” but it is not above board.

Not one person associated with the FBI, Mueller’s investigation, Senate or House Intelligence, US Treasury have asked any questions to the so called Russian agent, Konstantin Kilimnik. There is no evidence that has been provided to show that Kilimnik (an Ukranian) is a Russian agent. The so called polling data he received from his former boss, Paul Manafort, was Trump is up 1 in Ohio…Trump is down 2 in Michigan…and this you claim is a crime. Cite the US Statute that says that is a crime. You would think that someone in a Government alphabet agency would have given him a call….they didn’t.

Providing an employee and friend with poll numbers is not seeking and receiving help from a foreign entity. They have no evidence….none that Kilimnik was a Russian agent…none, nada, zilch, and have ywt to provide any evidence or charge him. They never requested an interview with him. His descriptions of the polling data was verified by Manafort and his assistant under oath. Thus, no crime. How many DOJ/FBI agents have lost their job or were demoted over this? Comey, McCabe, Page, Strzok, Laufman, Baker, Carlin, Ohr, Brand, Rybicki, Priestap, Campbell, Kadzik, and FISA Judge Contresas.

Well, if that means that we revert to the status quo ante, then a small group working in shifts, ceding the floor to each other would be the norm.

If it were me, considering that it will all have to be published in the Congressional Record, I’d got with reading The Silmarillion, for starters, and work our way up to Hubbard’s Mission: Earth dreck. Or maybe go with Hubbard during the daytime, so the dominant Party has to suffer through it. I’d take the night shift, in that instance.

Educated guess, but you’re familiar with Pournelle’s CoDominion* universe, where the US & USSR formed an uneasy alliance to rule the world? That became a dystopia pretty quick. Well, that’s basically what we have with the current Duopoly, which most people here fully support*, and things keep getting worse.

*Fully support in this context means that you primarily vote for one side or the other. In case of doubt, if you believe that you’ll waste your vote by voting for someone outside the DNC-RNC coalition, you fully support the coalition.

Absolutely, which is why I advocate against both of them, and try to encourage others to stop wasting their votes on them.

But any party that replaces either needs to go back to a delegate-based nomination system for elections, lest the ruling elite likewise disconnect from its base by treating them as statistics. But what do I know?

Fayetteville got hammered with the worst possible combination of weather at the worst possible time today. Between 3:45 and 4:30 we got 1 1/2″ of sleet, followed by snow and temps that dropped 15 degrees in 2 hours. Traffic home was a nightmare. Fayetteville aint like KC. We got like hills and mountains and shit. On a inch thick sheet of ice with and inch of snow on top.

You’d love driving in Northern Va. We don’t get enough that even locals get used to, we have a lot of NE folks mingled with SE folks and International folks for god knows where. One group drive 80 in 16″ of snow, one drives 4mph in .25″ of snow, and one can’t remember which side is which.

KC’s home/road defensive splits are pretty glaring. For example, they allow a full point per drive less at home compared to on the road.
Makes sense with how loud Arrowhead gets (obviously other factors involved too)

This season felt like a major step back from the Chiefs passing game (and it was at least a small one relative to 2018-2020) but oh hey they’re still the most-efficient unit in the league:
2021: +0.214 EPA/pass play (1st)
2020: +0.280 (2nd)
2019: +0.258 (1st)
2018: +0.30 (1st)
