SNF: Packers Vs Seahawks Open Thread

A thread to discuss the game

This is a big game for the NFC playoff picture. The Seahawks are starting to get a little nervous about the Rams suddenly on their heels in the division. Green Bay is more secure in their wildcard spot, but they could potentially miss the playoffs if they go on a slide.

Who are you picking to win?

just checking to see how many are in total disbelief that the Chiefs won by 2 scores, and handily at that

I wouldn’t say handily. Offense still needs to get into a rhythm.

yah … considering how sloppy the Browns were, it coulda (shoulda?) been by a wider margin

then too, Big Red is going pretty vanilla

a little surprised that Thuney played LT … thought MAYBE Morris would fill in there

From what I recall from Seth’s newsletters, Morris has limited mobility, and from what I heard, you don’t have to stop Garret, just slow him down. With Thuney being more nimble and somewhat experienced at LT perhaps they did it specifically for that match-up.

I also read somewhere that Morris has been playing hurt, so maybe they’re informally resting him to heal up.

The Lions’ HC may say that they have a large stockpile of special plays and aren’t afraid to use them in a lot of games. That’s not really Reid’s style. He’s not out to try and baffle and outright trick defenses, he likes to run plays to set up variations that make the other guys guess wrong. That strikes me as the better approach, because now the D has to defend the apparent play while staying alert for the twists.

Good way to cause communication problems and raise the potential for making one of them screw up in some significant way. When you make them behave in normal, intelligent ways that turn out to be wrong, you get something like jiu jitsu going, using their reflexes to your own advantage. Do it often enough and you’ll also make them doubt their instincts on more plays. Not by much, but I think it creates more uncertainty in the Ds than DET’s slew of trick plays.

We need to reimplement the qb sneak. It’s getting fucking ridiculous and is actually getting him hurt.
