The Tent – 9/10/2026

“The Tent” is OT in the truest sense of the word. ALMOST anything goes. Politics, religion, daily events from the world outside of sports.

We ask only that you adhere to the Community Standard’s we’ve always had, which can be summed up simply as “Be nice and not a dick.”

This means that the OTs are now and forever more NO POLITICS, NO RELIGION, NO HOT BUTTON TOPICS. That all goes under the tent, with the flap closed.

Everything else, Football, other sports, jokes, music, “this happened to me today”, can all go anywhere you want to put it. Here, there, fanpost, up to you. The site is your oyster (or clam, if you prefer clam chowder … and lobster is expensive).

We will refresh this from time to time, which will means that the old one will pretty much drop to several pages back, but will still be available, if you want it.

every president has had issues,. from the founders slave ownership, Regan’s dementia, Clinton’s/Kennedy’s infidelity, GB2 (and others) stupidity etc but none since Andrew Jackson could credibly be called traitors or foreign agents until now

How could one prove that he is not acting for the benefit of, if not at the behest of Putin and the rest to aid his own enrichment

Long, but (very much) worth the read. Also note, this is not mine; I found it somewhere. I did, however, add in the emphasis. Boromir has always sounded to me like a horn blowing after everyone already knows no one is coming. Not the first call, when men might still appear over the ridge, but the last one, thinner now, carrying through the trees because a man who knows he is going to die has decided the call should still be made. That is why I have never been able to reduce him to the man who tried to take the Ring. Boromir had carried Gondor for so long that when someone finally put absolute power in front of him, he did not recognize temptation. He recognized relief. I understand him better now than I did when I was younger. At twenty, the moral problem seemed clean: everyone has been told the Ring corrupts, Boromir reaches for it anyway, Frodo is right to run, and there is your lesson. At forty, it feels much less clean. I think instead about what it does to a person to spend his whole life watching the horizon, told that if the walls fail, everything behind them goes too. Boromir arrives already tired. Gondor has been fighting a war the rest of Middle-earth has had the luxury of treating as distant, and he has watched Osgiliath fall, return, and bleed again while other people debate what should be done. Mordor is not theoretical to him. He does not need Elrond to explain what evil might do if it wins, because he has watched men die to keep it a few miles farther from home. Even his arrogance looks different in that light. He was raised in a house where duty is hereditary, his father is disappearing into bitterness, his younger brother adores him, and an entire country has taught him that the eldest son eventually carries whatever his father can no longer hold. That burden is very old. Kings, princes, generals, and heirs to failing houses have been raised under versions of it for… Read more »

Hey guys.

Not your typical tent topic, but I saw a unique promotion outside our local movie theater tonight. On Monday, the theater is showing an old classic of Godzilla vs. King Kong. So they had two guys outside, one in a dinosaur costume and the other in a gorilla costume, with signs protesting against the other guy and how they would win in a fight. Hilarious!

Nikole Hannah-Jones published a piece where she “apologizes” to her daughter for sending her to a failing school. Said daughter got a rude awakening when she started attending a higher-performing HS, finding out that in the math she thought she was good at was instead far above what she’d learned. NHJ said that the teachers do little, not grading papers or assigning homework while handing out good grades, among other shortcomings.

Apparently this is because of racism, despite the school spending $52k per student, much more that schools that provide better outcomes. It’s a teachers’ union dream, raises by seniority and no accountability. The lack of accountability is the main thing, but that’s impossible because of the union, not some racist conspiracy, but I’m not surprised that the person behind the 1619 Project, with its opposition to being historically accurate over some “truth” or other gets this wrong, too.

what lines of sight will snipers cover from the arch? Arlington and National Mall primarily, why?
and why publicly make the WH and arch legitimate military targets by designating them drone ports and ammo storage?

the man is unfit…”if we stop eating bananas we save 2B$”, true enough, if I stop buying groceries, old fashion word meaning food stuffs you were probably unaware of, I save a lot of $$…I also have no food

Trump died and got buried at Mar-Lago. A man went to the airport and said, “I need a ticket to go piss on Trump’s grave.” The agent said, “Yes, sir. Here’s a ticket to Los Angeles.” The guy said, “Los Angeles?! But Trump’s buried in Florida!” The agent said, “Yes, sir, but the back of the line…”

There whole objective was “liberal tears”. I have never considered myself liberal, but they got my tears. America broke my heart and I will never trust my neighbors again. I’m called to “love my neighbors” and I do my best with that. But trust? Never again.

