Ahh the master of being so good 10% of the time, that it let everyone ignore the 90% of mediocrity

Yeah I liked the guy a lot as well. If he’d been able to stay as a 3rd safety, he probably would have gone down as a chiefs legend.

Well, maybe a reliable sub for 2nd, if needed, but Dan was at his best when used situationally, as our jack-of-all-trades safety. I was saying back in the day that hating Dan for not being good enough when he’d been forced to play above his pay grade. That’s on coaching and management, not him.

But that brings us back to where you started, because instead of a player that was pretty reliable, but fell short sometimes, but could really deliver the clutch plays at times. That’s a balance I liked, but when they made him try to play where a higher level was needed overshadows that. Underappreciated, but not great. I liked Dirty Dan.

I have been searching since he first wore it.
I actually “found” it on a few very dodgy sites that sold everything from tube socks to tux’s. “Real” Gucci stuff right next to this hoodie.
I did not order one.

The difference is we were a mostly ignored franchise when we drafted Mahomes. Now, no one is trading with us short of forcing us to severely cripple ourselves.

Mike Danna deal looks pretty good. https://overthecap.com/player/mike-danna/8917

It’s basically 2 years / 7.5 million per year with an option for the 3rd year at 9 million.

More about LRZ, and one of the hosts was his teammate, which is a plus for an interview. The two main things I note are that he’s enjoying his time learning the playbook (and the rest of the mental side, I presume), which is a big plus, because if he’s enjoying the education, he’ll be learning well. Kids who hate math are usually kids who aren’t good at it, and so forth, but even more importantly, he actually feels that his athletic skillset’s an even better fit in the NFL than in rugby. There’s more of real football interest, so watch the video. Or don’t.

He said in the video that he’s ran in the upper 4.2’s, but when they tested him he was really nervous and did slower than that.

I haven’t seen anything in his highlights that suggests he’s that fast. He looks quick, but the guys he’s running away from on the rugby field don’t have elite speed.

He’s apparently been clocked at 24mph on the rugby pitch. The game and the gear will change that, but it’s still a top speed that I don’t think Hill has hit in a game.

What’s more important is that he believes he can build his game around his burst (my words, not his) and agility, and he’s got those, to whatever extent he can show on the field. He’s no lock, and he knows it, but a bigger guy who can come close to what Hill can do is an interesting prospect, and a guy to keep an eye on.

Class of their own

Kansas City Chiefs

They’ve won three of the past five Super Bowls, with the most recent coming on the back of a stellar defense that held the season together while the offense was as inconsistent and vulnerable as it has been in the Patrick Mahomes era. The departure of cornerback L’Jarius Sneed hurts, but keeping defensive tackle Chris Jones was a huge win. Receiver Marquise Brown is the veteran deep threat Kansas City desperately needed, although adding another wide receiver in the draft seems likely. There are certainly questions — including the legal status of emerging wideout Rashee Rice — but the Chiefs are going for an unprecedented three-peat and nothing that’s happened so far this offseason seems as daunting as overcoming the departure of Tyreek Hill (which resulted in a Lombardi Trophy) and a downward dip of the offense (yup, another Lombardi).

did a draft on pff today and it was well liked by pff

3rd round

Dominick Puni

OverviewGuard prospect with good size and nimble feet whose pass protection is ahead of his run blocking at this stage. Puni has a proportional, well-built frame but is much better on the move and playing with angles and positioning than he is at pushing defenders around. Puni plays with excellent feel for arm extension and maintains his feel for pass rushers. His mirror and hand placement stymie simple rush approaches, but inconsistent body control could be an issue for him against athletic sub-package rushers. Puni appears to have middle-round value but future starting talent for a move-oriented scheme.
