Tonight: Albert Lewis
Lewis was a 3rd round pick out of Grambling State in 1983, the heart of the dark times. He played 16 years, enjoying a few of the early Marty years and winning. Apparently, he decided winning wasn’t for him and spent the last few years with the raiders (fuck them). In addition to his stellar defensive play, Lewis was a ST’s standout, blocking 11 kicks in his 11 seasons with us. Not too bad.

We’ve never kept dogs as pets, as Mrs BRAG’s allergic, but there’s more to it than that. Dogs require structure in their lives, and given my psych problems, I literally can’t provide one with it. That said, I like dogs, and they generally respond to me well, so I think it’s fair to say I refrain because I like dogs. Cats, OTOH, don’t need the structure, and my down times don’t bother them.
I’ve been tempted to “declare my preferred pronoun” as dog, since on the internet… But that leads me to make a personal point, that y’all see a lot of me here, but what you can’t see are the daily dark times, when I can’t do much of anything. I type through Tourette’s by timing my keystrokes and using a spellchecker, and my presence here works the same way. I work and socialize every time I can, so y’all can’t see the limits and challenges.
Dogs are a lifetime commitment. Or, rather, they should be. Theirs, not yours.

Jim Thorpe has officially been reinstated as the sole gold medal winner of the decathlon and pentathlon in the 1912 Stockholm games. A sports legend finally gets back what he earned.
Took them over a century, but given how corrupt the Committee has continued to be since then, I’m not surprised.
They had apparently reinstated him as a gold medal winner back in 83, but as a co-champion in both events. They didn’t even want to acknowledge him as the sole winner simply because he was a paid pro athlete at the time.
I’m aware of their argument at the time, and I still find it flimsy. There was a heavy dose of bigotry involved, too.

Jim Thorpe was stripped of his gold medals because of a rule at the time saying that professional athletes could not compete in the Olympics. He was essentially stripped because he was getting paid. He was also a member of the Sac and Fox nation and he was probably also stripped because of his race from what would’ve been an all-white IOC.

As tonight demonstrates, we have points where we agree, and points where we do not. I could trot out the PD which made news, in that it takes them so long to investigate their own offices after they kill someone that they sometimes kill again, before the first investigation’s concluded. I won’t do that, but I’ll note that rather than notches on their guns, they denote killings by bending the tips of the stars they wear. These are not signs of a PD that values human life.

To clarify, we can point to vehicle deaths going 25 MPR, we don’t make policy based off that outlier. Likewise, we can say a 10 year old (which how she was even able to get pregnant in the first place should be investigated ) being raped shouldn’t deter from saving lives
