One Thing Leads To Another
34 repliesIt’s not Friday, it’s not at Night, but at least movies are the topic.
I started looking for trailers for some of my favorite old comedy films with strong female leads as an OT idea (other than music).
These previews are hokey looking at them now, but the films are excellent.
Judy Holliday is a hoot. After saving several more links a trend emerged. Myrna, Rosalind and Katharine are great…
One of classic Hollywood’s definitive leading men was also a gifted comedic actor, a rarity in any era.
This one does not fit the “strong female lead” premise, but it’s my favorite Peter Lorre comedy.
I can’t go cold turkey on the music…
I recommend watching these movies. Or don’t, see if I care.
Something funny I thought up today
Why do Kangaroos have short arms?
just another thought
Do Birds of Prey know poisonous snakes by sight?
We need more power Scotty!!!
Bones says this one is dead? Captain.
MOAR POWER!
I am finding most of my comments though unseen to anyone …..
are
One thing leads to another 🙂
Contextually
I found this interesting
New York (CNN Business)Zillow is no longer just an online platform for browsing available homes or for creeping on the value of your neighbor’s house. In recent years, the company has also begun actually buying, fixing up and selling homes itself through a new division called Zillow Offers — a major shift in its business model.
On Thursday, the company announced a new feature aimed at streamlining the process for homeowners considering selling to Zillow.
For certain homes, Zillow’s “Zestimate” — the online estimate of the home’s value — will now represent an initial cash offer from the company to buy the property. That could mean an even quicker timeline for homeowners looking to close a sale without going through the hassle of a formal listing, or a source of helpful data for would-be sellers who want to know how much money they’ll have to buy their next house.

When looking at our data set — 2006 through 2020 — the Saints rank first with an average percentile of 56. When using the same thought experiment as above, we find that across 15 drafts, the best team would have an average percentile of at least 56 roughly 52% of the time if the draft was entirely based on chance — a coin flip.
Still, it seems suspicious that the best team is also the team that had only one GM during all these years. This can’t be a coincidence. What are the chances of that?
The answer is that it’s probably much higher than you think, as this might very well be survivorship bias: It’s only logical that the most successful drafting GM should keep his job.
It’s also notable that a large part of the total WAR above expectation from the Saints’ draft picks since 2006 comes from the offensive side of the ball, which might suggest that Sean Payton’s ability to develop players together with QB Drew Brees might also play a role here.
It’s generally notable that draft success doesn’t solely describe the performance of the scouting department. It is surely confounded by the coaching staff’s ability to develop young players and the synergy between the scouting department and coaching staff, as identifying scheme fits is just as important as identifying pure talent.
I would say Compounded not Confounded
per pff Cut Candidates
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: LB ANTHONY HITCHENS
Chiefs Current Projected cap space: (-)$23,132,376
Post-June 1 cut cap savings: $6,437,500
Post-June 1 cut dead money: $4,223,750
2020 third-round draft pick Willie Gay Jr. is waiting in the wings and started to eat into Hitchens’ playing time as the season went on. He sustained an injury and missed the Chiefs’ playoff run, but he will be back in 2021 and should be starting in an every-down capacity. Hitchens is a liability in coverage, grading in 40.0s for his second season of the past three, and the other parts of his game are following suit.
Kansas City has to make some moves to begin its quest for a third straight Super Bowl appearance, and this is an obvious first step.
Would you offer the # 31 pick for him?
ORLANDO BROWN

T, BALTIMORE RAVENS
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports the Ravens are allowing OT Orlando Brown’s agent to explode trade scenarios. The 2018 third-year pro has decided he’s a left tackle after ably filling in for Ronnie Stanley in 2020. The Ravens are going to require a genuine haul to trade their mauling right tackle, but a disgruntled player who is presumably not amendable to signing an extension, Brown would fetch an early-round pick. At least “exploring” a trade makes all the sense in the world.
No. Just draft a tackle at 31 and save a fortune.
The Quick and the Dead fit the Post
had to pick a clip that did not give away the movie
a wee bit of football info
As it stands, Wilson has reportedly not demanded a trade out of the Pacific Northwest, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, so that’s promising if you’re head coach Pete Carroll or general manager John Schneider.
But, should he waive his no-trade clause and seek an exit, there are only four teams he’d reportedly suit up for: namely the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders or Chicago Bears — Schefter added.
Who is this man they call, the pompano???
The movie choices look good, but who has a black and white TV anymore..??
I shall answer that question when I am more comfortable/confident with my writing. Also, I’m pretty boring.
Evening on my side looks excellent, you may have found your true calling.
Hardly boring!
This is a blog not the New York Times
You are well informed and your knowledge core is wide….
…a mile wide and an inch deep…
Which is more important
An expert in one thing and no idea of anything else or some knowledge of everything and not an expert in almost all of them
Well , let’s not carried away 😁
It isn’t “old” like some of the other entries on this list, but “Bandidas” is enjoyable enough for being a B-movie. It’s pretty funny at times, has a great soundtrack, and is remarkably well done.
There are worse ways to spend 90 minutes.
Not b&w but a great movie. Before fonda went anti-american bitch.
most excellent movie! another absolute fave of mine … Lee Marvin, what a talent
Bringing Up Baby and Arsenic & Old Lace … two of my longtime favorites!
check out It Happened One Night w/Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert (1934) Frank Capra director
That is a classic indeed.
My movies also feature strong, competent women, it’s just they aren’t fictional. 😉
All the movie links appear to be broken. The color is completely missing from them all.
According to something I saw from Larry Johnson on Twitter, that’s a sure sign they’re NASA fakes.