The Pentagon is reporting inaccurate casualties in Iran war. RFK is reporting false measles numbers. They lie about election fraud. They lie about gas prices, food prices, inflation numbers, and pretty much everything without any regard for the American people. And that’s not enough.

Suprised it took this long

So House Speaker Johnson ( r ) just sent Congress home on a 53 day vacation , ‘cuz , You Know … Who needs a functioning Legislature during a War & Economic Catastrophes & AI going unfettered when you have Royal Decrees ? …

This puts them out past the Midterm Election Date & Staves off a Republican ( ! ) lead effort to Impeach Pete Kegsbreath …

Since the beginning of the year ” Lil” Johnson’s held session a total of 72 days vs 178 for “Normal ” working Americans ( Roughly 40% of the time & 60% fewer work days than the aforementioned Avg ‘Murican )

Oh & Gas Prices ? … Roughly $ 1.50 / Gal Higher than when the Iran War was started in February …

Be sure to thank your republican representatives @ the Polls this November … ; (

So I won a raffle for two tickets to a Blue Jays game. On Monday of this week my pal and I (the same guy who came with me for our first and only visit to the sacred acre) went to the Skydome in downtown Toronto and watched the Tigers come from behind to beat the Jays. Let me tell you: the Skydome is a really fun place to be. They’ve made changes to the interior of the stadium that make it a destination facility in itself. Back in the ‘80s when the Skydome first opened up I worked part time on the field conversion crew changing over between different events and back then it felt like a lifeless concrete cavern. Now there are fan zones overlooking the field and down at field level in addition to regular seating to explore and watch the action and it feels like a big noisy welcoming party. I’d highly recommend it as a road trip for you folks. Unfortunately there is an atmosphere like a grudge match between our two countries. The current White House regime has instituted changes which lead me to have no intention of travelling to the U.S.A. for the time being. Canada is taking steps to protect ourselves from the whims of a belligerent and tyrannical neighbour. Efforts to strengthen economic ties with Europe are as much about expanding our trade diversity as they are to reinforce NATO ties in the face of a rogue NATO member. I’d love to go back to Arrowhead but not right now. So despite my recommendation that you visit the Skydome set in the heart of a vibrant, visually stunning and friendly downtown Toronto, I cannot expect that you’d want to cross the border into our country. The current MLB AL race for the third wildcard playoff spot is one of the nuttiest things I have seen in baseball in a long time. Go Jays! While I’m at it: go Chiefs! Go Kahlil Benson! I’m glad Sneed is back with the Chiefs, I believe this bodes well. And in honour of Ups (one… Read more »

Hey Larch, good to see you. Need tou apologize for a couple of things:
1. When Ups died i overreacted to one of your comments. It was a difficult day.
2. For my country. I really can’t believe what has happened between us. Even though I was terrified with who my fellow citizens put back in office, I didn’t see this coming. Canada has always been the best of neighbors, have always had our back! This country cannot be trusted now, and you guys are doing the right thing! To be honest, I would never trust us again.

With all of that,

Go Chiefs!!!

Water under the bridge, friend.
Re 1: that was an emotional time, I may have put up a song or something which I thought fitting for a eulogy for Ups but some might have found that off-colour or confusing. Honestly I was surprised by how strong a sadness I felt but maybe that in itself is the best praise for someone as caring and dedicated to this community as he was.
Re 2. No apologies are necessary because I believe I am in the majority of Canadians who know there to be many, many good people and good neighbours in your country.

And yes, again, eh: go Chiefs.

I heard a comment the other day that the Kennedy Center is the only memorial committed to JFK. I didn’t think about it that way. What maga has done to this country is obscene. The people here, on this site, and anywhere else that still support this thing in the WH are vile. It’s just getting to the point where this country isn’t worth salvaging. Not because of trump, people like him have existing since the beginning. It’s the half in this country, “The People”, not willing to stand against this thing that aren’t worth a crap.
